I went through the same debate with myself when I first realised I did not like the DD Pro standard wheel. Ended up with the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel and, other than the caveat below, have been very, very happy with it. I chose it over the formula wheel because 1) GT7 just does not need that many buttons and 2) I prefer the larger rim.
I have since also bought the Clubsport Steering Wheel RS and use that for some road cars and rally/ snow TTs.
The caveat on the McLaren wheel is that the contact points behind the shifters come loose easily. There are two fixes for this. I opted for the cheap fix, which is to tape them down. I bought the wheel in Feb 2022, had to tape it about a month in, then again about 6 months later, and not once since. The other method is to upgrade to magnetic shifters (
like this). Even after that upgrade you'd still pay less than for the formula wheel. I know that sounds a bit dodgy (the issue with the shifters), but honestly, it is a fantastic wheel.
