Yeah it is $450 for the base and $150 for the rim. Each sold separately. The Elite sounds like a great deal in comparison. CSW+Rim+Pedals=$800 CSRE+PEDALS=$700 Same FFB motors, same feel. Also you are paying $800 for the possibility to spend more money on the wheel in the future. I do not know about you but I rather purchase my wheel and be done, because I will have no money left.

If you like M$ branded products too...

I would change the design of the CSR-E wheel. I understand that wheel emulates 458 italia wheel or something similar but shiny plastic does nothing because there are no rev indicator lights. Also shiny plastic is slippery. Of course if Fanatec would sell CSR-E base separate, and would give option to take e.g larger diameter round wheel with leather or alcantara, I would be very happy :)

I have to say that the appearance of the CSR Elite has been growing on me the more I look at it. The combination of leather and the softer alcantara could be really comfy and the shape looks to be superb. I would of said having the carbon effect on the top and bottom of the wheel would of been even nicer like the Toyota LFA has.

Plastic or carbon effect is all the rage it seems.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if that's just a cap in the middle that can be popped off and replaced with something non M$? Thomas???

There is also the lacking buttons issue though.

if you dont like FM and MS then why don't you buy the CSW instead?

If you dont have an Xbox, I would recommend the CSW for sure.

Thomas I would like to know if PC /PS3 compatible means Logitech G25/27 compatible but not 100 % supported ? Are you planning or have you already consulted with Polyphony Digital about full support in GT5 for your wheels ? It would suck to have all these great features (RPM LED's, joystick, Quick release etc) but not be able to use them. I know it's not cheap but that would make your wheels more competitive .

So.... any new info on this Thomas?:sly:

I agree, wish it would be carbon fiber or imitation carbon fiber. I'm sure someone will wrap it in faux carbon to get the LFA look:tup:

Hey Thomas, the spin speed we see in the CSR-E video represents the fastest the wheel can go?

No. If we would make a special test application we could make it run even faster but it means nothing. I rather give the wheel to drifters and let them tell me if it is fast enough or not. So far everybody loved it.

Exacly, I mean what is the point to have a wheel which spins so fast that you have no idea anymore where you stop it when you grab it. The new wheels are certainly fast enough for drifters and better feeling is good for all type of simracers.

first you say the new wheels are certainly fast enough for drifters, and now you say you would rather give the wheel to drifters to let them tell you if its fast enough? hang on you already told us its "certainly fast enough" so what you were lying?

why are you trying to make it look like fast backspin is a bad thing and not needed? just because your wheel doesnt have it and the t500 does? i know you are making a wheel to beat t500 which is great and i hope it beats it in everything but at the moment its losing in regards to backspin, if drifters think its fast enough then they will think the t500 is faster and better in that area, dont try and cover a weakness of your wheels by implying that a certain quality isnt needed, especially when that quality is a fact of real life driving

I think it's too early to freak out, Black86. We still don't have all the details on the CSR Elite and CSW. From videos, they look faster than previous Fanatec wheels. Thomas just stated that these new wheels are capable of spinning faster than shown so far. Is that as fast as the T500 RS? I have no idea. Is that fast enough for smooth, realistic drifting? Perhaps, but we won't know until we get a chance to put these new wheels through their paces ourselves.

im not freaking out, he has stated that they can spin faster but he also stated they are already fast enough for drifting and then changed his mind, so whats to say he wont change his mind about them being able to spin faster??

i know what you mean about waiting for the wheels its true, im just a bit miffed about how he is trying to make it look like fast backspin isnt really necessary just because his wheel isnt as fast as the t500, im sure he would have been promoting fast back spin if it beat the t500 in it when asked

anyways thomas im not here to hate on you or your products, i really do wish your wheel beats all others out there, even if it ends up being slower the the t500 back spin but it out performs it in everything else(and it already does in alot of things ie quick release, diff wheels, all metal build) i will probably end up getting one of yours...:)

sorry if i come across bad, friends:tup:??

