Struggling to get my CSR Elite to work with GT6. Plug in turn on, into PS3 mode. Buttons and dpad work fine in the menus, but pedals and steering don't work. Any suggestions.

The CSR-E is not working??? That is very worrying. I am waiting for UPS to deliver GT6 so I can't test my CSR-E yet. What firmware are you using? Didn't some of the later firmwares change the button assignments on the PC mode that may be the issue? Not sure if that would affect PS3 mode though.

I will check back on this with turbo S wheel next week. FFB felt weaker or smoother in GT6. Curb FFB was destroyed already by a patch in GT5.(someone complained about wheels shaking in straights and then they just muted it everywhere)

Only played the stock GT5 few years ago, then went to PC sims.. Maybe I am too biased from the PC sim site (rF2, iR, AC and already pCars).. But GT6 has the worst FFB ever.. There is really only a center spring for me, no curbs or other effects at all.. Even flashed back the wheel to older FW 681, but same result.. Tried the wheel on the pc because I already thought the wheel is broken but in AC there are a LOT of effects going on so it is not broken, it is really GT6 which is that bad... Mhm--

Something else which is weird, when on the PS3 home screen it's like I'm always pressing down on the dpad. Whichever icon I choose it always scrolls straight to the bottom option. This doesn't happen in the gt6 menus.

More investigation shows that depressing the clutch all the way makes the cursor move up in the PS3 home screen, depressing it half way allows me to use the dpad in the menus as usual. Any ideas anyone.

@PzR Slim Are you in PS3 mode or PC mode? For me whenever the cursor scrolls to the bottom means it's in PC mode.
Thought I was in PS3 mode but been a while since I used it on PS3. You hold the connect and back button (two buttons on left of display) together right?

From the CSR-E Manual:

After the self calibration enter the PC mode by pressing Back Button for
one second. "- - -" will disappear on the display

Press Connect Button + Back Button simultaneously. A dot in the display
indicates the PS3 mode.

lol, what a noob I am. Went back upto try again and suddenly realised that I hadn't been putting in PC mode before PS3 mode. Doh! Told you it had been a while. Came back to post my idiocy and see you had already worked that out!

Glad it worked! 👍 Was getting worried mine wouldn't work for when I finally get the game! (Note to self: Maybe try ordering off the internet next time...) See you guys on the track!

Too bad my copy ordered from Amazon for launch delivery hasn't arrived

Just switched from my Thrustmaster gear back to Fanatec gear. Boy it sucks by comparison!
It's not because of Fanatec, but because of them riding on a gear driven wheels drivers... Logitech's G25/27 drivers. Which isn't an official GT wheel, and thus did not get any attention when it comes to FFB in simulation mode compared to the official GT5/6 T500 wheel.

Kinda sad about that. Love the shifter, but had that my rSeat is getting into wobble galore mode with all these beefy and powerful pieces of hardware. Seriously, a seat once originally made for Logitech wheels just isn't suited for these modern pieces of hardware. :(

Maybe basher can make me something so my CSS is recognized as a TH8 on PS3? :dopey:
Not that I dislike Fanatec, I just miss the GT6 feel of the T500. Day and night difference.

The Fanatec CSR-Elite is just lifeless in GT6. I can only feel spring effect and a ever so slight feeling of the most bumpy curbs. Very disappointing. I have a old Turbo S I may try, but can't see how it will be any better.

I doubt it will be. This is purely PD's fault, because a wheel that performs well on a PC can perform just as well on a console.
I think either PD uses an old FFB system (GT5 system) for any wheel other than a T500... or something is incredibly broken. Or the last thing, they simply wish to push T500 sales as THE GT6 wheel.

Something is off as my T500 feels very different and has really good FFB and nothing like GT5.

I will grab my G25 later this weekend. See if that changes anything. Although just as with your Turbo S... I doubt it.

Has anyone tried turning on power steering inside GT6? I know that in GT5 it did almost nothing for the G25 and therefore Fanatec wheels, but perhaps in GT6 it will reduce the overpowering centering spring and balance out forces better?

No, it makes it worse. When you loose the rear all forces disappear completely. :(

yah GT6 has the worst FFB ever for Fanatec wheels, only center spring for me is working,, no curb feeling or anything else at all :(

I just rage quit playing out of frustration of not feeling the car and getting surprised by watch happening on the screen. I could not complete a lap nicely as is. Went back to PC and did fine in pCARS and AC and felt a lot more.

So thus far my gripes are...

- Sucky FFB with anything else than a T500
- Bad low speed tyre model. Or so it feels/seems like with the CSW.
- Bad sound. Tyre squeal doesn't tell you anything about where you are in relation to the max gripping point. So with sucky FFB there is no way to control the car and you just need to wait for the spin or under perform yourself.
- Vacuum cleaners
- Stutters
- Lastly the still horrible clutch modeling. Or rather lack off. Missed shift galore still.

