The wheel turns, ever so slightly, left and right. That and vibration really is all ffb is no?
Hey man, been reading your posts with interest because it sounds like you've made a quite extreme transition, from d-pad and buttons straight to wheel and load cell too! It's honestly all I ever feel, the wheel twitching back and forth through corners. I dunno, it's weird, I expected more subtle vibrations but there's a lot of tugging.
I've half a mind to turn it all off.
I appreciate this response. I am 99.99pc sure my gear is 100pc fine, as you said, it's a massive change from D-Pad and I need to ditch old habits. I feel like I have the throttle about right now, I alternate between TC1 and 2 but I am struggling with the brakes and struggling on where to turn in and how much speed to carry. I am often missing my apex by turning in too late, not through late braking but through mis-timing my entry.Hey man, been reading your posts with interest because it sounds like you've made a quite extreme transition, from d-pad and buttons straight to wheel and load cell too!
Firstly I think if you have access to anyone else who uses a wheel they should come over and test your kit, make sure it feels correct.
Secondly, if you have the FFB turned down to 1 you are not going to get, in my opinion, enough feedback through the wheel to drive effectively. When you turn at speed then the force is going to build up and you want to feel that force until you get to the max load - the max amount of grip - once you go over this point the force decreases and so does your grip until you get to oversteer sliding and the silly GT vibration 'alert'. Ideally you never want to get to this point.
This takes some time to learn but stick with it. The twitching sounds like the car going past the available amount of grip and the wheel naturally trying to correct, sort of like drifting when drivers let the wheel turn to catch slides, if you hold the wheel with a soft grip you can let the wheel save your slides by letting it turn naturally.
Finally, if I was going from buttons to wheel I don't know if I'd start with a load cell, I think it might be overcomplicating the transition. I'd start without a load cell if possible, I don't know if that's possible though depending on what kit you've bought.
Overall I'd say stick with it, it takes time to adjust, you've picked a very tough mission! With d-pad and buttons the game adds a lot of extra smoothing to make a car drivable, now you're in control of all that smoothing and that probably feels very unnatural. You are now balancing the car by feeling the force in the wheel and responding to it, eventually this becomes automatic and very rewarding and immersive too, so good luck and don't quit!

Firstly, appreciate the response PirovacIf you drive race cars in GT7 they have very bad and unrealistic oscillation at high speed especially if you use force feedback sensitivity higher than 1, for this reason, stick to road cars.
The oscillations being talked about occur at high speeds on cars w racing tires - if you let go of the wheel it will spin back and forth strongly. It is a result of the GT7 physics/tire grip and the FFB signals used interacting and they have not yet sorted itFirstly, appreciate the response Pirovac
Maybe Osciallation is a better word than twisting. Just ran a few laps at SPA in the Time trial with the NSX lovely car to drive but yeah on longer faster corners the wheel constantly judders left and right, it's so, so off putting. Is there a way I can change the setting in the Fanatec APP to give me more vibration and less oscillation? The twisting/oscillation left and right on a constant radius turn is so alien.
THanks for this, yeah this is what I am experiencing. Just watched Tigney's lap guide and good god you guys are going flat through Radillion? The oscillations being talked about occur at high speeds on cars w racing tires - if you let go of the wheel it will spin back and forth strongly. Several ways to turn it down a bit in the various posts on this. Lowering sensitivity in game, increasing DPR, decreasing FOR in the wheel tuning are ways to lower it but this affects other FF response so you’ll have to try tuning it to your taste
Varies by car too as the suspension geometry or modeling seems to be part of it
This does sound a bit suspect to me.No it always site to the right no matter the setting or situation. So if I let the wheel go, it "sags" 4 degrees to the right. So I cannot lightly control the wheel on straights, i have to keep the wheel straight myself.
The NSX on slick hards is a stiff and unforgiving ride at Spa, you do get used to it though.OK I spent the week with the Merc F1 car in Race A, FFB felt good and I gained a lot of confidence. Decided to take the NSX for a spin in the SPA time trial and yeah it's that oscillation you guys speak of, feels all sorts of wrong. The tugging left and right through Pouhon is really bad and unsettles the car a bit.
Give mine a go, open the link in my signature. I've been tweaking them a bit lately but these are the latest.Hi all, my first time posting so here goes.
I bought the Fanatec DD pro 8nm for Gran Turismo this week and set it up two days ago.
I am having fun so far but something with it doesn't feel right so was looking for some recommended settings for a first time wheel user. Would like to compare and tweak with what I have at the moment. Looking for both tune settings and in game settings if anyone would be kind enough to share them!
Been playing GT since the first ever one and on controller online my ratings were B / S . If that helps !
Thanks
Lewis
I'm really happy with mine. Took a bit of trial and error but eventually settled on one blue + 2 black elastomers and the damper at the top on the brake. With the throttle I've kept the damper in the bottom position but moved the spring right up with about 2/3 tension.View attachment 1422874
I broke down !!!! 😍😍
I finally managed to place a pre-order. They were always out of stock because there is so much demand !!!!
I really can't wait to try them. With all the good things that people who have them say, I hope I did well to have taken the plunge. I'm happy with the springs that I changed on the Fanatec Load Cell pedal but I wanted something more realistic and with greater possibility of adjustment on both the brake and the accelerator.
OK I have had about enough of my wheel not sitting straight. I am suffering the same issue displayed here
I centre the wheel in the Fanatec app, 0 degrees is where the wheel is dead straight, however when I release the wheel from my hands it relentlessly sits 5 degrees to the right. I am constantly correcting on the straights and this week it is really super annoying with the mega sensitive Karts. Thread above blames magnets and nothing you can do about it, does this feel right? My only other idea is the horseshoe shaped collar is currently positioned so it's heavy side is on the right, could this be tilting the wheel?
Related to the above, I tried to remove the collar, turning the allen key screw anti-clockwise and it is INSANELY difficult, is this the correct direction? I feel like I am going to break something if I keep going. My idea is to take it off then put it back so the heavy side is at the bottom of the wheel.
Any help would be appreciated, I am really starting to get the hang o driving with a wheel and starting to really enjoy it but this decentering is driving me nuts.
Letting go is the wrong term, but you know when you hit a straight and you sort of relax your hands, I cannot, I am constantly correcting. The joint in the clamp is supposed to sit on the side so that the gap in that lines up with the one on the shaft. This is so it exerts even pressure and doesn't damage the base.
And I have to ask why you're letting go of the wheel on the straights? If you're holding it the wheel will stay centred so don't let go of it, I never do.
