I did 110 mph yesterday in my 92 Stanza. The speed limit is 75 (which means everyone goes 85), and I had to make a pit stop, and my wife didn't, so she kept driving (we're moving to go back to school, so we were both driving). I had to speed a little to catch up. Not bad for a little NA 2.4 liter.

225 km/h (140mph) in my WRX road car. It took quite some time to get there but there is a lot of space in western New South Wales :D

That figure was taken from a calibrated Terratrip; the car's speedo was reading 240 km/h.

Oh, and I've done 195 km/h on gravel in the rally car. And that's exciting

Compared to what I've read here, what I've done seemed... slow

I've done only just above 90 mph. I did it in my parents minivan though...

103 MPH: Cheverolet Silverado Z71 5.3 '01 (Passenger): My dad said he would have gone faster but the bloody speed limiter wouldn't have it, nor would the window shade over the windshield..
107 MPH: Dodge Shadow ES '91 (Passenger): as fast as my mom was ever willing to drive with me in the car. She said she had gotten it up as high as 114 once, but not with me in the car.

got my 01' Sentra SE up to 205 km/h a couple of weeks ago....sunroof whistled like and old man on a sunny day though

porsche boxster s "Its my neighbor's"-135mph very scare
190mph- In an indy car riding shotgun.Rode around a track and really didn't seem that fast. the porsche seemed much faster.

I hit 100mph in my Grand Cherokee the other day.

My all time, however, is somewhere around 135mph in my old V6 Mustang.

245kph - Buick Turbo T 87, bolt ons with stock lock up converter, highway car
220kph - Buick Turbo T 87, more serious bolt ons with 3500 non lock up, drag setup
210kph - Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 92, 3.4 24 valve motor, chipped, air filter, modified exhaust line, highway car
175kph - Pontiac Sunfire 05, gay lord cutoff at 175, with a flashed computer should hit 200 no problem

I'm not much of a top speed guy, for me the important thing is the time it takes to reach your top speed.

damn. I wouldnt want to go 140 in a 4th gen Maxima. Does it have any mods?

The fastest I've gone is about 115 mph in my 90 Maxima. I would have gone faster, but remembered my tires are only rated to go 118 so I let off the gas pedal.
The 4th Gen really pulled nicely till 140, but at 120 it felt like it hit a wall, it wasnt really too aerodynamic. LOL

I've had just over the 140 mark in my 525, which was reasonably comfortable. Then my mate phil took me for a blast in his 740i. we sat at 155 for the full length of the UK's M69. It felt like I could have got out and walked. It was so quiet we had a conversation at normal talking volume. Lovely.

A complete opposite to my bike which I've had at about 165 ish, while the speedo was lying to me, teling me I was doing 180 on a 600cc bike. I could barely see straight for the turbulence and noise.

Kurtis.

Okay, the M69 is fairly short, hardly congested... But cruising at 155 for the full length?

That's abit dodgy.

Why are most of the faster people in Europe? Why are Americans so scared of speed, comparably?

My best was about 145ish in my Brothers 350Z... 160 when my brother drives... after that, probly about 120 in a Dodge Stratus R/T

One word: Autobahn.... oh, two words, really... de-restricted Autobahn.

The other day I was in my buddies Ion Redline and got it up to 138, GM says it will go 144 though.

Scared of speed? Nope, there are more cops per drivers in the US than Europe that concetrate purely on traffic patrol. People in America drive faster than you think. A friend of mine drove his bike 175mph at night on the highway--I call that fast. Albeit I obviously don't condone driving over 100 during the daylight hours...it's too much of a risk to kill someone else. If you wreck at that speed then it's your own fault--just hit a poll or guardrail and aviod other people. 👍

Did around 230 kmh in my ride coming back from a night in the clubs.
Didn't know my car could slow down to 120kmh from that speed so fast when I had to slam on the brakes as a C5 Corvette went into my lane trying to pass someone. Would have crapped my pants if my friend and I weren't so out of it.

That, and american cops see traffic tickets as a form of revenue more than a public safety service. Though, from what I've heard, Britain is the same way... :indiff:

a friend of mine, lance warren, in his 98 HSV Clubsport R8. for you americans, go here, http://www.hsv.com.au and you will be filled in.

this is only in 5th gear, still with 6th to go and is pulling around 280 - 290 kmh (175 - 181 mph).

the photos too big to upload here (286k) but visit the website below and youll find it. theres even video proof too so that you dont think hes done it with photo shop or some program.

thats power my friends...and polak if your still watching....GET THAT UP YA!!!!!

visit http://www.3rotor.com to see more of lances HSV, his 2 mazda cosmos and heaps of other quality stuff. has heaps of vids, really sweet supra powerslide with smoke pissin off the wheels at 180 - 200 kmh...its all worth a look.

That's really quite impressive! I had never heard of those "HSV's".

Anyways, the fastest I've been was on the autoroute in France going home to Switzerland. Had just been go-karting with my dad and his friend and did give or take 275-280 km/h in a Porsche 993 GT2 with about 480 HP.

Did 260 km/h in an Audi S6+, but wouldn't be able to give more information about the car.

170 km/h in a go-kart, now that's the ****!

Oh and lol about Polak... first 240 mp/h, then 200, then 176, then 170 and then ban :dopey:

I know what you mean! Used to drive this completely out of shape Yamaha XT 500, not even disk brakes, and it felt so fast like 120 km/h was almost scary. Whereas I've been in an Aston Martin Virage at about 180-190 km/h and if felt like.. doing 40 km/h in a Volkswagen Golf II Gti..

yes cops have a quota per month usually near the end of the month theres speed traps everywhere and yes its not that were scared of speed were scared of the ticket you get if cought while speeding hell almost any car can go over 100mph just takes longer is some cars than others me ive never gone faster than 135 or 140 but a friend of mine showed me the gps from his 01 gsxr-1000 that said he was doin 182 this was late at night on a chicago tollway

That and the fact that most cops here are eager to ticket for speed rathere than other moving violations. If you stay at or under the speed limit you pretty much can never get pulled over.

Oh, chalk this up on my list (was on my cell phone since I took it in December). It's a 2006 Ford F150--seems that the govenor was shortly past that point. It didn't even reach 100mph.

2 years ago on the German highway: 157 mph in my Mondeo ST220. Taking the deviation in account ==> 153 mph.

I've done 210 kph (132 mph) the other day in my BMW 323i. The problem is that it's on winter tires at the moment, which only go up to 190 kph (119 mph). As soon as I get my new summer tires, I'll have a v-max run on the famous, unrestricted German Autobahn. :D

Officially, this car will do 227 kph (142 mph), but it's known to be a bit quicker, cause it was artificially watered down to fill the gap between the 320i and the 325i. Inofficially, it has some more grunt than the papers will grant you. So, I expect to see 240+ kph (150+ mph) on the speedo. :dopey:

Govenors save lives, but ruin more fun then anything. My dads '91 F150 hit 180kmh pretty easy, so ungoverned, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it being a 5 speed or not.

My Grand Am's got 1 at 105 or 108...looks like 105, but word is it's at 108...

I've still only heard of people freaking out about people going "to Go***mn fast!" in America... but maybe it's cause I live here...
