^I have to agree. Seems like it would wear to much on the Belt and Motors for it to spin Full Speed every time it starts up.

Comparison is pointless. Why would anyone make wheel spin at full speed in calibration mode?

The T500 does spin at full speed speed every time it starts up and when it goes into GT.

I don't think spinning once (and back) at full speed in calibration mode is anything compared to actually using the wheel.

I thought there was also a section in the video where he talked about the speed, but maybe I imagined that. :)

Has Fanatec ever confirmed that the CSW/CSR Elite uses upgraded Mabauchi or more powerful motors? I would like to think it was an area they did improve/upgrade to compete wth T500RS and havnt just focused on "Real Feel" smoothness.

Although its not just about the speed but I guess also the torque.

Wonder if Fanatec has seen the TM F1 wheel or was that a surprise? Looking forward to the showdown of the wheels. More competition is healthy for gamers. :)

It was not a surprise. And it was not really hard to guess as they have the Ferrari license and made the T500RS suitable for future upgrades.

It is a great looking wheel rim which looks very similar to the real thing so congratulation to Thrustmaster for that!

But I don't consider it as direct competition as our wheels follow a different concept and target group.

Come on Thomas.
A different target group? It's not like the Market has many different groups.
Xbox perhaps being the exception.

Your both targeting the same Market surely.

Anyhow good luck with your endeavours. If it wasn't for guys like you we would still be playing with joysticks.

Well Xbox is a little more than "perhaps" an exception I would think. And a rather large one at that.👍

Scotty

But the only problem is that the F1 wheel fanatec has showned is not for the Xbox... and thats what they are talking about... jesus some people say anything to be beta testers - Im just kidding...

Thomas already commented that the CSW and F1 rim can be adapted in the future to add new features for the PC sim community.

You also have to acknowledge the "hot switching" feature with "Quick Release" is as real as it gets. Then their are things like the shifters being positionable, static or moving shifter options, a working LED display. Thats pretty specialist fuctionality going on their.

While the Thrustmaster F1 wheel does indeed look to be really nice and Im sure will be a good product. I think its clear to see that Fanatec will appeal more to the serious sim concious players and motorsport fanbase. We are still yet in the dark regards just how good this CSW is gonna be in true comparison to the T500RS. Maybe its like comparing a good beer to a good wine. :sly:

If 149 euros for Thrustmaster F1 rim is correct then Fanatec F1 rim is a real bargain. Although Thrustmaster may have more buttons (most people probably don't care), it looks to be plastic while Fanatec one is made of aluminum and it also has rev lights and of course quick release, which we all know is generally very expensive.

Your right, I was thinking company to company not wheel to wheel. :guilty: :dunce:

... and if the GT2 wheel's reputation didn't take this much of a hit, and if the customer services weren't often delayed (or ignored as some people would say), Fanatec's products truly worth every penny and would smoke almost every wheel out there.

I wonder what your reasoning here might be? You have to keep in mind Thrustmaster has been campaigning very hard at iRacing running contests and giving away prizes. Their reputation is glitter and gold amongst the community. T500rs is the wheel to get atm for its price range. iRacing staff, etc have been pushing it hard. I play PC sims daily and its a no brainer we will want a wheel rim with tons of buttons like I posted a few pages back

You have to keep in mind in PC sims we have spotters, pits, brake bias settings, HUD, stats display, adjusting fov (ingame), tweaking FFB ingame, etc. Just to tweak my FFB alone in rfactor I need 9 keys on my keypad.

A wheel rim with 20 buttons will make people go nuts if this gets confirmed. By the time the CSW wheel I can almost guarantee everyone is going to be spinning around their f1 t500rs rims.

Just look back at my post a few pages back. I had no idea about that f1 t500rs rim and I was asking why it only had 11 buttons. By my reasoning thats not a current f1 rim in a realistic sense so it could've been just trimmed down to 8 and put on the CSR Elite wheel

I still feel that way....

I wish Fanatec good luck but yeah I'll probably be focusing on that t500rs rim unless it all turns out to be smoke then I'm come crawling back lol.

by all means please continue to support Fanatec this way they will grow and invest into an upgraded CSR Elite that I can buy (quick release + analog stick, etc). Of course by that time TM might make a high quality wheel for the xbox. May the wheel wars continue 👍

[edit] just checked iracing forums they seem quite hyped for the CSW so far actually

My reasoning is the Fanatec F1 rim product seems more hi end in quality and it has additional features that I mentioned. T500 still uses it's paddles for the F150 integral for a start and is more compromised. CSW is not a licensed product sure but seems a much more serious one.

Don't forget it's also about how the wheel performs, feels and options it gives the players. CSW is taking Thrustmaster head on it seems. I can't wait for comparisons to how both feel and compare.

The new t500rs f1 rim has attached paddles though in the screenshot + that will buxton guy from speed TV says "it feels like a proper f1 rim".

* Yeah bottom line we can only wait for comparisons.

The reason for the lack of features is a legal one. In order to be licensed by MS the wheel can't have any more buttons, analog joystick, quick release, etc. This is as far as Fanatec could go. That doesn't mean their won't be a f1 rim it just won't be that fancy and he already said on his blog that a GT rim and F1 rime for the csr-e is highly likely.

I guess your argument could be that Fanatec could get so big that it has the leverage to modify that agreement but I don't see that happening.

I agree I dont see it happening either so I'm going with the recently announced t500rs f1 rim (all my F1 games will be on PC/PS3 anyway).

Still eager to see what happens with the CSR line of products tho for the xbox.

The Thustmaster F1 rim has proper paddles attached to the wheel (only two instead of the usual 4 that I also dont know what they are for)
The only advantage I see in the Fanatec wheel is its generic look making it more (style or visualy speaking) timeless... I for one would be feed up (even though I like it now) with the ferrari style wheel after one or two years... IMO its not one of the best looking F1 steering wheels in todays cars... but thats just me...

Well if the GT Rim is likely for the CSR Elite, then I'll be getting the CSR Elite. I like the look of the GT Wheel, and it's only the bottom that we've seen.

Thomas I would like to know if PC /PS3 compatible means Logitech G25/27 compatible but not 100 % supported ? Are you planning or have you already consulted with Polyphony Digital about full support in GT5 for your wheels ? It would suck to have all these great features (RPM LED's, buttons, joystick, Quick release etc) but not be able to use them. I know it's not cheap but that would make your wheels more competitive .

Has this been answered yet? Also, Logitech uses Imersion technology. Remember that whole debacle at the PS3 launch :scared: What does Fanatec use for its technology?
Looking very forward to becoming a new Fanatec customer once the CSW base, F1 rim and GT rim wheel arrive in Nov/Dec. I'm especially thrilled the GT rim is modeled after my real car and shares the same emblem :sly:
Secret is safe, but I'm sure it will be revealed to all in a matter of weeks =)

Looking at the pic of the back of the gt wheel it looks lime it is going to have the same paddle set up as the f1 style rim. Also. The rim on the top right corner is missing the Q.R. but doesnt really look incomplete.
Has this been discussed yet?

Edit : nevermind me. That rim is missing the entire back cover.
