I am a happily married man with a beautiful baby girl.

That said, I love you...it's just important that you know this.

Man, if the BF deal you suggested is around my budget, I will be forever buying Fanatec products.

GTFraker, No lie - I already shifted around money today in my accounts (huh "accounts", like I'm some sort of somebody!) just to be ready for tomorrow/Black Friday.

I didn't have enough time to try it yet :D

I've always dreamed of Fanatec products because you can adjust anything on top of the game's FFB (rotation angle, FFB power...) AND the Universal Hub AND the real quick release system (I know that the starter wheel is just a simplified QR). I have a lot of different rims (real ones, from the 60's, 80's and even the same one I have in my actual race car (fifth post)) and with my T500 I used them but I needed to use a homemade button box or gamepad because I didn't have any button on those rims and it was a real pain. I know that I will spend a lot of money in those Hubs but if I understand correctly they will work with the next DD wheel generation so.... I see that as a investment :D

@Fanatec... I hope the BF deals include something about CSP V3, Shifter 1.5 or F1 rim. I don't want to wait for christmas to already upgrade my setup :embarrassed:

2017 has been a year of huge expenses for me, from a 15-day Italian trip to renovating my kitchen; so, I have burned through all my expendable savings. Fanatec's post has tempted me to dig into my rainy day no-no saving account :D

Enjoy yourself, my friend!

GTF, seriously, you and me both...other than the trip to Italy! We did a ton of work in our back yard and one of our pets had a number of medical expenses.

Good timing, though, as I am just getting out on the other side. We'll see what comes tomorrow. However, and unfortunately, I doubt it will be any DD timeline news. That is fine, as I have resigned myself to that being something that may happen at the end of next year for me. We'll see.

In about a week or two I expect to have my first fanatec wheel since the GTR 2, and an upgrade to my CSR Elite pedals, the first fanatec pedals (I believe) with a load cell (2011). Those pedals have done right by me, but it is time to move on.

My 5 year old G27 has served me very well these last few years but it's time to move on! Patiently waiting like the rest of the folks around here!

Isn't it weird, nmcp1? I am eagerly looking forward to my future equipment, but I honestly was looking down on my CSR Elite pedals this morning (did one GT Sport online race before work and a couple of offline AI races) and I got a little melancholy.

No complaints on them. None. I only wish I had gotten the inverted pedal mount conversion kit when it was available years ago, but I gave up on sim or simcade racing for a good long time, so no biggie (life, family).

OH WELL!!!!!

From BF to BFF.

Hard not to like a company thats active in a forum you read. Is this for real? Today I reluctantly sent my TGT back for a full refund from Amazon, at least in part because of no reply from tm support to my request for load cell info. I ordered a CSL Elite w load cell bundle that arrives tomorrow. Im new to wheels but not to these games. I’ve been playing gt since 97. I was admittedly impatient, maybe impulsive w my TGT purchase and was pretty upset, after more information became available, that I had spent so much money for a product whos competition not only cost significantly less, but was bundled with in my opinion, an essential pedal set at that price point. (Load cell). A little anxious cuz the tgt was a good solid wheel and this will be my first fanatec product, but very encouraged by what I’m seeing right here.

It is refreshing, I'd rather deal with a company whose representatives are so easily reachable.

Maybe this will make you feel more at ease with your decision.

Full disclosure, I like fanatec and Thrustmaster. Currently using a Thrustmaster wheel, and fanatec pedals. However, I expect to be all fanatec by the end of the year, like I was a number of years ago.

Thanks. This was the review that really convinced me to send the tgt back. Isrtv basically said the same thing. I never did find a review that contradicted them, which is why I don’t think there was brand preference. I actually think they were being nice by saying tgt was “a little” overpriced. They all said it should have come w a load cell. I’m getting all of it for over 150.00 usd less than tgt and it has way more customization and versatility. If the ps4 compatibility bugs have all been worked out I will be a happy camper.

The Guy responding in the forum is none other then the ceo, Thomas, himself I was told. Don’t see the guillemot ceo posting in forums like he does. I however did my own research and chose the thrustmaster route. Time will tell if I made a wrong choice and regret my purchase. It is good however there are 2 companies punching each other to innovate and build an ecosystem! Just wished Logitech built an ecosystem when they had momentum. This would have pushed thrustmaster and fanatec to innovate further and would have also pushed for affordable prices...

Don't think anyone suggested it could/should be solved overnight.

No, see you clearly don't get it and have too narrow a view of the issue. Do you have stock in some of these companies? What I wrote, and BuckFly responded to, was not a "manifesto." What I wrote isn't just about the insignificant "sim racing steering wheel industry," it is about a general lack of standards and good practices in software engineering even at major software focused companies like SONY and how it affects their customers. The problem with wheel compatibility is just one symptom of the overall problem, and it's particularly funny when so many of the people who argue in support of playing games on a console over a PC always like to point out that "everything just works." It doesn't. And poor engineering decisions play a huge part. I also made it clear that I wasn't blaming Fanatec or Thrustmaster, or Logitech or any of the other peripheral manufacturers. They paid SONY a lot of money for licensing (a cost that is passed on to you in the price of the licensed device) to have to deal with a whole lot of misplaced hate and anger from their customers.

