It is a V2 you can see it in the pictures but it’s the same internals as the V1.
Now to add to the conversation about notchiness as an AFV2 owner coming directly from a CSW V2 I can tell you anyone who says it’s just as smooth either hasn’t tried a smooth wheel or is lying. That being said I would say notchiness isn’t the right way to describe how it feels and makes it sound much worse than it is like cogging on logitech wheels.
In actuality what you can feel when there is no FFB is more like a very gentle rumble/buzz and obviously when you’re actually driving you’re getting FFB so can’t feel it at all. So yes it’s there in the actual mechanism/motor but not in the FFB delivery.
Now I’ve discussed it with @DomB_Fanatec in relation to how it compares to the Podium base because although I can’t feel it normally knowing it’s there and feeling it when the wheels off or not doing anything does bother me a bit.
That being said I’m still waiting on the other things I outlined before deciding as CSW rims are a downgrade on custom ones and the Sim Commander software is great for setting up FFB easily especially in games where the base FFB is terrible (Dirt Rally) or cryptic (PCars), then there’s questions of reliability but as soon as those are known I’ll either swap or stick to what I have.
That sounds about right. I think that you can disregard the cogging to no end comments and the AF is completely smooth comments. I think that Barry's review at the Sim Racing Garage is probably the most accurate. He was happy that he could get the AFV2 ffb to what he liked but thought it was missing just a little compared to bodnar/OSW and felt that there were differences between the smoothness of the different wheels. It sounds like the Fanatec wheel is around where the OSW is. It all comes down to this comment by Barry: "FFB "feel" is a very subjective thing. I don't think there is one right choice for everyone. Many factors will be in play to determine which one you like best. I suggest you try as many as you can to make up your own mind."