From the video we've seen it's not as fast as the T500. What also concerns me is why there would be a drift mode to make it spin faster. Why wouldn't it spon at it's fastest all the time. Is the drift mode less accurate. Another thing to consider is if something is spinning as fast as the T500, you really don't want paddles spinning too, so add on to the cost whatever the fixed paddles will be. I don't know if it could ever be as fast as the T500 due to the design of the belt and motors. I think people will need to choose between perfectly smooth motion without notchiness (which isn't really a problem when driving with the T500) or speed.

What's wrong with saying "I rather give the wheel to drifters and let them tell me if it is fast enough or not."?
Calm down, don't get upset about something we know very little about. :) It probably really is best to leave it to experienced drifters to tell us, if it is fast enough for their liking or not. Their opinion will be the most objective and we should get this information soon enough to make an informed buying decision. You don't expect the maker of a wheel to directly say their wheel is better/worse, slower/faster, smoother/notchier than a wheel by competition?

Fanatec...

Some may find the look of the CSR-E's rim or color scheme more appealing than the CSW.

Yes, I am interested in the CSW. Really looking forward to the various rims you have mentioned, such as NASCAR. Curious about button layouts and such. Many NASCAR drivers are using a full Alcantera rim and some are using a smaller GT sized wheel.

EDIT; I doubt people with the F1 rim want a hyper fast wheel. It might hurt!!!

Once you start spending over a certain amount you are probably buying a serious piece of equipment. After all, professional racers use iRacing, rfactor pro, etc to train to drive on racing tracks. I suspect they would beg the differ that they are paying big money for a 'toy'. Unless their entire virtual simulator is a toy.

Personally I would find that very odd calling their virtual simulators toys.

Here is the definition of 'toy':

1. an object, often a small representation of something familiar, as an animal or person, for children or others to play with; plaything.
2. a thing or matter of little or no value or importance; a trifle.
3. something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use.
4. a small article of little value but prized as a souvenir or for some other special reason; trinket; knickknack; bauble.
5. something diminutive, especially in comparison with like objects.

I don't know bout you, but my wheel doesn't fit this description. I don't play with toys. my goal is to learn these tracks on one day blaze around in a real track with one. So it has a real practical use. However, to my wife the wheel is just a toy. So I'm not gonna argue with her or anyone else very much on that one :D

My Action man was real too, once.

Until I left him near the electric fire and his eagle eye melted out.

Sorry guys. I love my wheels too but getting worked up over them has passed for me. I still understand the passion though.

Don't take my toy comment to heart.

I also play with the real thing... no toys for me... Im dead serious about gaming :dopey:

Dont you even try to mess with my DS3 :dopey:

Btw not trying to claim I'm training to become a real race car driver lol! I would just like to one day roll around a track in a car and not kill myself is the goal 👍

Off topic I know, but an interim step between sim and RL tracktime might be.....EXPRESSWAY RAMPS. 1) Low probability of law. 2) No oncoming traffic. 3) No unexpected merging traffic. 4) IF you do kill yourself you won't take any innocents with you.👍 and 5) Did I mention a low probability of law enforcement ?

Always obey traffic laws.

Can't stand women & men who putt along on the on [straight smooth] ramps at 35 and then accelerate to 70 causing traffic disruptions!!!

The new Elite/CSW base really does deliver the eye candy a la modern highend perfomance/exotics with the picture window into the inner workings. I admit I'm a sucker for that sort of thing (aren't we all).

I love what they are doing for the wheel scene. I am just afraid by the time I end up getting one and get used to it, another one will come out and then another and then another...

Wonder if Fanatec has seen the TM F1 wheel or was that a surprise? Looking forward to the showdown of the wheels. More competition is healthy for gamers. :)

Couldn't agree more. The whole point of them is so you can get up to the speed of the traffic you are joining. Get up to 70 and it'll be easy to slot in but try and do it at 35 and you haven't got a chance.

^I have to agree. Seems like it would wear to much on the Belt and Motors for it to spin Full Speed every time it starts up.
