Favourite Comedian(s)

My favourite comedian is...

MYSELF.

No friends I bet will make you laugh more than any comedian.

John Pinette. Of all the stand-up I've ever heard, nobody has made me laugh harder the first time I heard his or her act.

Unfortunately, his 2nd special wasn't as good. But the great part is that he's a clean act and that's rare these days. You probably won't laugh as much if you're not fat or into food.

I have to agree with this, when I think of other comedians, I go through all the big names; George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Louis CK, Russel Peters, etc etc.

None of them compare to Pinette for me when it comes to straight up laughs. I relate to it, as I'm both fat and in to food. I like that it's okay to watch with my girlfriend's mom, it's not raunchy or explicit in any way, just good ol' fashioned fat humour.

After him, I'd put Carlin as my 2nd favourite, followed by CK, Chappelle, and old Russell Peters. His newer stuff is garbage.

Irish comedians. O'Brien and Moran. Period.

Dara O'Brien, you mentioned him for me though, as had many others before me.
Dara Ó Briain?

My favourites are Billy Connolly, Bill Bailey, Chris Addison, Ed Byrne. Reg D Hunter is good on TV panel shows but his stand up wasn't much good. We're also going to see Danny Bhoy later in the year.

Well, is there a comedian called O'Brien? Cause I think we were all on about the same guy.

And Ed Byrne was someone I was trying to think of, thanks.

I love Dara, he's a legend. Most of the UK comedians these days tend to be pretty good though, although I can't stand Mickey Flanagan (sp?) (we get it, you're cockney), and any comedians who get their jokes across just by shouting at the audience.

That being said, I love Rhod Gilbert.

^A friend of mine knows him. Should check him out.

I have quite a few. Without a particular order:

Kostas Chatzichristos, Thanasis Vegos, Sotiris Moustakas, Stathis Psaltis, Yannis Servetas, Andonis Kanakis, Sotiris Kalyvatsis, Mitsikostas, Markos Seferlis, Kostas Tsakonas, Vasilis Tsilivikas, Petros Fillipidis, Kostas Voutsas, Panos Michalopoulos, Michalis Mosios, Hary Klin, Nikos Papanastasiou, Yannis Zouganelis, Kostas Makedos, Markos Lezes, Spyros Kalogirou, Lefteris Meletis, Yannis Bezos and I'm forgetting a couple.

Off the top of my head, Gabriel Iglesias, Mitch Fatel, and a local Hawaii legend, Rap Reiplinger, who has long since passed on. But his works are still enjoyed even til today, I know I do.

This is a little skit from his VHS tape, I think came out in 1982? So this is older than I am.

Mitch Hedberg has no delivery and is just a library of high-on-marijuana thoughts.

For me it just has to be Billy Connelly, seen him a few times and I always end up with bruised insides from laughing so much.👍

Heh, I've seen quite a few of the names on this list. I guess that's what comes of living in Edinburgh.

Ed Byrne (once) and Dara O'Briain (twice) were excellent storytellers.

Demetri Martin (once) was a real intellectual experience, about 4/5ths of the time puzzled, and 1/5th in hysterics. Had to work for the laughs with him.

Frankie Boyle (twice) is alternately funny and not funny. It's fine though, he wanders around the comedic landscape, so some things you'll think are funny, others not so much.

Bill Bailey (once, at a Citrix closing keynote) was hilarious, although that was augmented by about 6 pints (three with customers, three with suppliers).

I'd agree with daan that Reginald D Hunter (once) wasn't as good as I'd hoped in stand up. He seemed kinda nervous.

Stephen K Amos (twice, once at a cookery demonstration) was utterly hilarious.

Otherwise, I've watched a lot of standup on TV. I don't really get the fascination with Lee Evans. And I actively dislike Rhod Gilbert. He personifies getting wound up for the sake of it, and sometimes he seems to mistime his run, and his end delivery kinda runs out of steam. I'd like to see Billy Connolly one day, although I guess age has mellowed him somewhat.

So many to choose from, people who stand out for me have got to be Sarah Millican, Reg D Hunter, Michael McIntyre and of course Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson for Bottom and The Young Ones :D

I'm seeing Dara O'Briain and Rhod Gilbert a week apart later in the year! Major excitement, although I couldn't get tickets to Kevin Bridges :(