Implementing unique support for a whole bunch of wheels, from a whole bunch of manufacturers, in a whole bunch of games, made by tons of different companies is what leads to the disaster we all get to enjoy currently. This makes it WAY more likely from patch-to-patch, game-to-game that support for different wheels will be broken/degraded on an ever changing basis. And on top of that the devices are getting firmware updates at a fast pace so the devs on both sides are trying to hit moving targets. This is bad for you. This is bad for the peripheral manufacturers. This is a headache for the game devs. SONY has the power to make this all so much easier.

Next time you have nothing to actually contribute to a conversation, maybe keep it in your own head.

(Rolls my eyes so hard they fall out of my head)

I understand what you are getting at, but you really just seem to want to wax poetic about your perfect version of an industry you likely aren't involved in. I have put in plenty of effort trying to help people (on this forum and many others) (and PD and Fanatec) getting things fixed with the CSL Elite PS4 and getting it working well for them in GT Sport, even though I have zero involvement with this industry. You seem to just believe Sony has the ability to set some standards and solve everything, which couldn't be further from the truth. They almost certainly already have standards in place, but for more elaborate products like the CSL to be fully supported it takes more effort. Not to mention if everyone had to meet one specific set of standards then companies wouldn't be able to develop their products they way they want. Sony is clearly taking the steps you are bringing up in supporting and licensing a wheel with Fanatec, which hasn't happened before. Fanatec has taken a unique approach to the way their software is engineered, and Sony is working with them to help fully implement it on the PS4, I'm not sure what else you would like them to do. Sure it would have been nice for this to all be taken care of before anything was released, but I think it was very smart of Fanatec to get their wheel out in time for GT Sports release and get basic support implemented quickly.

All I am saying is, it is far from a disaster, everything you are going on about is already being worked on, and there is absolutely no reason to be this dramatic about it.

I had considered keeping it and getting csl lc pedals, but not only are there no adapters available right now, (and for who knows how long) but that would have me at well over a thousand bucks for something fanatec sells for 630. Basically twice as much after adding lc brake, adapter and shipping!

I don't think you will be disappointed at all. Just set expectations and until PD and Fanatec announce full support expect a few issues here and there. I ordered a CSL Elite and a G29 because I expected the CSL Elite to not be supported in GT Sport for a bit, but they quickly released the compatibility update and I never even opened the G29. I have already returned the G29 in fact. Gone through nearly the whole campaign using the CSL Elite and all the Sport mode races I have time for with good results.

The only issue at the moment is the strange on center behavior which was introduced with the GTS 1.05 update. I would imagine once PD and Fanatec have implemented full support the game should feel even better on this wheel.

My lips are sealed. It looks like we already gave away to many hints anyway. ;)

But there are plenty of features hidden on the pictures which have not been discovered yet. Features which are not only new to Fanatec but world premiers.

It is looking rather McLaren GT3-ish if you ask meeeeee! :)

Andrew will you please comment about any noise and/or maybe your experience with the FEI?

I hate always bringing my dilema up but just in brief I am torn between going full bore with the v2.5 and emulating it with my Drive Hub as I am primarily a console gamer now, but may want to do more on the PC, as opposed to the noise of the CSL Elite potentially being a factor at home with my family (I truly can only race late at night or early in the morning).

Thank you in advance.

Just a heads up, ISRTV is sponsored by TM and they are extremely biased towards them, I stay clear of their reviews as a matter of principle.

Lol! Because you are not the first to say this and even THEY said T-GT was over priced and should have come with a load cell! There were red flags all over the place which is what convinced me to trade up in value to Fanatec.

Don't know if you have seen this before, but check out the comment section for some entertainment:

I tend to drive with my sound pretty loud or while wearing headphones but I honestly don't notice any real motor noise like I have experienced with cheaper wheels where you get some strange noise when turning the wheel quickly. I think the only noise you might encounter is when hitting rumble strips depending on how strong the FFB is set. I will give it a go with the game audio off and see what I think. I could make a vide of the wheel in action.

I have been experimenting more with the wheel settings and in game settings, but this will likely all change a bit once full support is released so will be interesting to see how the FEI settings work out. So far I haven't really had any issue leaving FEI at 100. The only issue so far has been with the 1.05 update introducing the on center torque issue that can cause the wheel to oscillate when released in some cases. Again I think PD wanted to resolved some issues people were having with the G29, so a v2.5 setup that is emulating a G29 may still have these issues until Fanatec gets full support.

While I haven't played GTS yet (still waiting for the issues to be fixed before buying the game), I have played PC2 on PS4 and F7 on X1 and haven't noticed any noise issues. Actually the wheel is exceptionally quiet and the fan may kick on to it's lowest setting which is barely audible.

Seriously, man, thank you.

Have you been using the P1 wheel and if so what do you think?

Considering compatibility is in the base it's nice that it opens up the door for you on the other fanatec wheels, including the F1 wheel...or maybe the new McLaren!

We shall see, only a few more hours.
