CSS Feature Preview #2

We're now ready to show you a little more about our shifter's adjustment features…

The ClubSport shifter table clamp offers endless adjustment possibilities. Hence, you will be able to set up your shifter exactly the way you want it.
The CSS is designed to be mounted on either side, right or left, and can even be screwed onto the top of the table clamp. If you decide to go for a side-mounting, the height adjustments are unlimited, thanks to the T-slot rails.
The ClubSport shifter table clamp is extremely sturdy and will ensure plenty of perfect and fast shifts.

See you next week, for more!

Got my new motors today. Dont think they are working correctly. The wheel wants to either spin all the way to the left or right when you give it the slightest input. It spins to just past lock and gets sorta stuck there. It takes alot of force to pull it back past lock then it wants to spin all the way back the other way and get stuck again. Tried with the wires hooked up the way shipped then swithched the wires same thing. :ouch:

Turns out I just needed to wire it the correct way to make it work.

Nice that Fanatec has put so many options for mounting the shifter. That will actually go straight to my current cockpit! Waiting a chance to order one :)

Doesn't look very 'console' friendly though. The nice thing about TH8 is that you can mount it in a console/dash due to it's flat top design.

Fanatec CSW review incoming at ISR. See this March's mid-monthly for the announcement.

I would've never have guessed this would happen ever again a year ago.

I will already start making popcorn, cause I feel there might be a nice heated debate afterwards between Fanatec fans and ISR fans. :)

For those, who came to the sim racing world late. What happened? Or is this rocking the boat?

The basics is that Darren worked for Fanatec during the period before the release of the CSR Elite.
Darren and Thomas disagreed on certain points and that caused a breach.
Both being grumpy and bitter after they said things in the public domain that should have stayed private and stuff went from bad to worse, to an all out war it seemed. Especially after everyone in the sim racing community had something to say about it.

This is the basic story though.
The disagreement came from Darren not agreeing with Thomas upon release of the new products (CSR E and CSW) due to reliability and build quality issues if I remember well.
Also Darren couldn't achieve the change in customer support he envisioned, but I am not sure about this anymore and would have to start digging myself again.

In the end Darren quit and in the manner this went down **** hit the fan.
Which party is guilty of what, I dunno. I think both sides made an equal amount of mistakes during this time.
In the end I can only say we are all human and some can suppress their feelings better than others to achieve what is considered professionalism more easily.

In any case, seeing Fanatec send gear again to ISR means they might have improved relations a bit.
Though as Darren asked Thomas to mail him in the mid-March show, I doubt personal relations have been fixed yet.

I am honestly interested at what ISR has to say about the CSW and hope they will do some comparisons to other wheels.

Thanks Logiforce, I edited my original post because I was afraid to stir anything up. I actually found the original threads up on the ISR forums and on the Thomas' site. Reading your post helped put everything into context.

If you see the text on the belt move after turning the wheel. ;)

So for example if you boot the wheel the wheel will have a fixed center spring force set. If you then give jerking movements to the right or the left against the force of the motor you should slowly see the text move. With me this is around 1cm per time I turn the wheel.
Also you should feel the movement of the belts through the wheel, as there is a sudden drop of strength which quickly catches itself again. While not quickly appearant during gameplay, this will cause loss of feedback from for example thing FFB effects that depend on the jerky movements. Think here about things like road effects and even more so the kerb effects. Kerbs depend on a quick left/right movement. This effect will deminish and eventually go away because of the belt slippage due to belt wear or a too low tension.

Edit:
Found a good demo of this on youtube by a user having this issue. Notice how the text moves when he moves the wheel against the motor. Both belts slip, though the small one is slipping heavily. (I have almost equal slippage on both belts at the moment for some reason)

I want to inform users of the forum I'm having the same problem, and I should play at most about 15 hours / month. The belt is slipping.
What should I do now? I am also from Brazil, where there isn´t support.
I know that there is a specific topic, I will also post there.

If you can feel the slippage, tighten the belts! Lol. If you can't feel it it shouldn't affect anything at all. I would worry more about tightening the one attached from the steering wheel pulley to the reduction pulley, as this one seems to affect drag less, and is usually the slippage culprit.

BTW when you say you have equal slippage; it isn't really possible to determine that without actually making a coincident mark on the belts and pulleys, since if the belt driving the wheel pulley slips it will result in movement of the letters on the motor belt relative to the wheel housing even if the motor belt hasn't slipped.

Looks very refined & proper. Likely a must buy when the time comes. I have the SST & TH8RS to compare to when the time comes.

I only have 1 hesitation in terms of longevity. IF going into gears R/7 requires a "push down function", you are adding more stress to the base component(s). While this adds immersion, & most will be adult when they use it, some will misuse. Some will likely break repeatedly & blame the quality, or lack thereof. I assume(hopefully) the engineering was done properly to ensure a minimal case of breakage with the added function. Just something I have taken notice to over some time for any sim racing gear.

EDIT: If I am incorrect, then please do advise. Thank you.

So given the info from the two previous and most recent teasers: you have to take your hard-mounted shifter, un-mount it and re-mount it to use sequential? Interesting design choice if that's what it is.

Hey guys who pre-ordered that CSR Elite F1 rim, how's that coming along? Any notification of shipment? They ship this month right?

Anyone know when the CSR Elite is coming back in stock? This was the last word from Fanatec apparently:

Please note that we do not know at that time, if the CSR Elite wheel will be available again. Please be so kind to have a look from time to time to our website or to www.911wheel.com where all information about our (new) products are released.

I've not followed the build up to CSS really, but have they ever said it'll be Seq aswell?
Personally it's such a hassle to change the TH8 I ended up getting a DSD seq shifter.

I want to buy the Formula rim, but I'm hearing the CSR Elite will not be supported after this current console generation. Any truth to the rumors?

In case Fanatec is listening, I would buy a GT rim instantly, if they decide to make it it.

I have not heard any rumor, are you worried about Xbox next console?
Because for PlayStation 4, since the CSR-E is driven from the G25 profile, if the G25 works with Playstation 4, then the CSR-E will work as well. It would be very surprising if G25 is not supported on the next playstation.
Hopefully we will get a Fanatec profile in the Playstation 4 as we do for PC.

After thinking and rethinking a way to get a sense of the different driving abitual and without resorting to Playseat's more of a style f1 1000euros to behold my way to revolutionize the style without spending a lot of money

To this end I had to make a box to send to the measure, changed several screws and anchors to have the effect of levitation

I hope Fanatec come talk to me and offer me a CSS due to a boost in sales of CSL seat with this new idea, it was the least I could do loool

The effects of these weekly Clubsport Shifter announcements are kind of odd.. Looking back over the numbers, since they started posting them, SFA1 adapter sales have doubled and then some...

That probably wasn't the intended effect, but it's interesting... :)

Haha, good for you though! BTW, we're all patiently waiting for some T500 info in the mod thread, if you have some time. All the stuff I have access to is a couple years old from David Tucker.
