Hope this helps who is that guy?:ouch::banghead:

Russel Peters
Dave Chapelle
Ralphie May
Ricky Gervais
Jim Carey
Eddie Murphy
Lee Evans

I've detailed my favourite stand-up comedians in that thread, but to add to that, my favourite comedians are Spike Milligan (mad genius creator of The Goon Show), John Cleese (the Milligan-inspired "head" of Monty Python), Ronnie Barker (one half of The Two Ronnies), Ben Elton (creator of The Young Ones and the man who made Blackadder funny), Chris Morris (Brass Eye, The Day Today), Rob Brydon (Marion & Geoff, Human Remains), Julia Davis (Human Remains/Nighty Night) and last but by no means least, my favourite current comedian and comic actor, Steve Coogan (I'm Alan Partridge, Saxondale... but none of his "funny" movies, though)

I agree with the vast majority of these 👍 I just watched Brass Eye for the first time on 4od in the last couple of weeks (I was only about 10 the first time around, I doubt I would have appreciated it) and it is absolutely brilliant. Some of his stories he makes up (i.e. the unfortunate elephant, 'cake,') are so far-fetched, yet still convinces celebries and politicians so back his campaigns! In terms of daring, I think Sascha Baron Cohen is very similar.

Coogan and Barker are in Alan Partridge and Porridge respectively; two of my favourite sitcoms. Ricky Gervais is also brlliant, both in TV (The Office, Extras, and in stand up). And the entire team behind Father Ted, because that is the best sitcom ever.

As for standups, my favourites are Frankie Boyle, Lee Evans, Michael McIntyre, Jack Dee (hasn't got a mention yet!) and Dara O'Brien is really good both in stand up and on Mock the Week.

After having seen him live, I'd say that Ed Byrne is one of the best stand-ups around at the moment. His "what are you thinking?" sketch is brilliant:

Caution: language warning

And the Alanis Morrisette one is even better:

Ross Noble is very funny too but an acquired taste. The comedian I really want to see live is Dylan Moran, who from the sketches I've seen on TV is absolutely hilarious. Black Books with Moran and Bill Bailey is brilliant too.

Black Books is great stuff too Dylan Moran is hillarious. Smoothly linking (via Tamsin Greig) to Green Wing , which is (nearly) up with Father Ted in terms of sitcoms.

One of the few clips acceptable to post I could find, only some mild innuendo in here.

Louis CK.

Funny as hell, although the least AUP-friendly act I've heard in a while...

100% agree. Would love to post some of his stuff but I would have to ban myself

EDIT - Found a user-friendly clip! Interview with him on the Conan show!

Wow, Chris Rock is a comedian? Never knew that. I thought he was another drunkard standing on a street corner railing against the world. Can't watch his act long enough to care about what he's saying.

Ok, if you want vulgar, Roy Chubby Brown is the man.

So in no particular order:

- Lee Evans (bit hit and miss at times, but love his energy, writing and honesty)
- Monty Python
- Robin Williams (the man is a genius)
- Ummm.....

Very nice! Have you seen his latest Comedy Centrail special? The bit about giving deer AIDS was one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

Steven Wright, Demetri Martin, Ralphie May, Pablo Francisco, Michael Winslow, Kyle something, Brian Regan, plus a bunch more.

Michael McIntyre
Lee Evans
Bill Bailey
Russell Howard
Omid Djalili
Robin Williams
Alan Carr
Wayne Brady
Les Dawson
Ross Noble

I find Jeff Dunham funny but for only one reason:

(If you are easily offended, don't watch)

Why am I the only one who has mentioned Eddie Izzard? You guys, this is pathetic…

Without a doubt my personal all time favorite comedian is the late, great, Mitch Hedberg.

Ricky Gervais is great too and about as different in style from Hedberg as possible. As for the Chris Rock discussion above... I've seen most all his stuff and I thought he was a lot funnier ten years ago, sort of sad self parody now. The railing against the world accusation and not caring enough to listen to him is a bit overblown though. His sitcom (Everybody Hates Chris), while mostly average in quality I'd say, at least proves he has a softer side.

I just watched a clip with Patrice O'Neal. Man! I haven't laughed so hard in a loooong time.

WARNING: very explicit language

Bit late to the party, but I 🤬 hate Dunham, if not simply because of the waaaay overused "I keel you" part!

Don't really have a favorite Comedian but I like a few comic actors.

Ryan Stiles!! He's brilliant, and was especially great when they used to do 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'

Steve Coogan, Paul Whitehouse, Harry Enfield, Charlie Higson and Rik Mayal to name a few.

Only American comic actors I like are Leslie Nielson and Ben Stiller.

Going back a ways:
Jerry Clower (Country comedy at it's best)
Richard Pryor (He was Richard effing-Pryor)
Bill Cosby (Always family friendly)
Gabriel Iglesias (What's funnier than a "fluffy" guy laughing at himself?)
&
my cousin Trent Davis (He does stand up on the side, and pulls stuff out of his hat impromtu. A great skill if you ask me)
and if you You Tube up Jim Summers you'll find a comic to watch for in the future. (Can see the funny side of just about everything. Has been able to since we were in junior high...)

I used to like Paula Poundstone, Ellen Degeneres, Joy Behar (before she became the shrew of "The View") for the ladies.

There's a couple of classic Aussie comedians that make the whole list so far seem like a group of school children and that includes Rock, Chappelle & Katt Williams.

Go search for Kevin "Bloody" Wilson and Rodney Rude on YouTube (I am not linking any of it otherwise I will be baanhammered 20 times from Sunday) and learn some comedy where F's & C's are occurring every second word. If there's any one song worth searching for it's from Kevin and it's called "Santa Claus you 🤬", well worth listening to. ;)

George Carlin

I also found this guy on iTunes a couple of weeks ago. His name is Andy Andrist. He's fricken hilarious. Go and find "wal-mart sucks" and "dumb it down". Don't listen AT ALL though if you easily offended in the slightest.