GT6 doesn't make me enjoy my Fanatec gear at all so far. :(

It´s as stuttery as the demo also if you run it at 720P?

I run it at 1080p@60hz (according to my TV) here as that is what the game puts out. Never knew the game had that kind of option though. I don't know what the FPS are, but I reckon 30 else I wouldn't get tearing.

Well, that sucks. How does it compare to the GTA demo. I thought that was alright.

GTA demo felt like GT6 on Amateur FFB setting, weight transfer based. Haven't tried the GTA demo with the T500 at the time though. Might have to at some point.

Actually I just went back to Amateur and to me the FFB felt more predictable and controllable. Will try professional next.
To me this kinda verifies that the Simulation option might be broken for Logitech and Fanatec wheels.

Edit:
I have to correct myself with the above. The demo plays like the Professional mode.

The professional mode feels a lot better (not T500 Simulation better though) than the simulation mode. Very strange. :odd::odd::odd:

In the ps3 menu just set the res to 720p. Only way for me to get the demo somewhat playable...

Lol. Somebody at PD done goofed.

Temporary Solution: Bad FFB CSW in GT6

Guys, I found the (temp) fix for our GT6 FFB issue.
What you need to do is flash back your CSW to Firmware v32.

Firmwares: http://eu.fanatec.com/RacingWheels/ClubSportWheelBaseEU

The following difference between firmware v32 and v37 are the key to this fix.

Firmware 32: Emulation of Logitech G25 in PS3 Mode (no working rev lights (G25 didn't have any))
Firmware 37: Emulation of Logitech G27 in PS3 Mode (with working rev lights)

So what this means is that basically the G25 works fine and has a working Simulation FFB mode in GT6, while the G27 users have a messed up Simulation FFB mode in GT6.
This means that when you flash back you loose the rev lights, but I shift on hear or the on screen light instead myself. So I rather have a working FFB system instead so I can enjoy the game.

So all you got to do is download the firmware from the Fanatec site, follow the documented instructions included in the ZIP archive.
Make sure that after you rebooted your wheel you...

a) Reset your profile by holding down the tuning menu button while S_1 is displayed
b) Recalibrate the center of the wheel by putting the wheel in the center and hitting both thumb sticks while S_1 is being displayed
c) Recalibrate your H-shifter
d) Please don't forget to enjoy GT6 :)

Personally I initially used Simulation, with Powersteering, Strength 10 in game and on the wheel FOR 100. Which equals to about the same feel I had with the T500, though I feel that the T500 is slightly sharper/spiky'er on the curb rumble in general (so not game related, but device firmware related).

Edit: Decided to go to Simulation, no Powersteering, Strength 8 instead. With powersteering the wheel goes silly light and strength 10 felt like it was clipping from the game. Better to leave some room in the game and adjust on the wheel instead if desired.

Anyways... happy driving guys. :gtpflag:

Awesome! Thanks.

would the g27 be screwed up itself too? Might be a piece of info worth posting in the general gt6 forum.

Could be, but I only have a G25 so I can't compare. :(
Most notable feature missing when using the G27 driver is the lack of curb rumble, which is present for the G25 when you run the in-game option of "Simulation FFB mode".

ps. Feel free to direction anyone from the general forum to here as I rather keep the discussion localized if possible.

Meh, GT3 RS v2 users are not affected when switching back to old fw to get G25 emulation? Tried both fw 681 and 756 but both are very bad for GT6 .. As said, no curb feeling, only center spring...

Does that even use G27 emulation? I doubt it as it has no rev lights, nor do any models apart from the CSW.
Unfortunately no changelog is provided and I only test CSW stuff and thus don't know anything in relation to other wheels. The only way you could check what it emulates with the different firmware is by going into PS3 mode and see how Windows picks up the wheel, it should say specifically G25 or G27.
Or maybe another way. Change one button (like X or something) for only the G27 to the Horn. Go into a race and see if you can honk your horn. If yes, a G27 is emulated but when the answer is no you emulate a G25. ;)

I thought you had a CSW though?
But even so I find it odd that you just get a center spring. Even I get curb feel and at least weight transfer feel, but there is also dealignment and a fluctuating constant force to simulate grip levels.
To it sounds like something goes wrong somewhere. Especially the lack of curb rumble is odd. I know you do know how to flash as you also were a tester for the CSW. So it can't be that you forgot to reset the tuning menu profiles after a flash or something silly like that.
My only guess is that with both firmwares it emulates a G27 or something is set wrong somewhere, else I don't know what it is.

Any idea what firmware GT2 and turbo S wheels users should install to get GT6 fix?

I do not really know if the curb FFB is bad or broken.
