he said that it's real and that he does it alot :odd: and he said that he doesn't know what you're talking about fuel economy gauge.

does it help if i say the car is a rhd??

if thats the case either his fuel economy gauge is broken or he is lying. only those two options. there is no way an operating fuel economly gauge should be where that one is if he is doing 120mph. the faster you go, the more fuel you use. his gauge is on the economy side, which means either the engine isnt on or its broken.

the traction control/ ASR/ stability control light usually only lights up when you lose traction, laterally (ASR or anti skid control, also known as stability control) or longitudinally (traction control.) if you break traction with the tires coz youre accelerating, the engine will cut power and flash the light to let you know. if you get into a skid, again the light will flash.

but it doesnt stay on all the time.

in this case, the light is on, at 120mph+ which means he is about to hit a big mothertruckin tree going sideways, or he managed to accelerate and break traction at redline at over 120mph. to which i would say bull****. there arent many cars that can flash a traction control light at 120, unless they are driving on some sorry ass tires.

what i think is that your friend managed to get the speedo and tach needles to sweep by messing around with the electrical connections or something.

again, i call BS.

Or the car could be a junker since it is down in the islands. When I was down there a good number of cars appeared to be junkers. Plus on a car that old something is bound to be broken and going that kind of speed all the time will break stuff anyways.

If you look closely its a L/100km economy gauge, its maxed out which is over 20Litres of fuel per 100km's so the gauge is showing the worst fuel economy not good economy. If the gauge showed the other way it would mean it was running 0 litres of fuel per 100km's.

Remember it is not a miles per gallon gauge which is the other way around.

ok then, i guess it's BS. :)

the car is not a junker.

and yes, if you come down... you'll see alot of ****ty cars on the road to tell the truth :yuck: cuz all the really fast cars are normally hidden in garages and are hardly driven... you'd have to go to the old airport strip to see some nice cars. i have lots of nice pics, but i dont want to clutter up your guys thread anymore

sorry if i got you guys p*ssed off, i hope you don't think i'm some kind of a liar or anything

Meanwhile the traction control light could simply be broken. I've had that problem with various cars over the years.

I doubt it. My pushrod V6 makes 375 rw ft-lbs. and I'm not confident I could cause a need for a traction control light at 120 mph. My car doesn't have a traction control system but I mean to say if it did even. I honestly don't care to try to break my tires loose at those speeds either because that'd be mad scary!

Also note that many traction control systems don't cut power to the wheels, but actually apply brakes. That's why after a certain speed these systems normally cease to function because it'd be just plain dangerous at high speeds. This is why I always just turned the TCS off in my mom's car years ago, even in snow, because it went through brake pads fast, often unnecessarily.

As a Driver: 83 on highway 36 in my dad's I30... on Missouri roads. What was I thinking? :ill: (it was only for a minute)

107 as passenger in Dad's I30,

Sidenote: Friend of our family's mom was going to see her husband in the hospital (he was dying of pancreatic cancer) and got pulled over for going 118 in a 45. The judge heard her story and threw the ticket out!

That's awesome! 👍

On City Streets/Highways:
1) 145mph in a '93 3000GT VR4 on SH75 in Plano, TX (1999)
2) 140mph in a '95 Nissan Maxima w/no rev limiter on I35 in Lewisville, TX (2004)
3) 140mph in a '99 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor on I35 in Lewisville, TX (2004) (Yes I owned this car, I bought it for $5000 on eBay)
4) 135mph in a '04 350Z on I20 in Ft. Worth, TX (2003)
5) 129mph in a '90 Camaro RS 302ci V8 on SH121B in Carrollton, TX (Govenor limited) (2001)
6) 120mph in a '98 Nissan 200SX SE-R on I35 in Lewisville, TX (2004 & 2005) (Govenor is supposed to be 118 but the speedo said 120mph)
7) 100mph cruising in a '04 Nissan Frontier 4cyl. on I35 going from Austin, TX to Waco, TX (2003)

When I had my SE-R I went over 90-100mph daily to work on I35E.

Fastest I've gone in my current car (2004 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V) is about 125mph. I was disappointed to find that the cruise control doesn't work above about 90.

I found a way around that in my SE-R...set the cruise at 89mph and hold the accelerate button until redline. It's funny...I cruised at 110mph with no problem...but not for very long. That will get you where you are going in a hurry. 👍

Of course we're all traveling more than 66,000 mph around the Sun.

(yea I know its geeky)

I went about 134mph in my 300zx tt on I4 heading towerds Orlando :nervous: I got sceard and backed down.I could have propley gone over 150 at least If I have the guts :nervous:

155mph in Merc S500, Audi S8 and Lexus LS400. The LS400 and S8 were for sustained periods of time, the former on German Autobahn and the latter on the M62 in Northern England. The S500 was only for about 8miles in the dead of night on a dual carraigeway where I live.

The larger cars make going that fast much more comfortable.

You can say that again ;)...BMW E34 M5 at 260kmh....but.....somehow heavier cars are less fun ( I mean the very late ones ) around a track.......

Very true, but then I don't drive much around a track so having a big fast motorway cruiser is more beneficial to me.

I've done 80 mph... sideways, backwards... and :ouch:...

Huhg.....what happened?

Long story short:
1. I'm a tee-totaler, hardly ever drink, thus I'm ALWAYS the designated driver.
2. My own bachelor party, what the hell, might as well have a few.
3. A few turns into a lot.
4. New car, nice handling.
5. The last time I'd ever driven under the influence was five years ago. When you KNOW you're drunk, you drive much MUCH slower. If you're used to being the only sober person in the crowd, you don't even realize it.
6. Nice, quick car, no streetlights, dusty road (very dusty), sharp turn. Half asleep.
7. End of story.

Thank god it was all panel damage and not chassis twisting. :indiff:

And I'm never drinking again. Didn't need this damn "lesson", as I had sworn off alcohol already ANYWAY!

Fastest I've gone sanely? 100mph up a mountain, following an X5. That guy was nuts.

Straightline speed doesn't count. 600mph in a 747 doesn't count.

I've broken my record today. Previously the fastest in my own car was 95 mph in the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Today, in the TurboBrick, I hit an indicated 100 mph -- and will NEVER EVER do that again. I can't afford to crash or even worse -- lose my license. :dopey: I kept it REALLY close to the speed limit after that. The wastegate must have been stuck closed or something because it just kept on pulling. :nervous: It's not suppose to do that?! :ill:

Ha ha ha. Congratulations, MrktMkr. :D I remember the first time I did a hundred for the first time. It felt very fast in my '85 Maxima(my first car!). But in today's cars, you won't even feel anything.

Added today:

115mph 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 SES on I35 in Lewisville, TX

Tip for you Focus drivers with a Duratec 2.0l motor, once above 90mph turn off your O/D if you want to get above 105mph--otherwise you'll be SLOWLY gaining from 100-115mph that will literally take forever just to get to 110mph.

It should keep pulling intill you take your foot off the throttle:sly:.
