Well f1s ffb feels better on the cheaper wheels as it is more aimed at them... Dirts ffb but for me it feels more like a constant rumble rather than a detailed feeling which you find on GT5....

IT'S still worth playing f1 as the game is great imo and I love it on my dfgt but it dosent feel quite right with the Csr imo it feels ok but the dfgt was better for me... However GT5 was a completely different story

So you obviously havnt played Dirt 3 with a T500RS then. 👍
I dont think a T500RS £400 wheel and £130 add on rim is a "cheaper wheel the game is aimed at".

Thats a very strange comment to make that the F1 2001 game is aimed at low price wheels. Like really, as Im 100% certain Codemasters joined with Fanatec to help promote their wheels including the CSW at E3 and had the CSW on show at Gamescon.

Sometimes mate you really make me wonder...

All the Porsche wheels and also the new CSR Wheel simulate the Logitech G25 when in PS3 mode.

How can you tell: Just connect your CSR to your PC and press the back and connect button (as you would for ps3 mode).

Windows will now recognize your CSR as a G25 :)

You can even use the logitech gaming software.

Most likely this will be the case for the CSR Elite and the perhaps even the CSW.
The question than would be: Will the logitech wheels work on the PS4.

I think they will.
- Do you mean that these wheels use Logitech identity on PS3 but also on PC?
- On PC can you use also Logitech ForceFeedback driver in "Logitech Game Controller" with your wheel?
- Can you also use "Logitech Advanced Gaming Software" with your wheel?
Can you make a video to prove it (for example by launching some force effects on your wheel with "Logitech Game Controller" on the screen)?
If true then it's look like trademark infringement (except if Logitech and Sony approved this  )
It's been like that for at least 2 years now. Last year i played WRC2010 on G25 mode because the PWTS was not recognized on my PC in the game.
I'm not gonna make a video, because i love fanatec and their wheels, so why should i ?
No, at least not on PS3/PC.
3rd party controllers work like this ever since controllers are invented. For example if you buy a Logitech PS3 controller it uses Sony DUALSHOCK3 interface.
All controllers work like that unless they're officially supported by the software.
If it was 360 then there would be trouble, but on PS3 there isn't any.

Not at all. After enquiry here is what I learned:

On PS3 there is no generic support for “ForceFeedback Steering wheels”.
So game developers use the racing wheel’s SDK (Software Development Kit) to configure the device and manage the Force Feedback effects.

This SDK is related to manufacturer's VID-PID (VID = Vendor Identity & PID = Product Identity).

Currently only two SDK are available for game developers on PS3:
- Logitech PS3 SDK (related to Logitech VID-PID)
- Thrustmaster PS3 SDK (related to Thrustmaster VID-PID)

However it wasn't actually cm officialy supporting the wheel. It was a few devs who are Thomas's friends.

And the game can't be designed for a wheel not out and that they have no info about

Dr Conrad is guilty BTW

CM use Fanatec and other wheels for their own private Beta tests. They also used them at various pre release promotions including at Silverstone. All of which was evident on their own developer diaries.

Are you totally missing the point being discussed recently. The SDK helps ensure the compatibility of different brands of wheels will work on that platform. Your comment seems to ignore the fact that various wheels may share or use the required SDK but those wheels all can have very different performance and components giving the end user a very different experience.

For instance if you played F1 2011 via the CSW and a Logitech would it be the same?

Come on man be sensible.

I really start to wonder if you two are worse then cat and dog. lol

The rim was 35? I wonder how that will influence FFB. Mmm won't know until I get a CSW here I guess. Plus I can't compare it to a CSR elite either. Ah well. I'm sure Thomas will take care of it.

I understand the seb things however the ffb will be optimised for certain wheels and I think the fact that dfgt is I guess the most sold wheel. I speek to the handling dev and he disclosed that it is if course optimized for certain wheels. He just didn't say which ones. And the game was usually shown on xbox only at gamescom they showed ps3... Mainly because I'd the graphics I guess

And Logiforce were not arguing.. Latte just likes to turn things into arguments

BTW.. why isn't their a fanatec dev kit??

Im not turing anything into an argument, just questioning silly comments like this...

"Well f1s ffb feels better on the cheaper wheels as it is more aimed at them"

I dont recall you stating that in your review of the CSR either.
You seem to just make stuff up and was the PC version or PS3 version shown at Gamescom?
Maybe you should read Eurogamer to see what they said about the PS3 Vs X360 versions.

They dont need a Fanatec dev kit as it doesnt use its own SDK.
You miss the point that the coding for a games FFB and the "packet" information going to a wheel is one thing. However the ability and the performance of how each wheel operates is entirely another.

Well I guess the cm press team don't know what games they took to gamescom?? They stated clearly on Twitter and the cm forums that gamescom will mainly be ps3... Sure their would be some pcs but the vast majority were ps3...

Also why would I look at what eutogamer said when I have a copy for both consoles and can see with my eyes.. however supposedly a patch will fix this.

Anyway there's no point in us clogging the forum up so I'll drop it..

Maybe someone with both wheels can explain what I mean as I can't think of the words about the ffb.

Im not arguing about what version was at Gamescom as I dont really know and tbh it doesnt matter if it was PS3 or PC.

What you said about the game being developed to offer better FFB with cheaper wheels is a great laugh though. Maybe someone told you that on twitter too.

One question, have you played F1 on a T500RS?
I havnt bought the game but damn Im going to have to compare it on my DF-GT and T500RS based on your comment.

Does anyone have any info on when the three Beta testers should expect the wheels? I know the embargo ends Friday, so maybe around the 14th?

Just applied the Fanatec CSR v706 firmware (wheel as delievered was running v701). Wheel is now prefectly quiet in Xbox mode and the save settings bug seems to have been fixed.

I'm getting ready to do this, as well. Did you run it from an XP, Vista, or Win7 PC? Fanatec recommended using the XP PC. Did you run into any problems on updating?

Thanks.

The embargo is not determined yet as not all testers have their wheels yet. I want to give at least some days for every tester.

I will send out the wheels today from China so that they should arrive next week at the testers. The testers voted in the poll will get the latest version straight from the pre-production lane.
So I hope that we see the first reviews in week 47

Because of Fanatec's recommendation (XP) I used one of my XP virtual machines running on my Windows 7 workstation. The first time I attempted the app. crashed before the 2nd step. I rebooted and tried again and all went as expected. I was worried for a minute :nervous:

Yea..was a pain in the rear over here too. USB driver didn't want to stick. Got it working but......
Sometimes it won't recognize any button pushes. I turn on the wheel and I get the 3 dashes --- and when I try to go to PC mode or settings mode, nothing happens. Next time I try it, it works. So far, I can connect to the Xbox but, can't hook to the PS3 and can't center the wheel because I can't get to PC mode. Thomas, if you're in here reading, can ya help I guy out? Anyone, for that matter?

Thanks.

Okay! :) That's great news, as you can tell I'm very excited!

You will send out the wheels today and they should arrive next week at the testers? That means no dispatch by ship, but by airplane..? :)

Wow, thats great news. Is this new firmware available. I'm not seeing it on 911wheel.de ?

@stones:
PC or PS mode works only if the pc or ps is connected. If not, nothing happens when you try to switch.

....well sure as hell......thanks for that urm! Pullin my hair out on that one. Did a reinstall of the firmware anyways, just to be sure. Appears all is working.
Nice to have that noise not coming from the wheel whilst on the Xbox. And like Fuzzy says above, the settings appear to be saving. Also...nice. :sly:

I'll run it through both the consoles, heavily and report back with any new info.

Thanks again!

So, according to Thomas the first reviews will be available between November 21 and November 27, I hope that will be about time when we could preorder it as well :)
