This pack is the best so far in my opinion.

R18 - awesome
Quattro S1 - awesome
787B - awesome
Abruzzi - nicer than I expected
155 Q4 - nice, shame it's not a super tourer or a DTM spec one though
Rampage charger - meh, massive 🤬 wheels going on there
Continental GT - meh, pretty much what you'd expect from an LA 'tuner' (how they're allowed to have 'motorsport' in their name I'll never know)
Mustang Cobra R - not a fan and it's horribly dated but is at least of a cult status so it's acceptable
Holden HSV GTS - nice
Polo GTI - unexpectedly nice

The only cars I don't really like or think don't serve any 'purpose' in the pack are the two silly 'tuner' or more aptly put 'show' cars.

Maybe it was the JGTC that banned rotaries...I know it was banned somewhere...just like AWD was banned from a lot of disciplines...still is in places.

And there's a ton of Forz-tographers who beg to differ. Remember this game is for everyone. ;)

Ok, let me rephrase it. Why is the 787B such a popluar car. Its praised in GT5 so much, and now everyone is having an orgasm about it being in FM4. It won Le Mans as the first JP car to do so. Is that it?

Just trying to understand.

THIS

plus knowing what T10's audio devision can do in FM4.

Gotta love that Japanese commentator in some way it reminds me of the glorydays of GT1 and 2.

flo
i'm disapointed.

787b is awesome,
r18 is cool, people wanted that..

but, the other cars. :( there's 2 (the dodge and the bentley) that are basicaly just updated kit version of what we have in game, and that HSV, what is that? lol. still, i got the season pass, and once i drive these my opinion might change.

That's like saying no T10 dont model the 458 scuderia or the Sa Aperta 599 it's just the same car with a different bodystyle.. The Bentley and the Dodge where the 2 cars that where picked by T10 staff at the big launch party at E3 last year if i am correct.

I dont know about you but this is the Best DLC pack i've ever seen so far next too the Hot Holidays Pack from FM3. The Panoz looks mean as **** The 787 is a no brainer, The Alfa is another brilliant addition to the family cant wait too kit that baby out, The S1.......aaaaahhhhhh... The S1.., The Bentley looks beastly and finally the R18 another one for my Lm racers collection.

Well, just to give my thoughts on the individual cars:

  • 1991 Mazda #55 Team Mazdaspeed 787B - Glorious sound, and a legendary Le Mans winner. A must have!
  • 2011 #2 Audi Sport North America R18 TDI - Another Le Mans winner. As someone who rooted for Audi during the last Le Mans, who enjoyed the thrill of that 'last man standing'-kinda battle of the R18, I love it!
  • 2011 Bentley Platinum Motorsports Continental GT - Not the kind of car I care about, as I dislike Bentleys, but it does look good and I'll surely take it for a spin just to snap a few pictures.
  • 2010 Dodge Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Challenger SRT8 - Same as aboth, as soon as I've changed the wheels.
  • 1986 #2 Audi Sport quattro S1 - I've been waiting for this car to make its appearence for way too long! So glad to see it in FM4!
  • 2011 Panoz #050 Panoz Racing Abruzzi - That one, I really don't care about. Meh.
  • 1992 Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 - Goes oh so well with the E30 M3 and the 190E Evo II. It might not be the actual DTM car, but having that with a DTM-esque body kit would be friggin' sweet. With that in mind, it's probably my favourite from this pack.
  • 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R - Not my favourite Mustang, but it completes the cycle, so I guess it was about time. Still, not that excited about it.
  • 2011 Holden HSV GTS - Not a big fan of the HSV w427, so I'm exactly hot about the GTS. However, some Aussie love is sorely needed, so I'm supporting that. Now, let's talk about Bathurst, T10 :D
  • 2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI - Well, it's kinda cool to see it in the game, mainly because a friend of mine drives one

The 787B is very popular because of its Group C roots. Group C auto racing was essentially what Group B was for rallying. These cars were extremely fast, easily achieving upwards of 240 mph on the Mulsanne at Le Mans. These cars were the reason chicanes were added later on. I would love T10 to add more of these Group C cars in game.

Well, to be honest I was about to buy season pass, but this DLC... I dunno. 2 totally wasted cars like Rampage whatever and Bentley just say what kind of DLCs we are going to expect in the future. This just shows that T10 are really after the young aged guys of Rampage fans and just awful designed cars. Of course, they get most of their money from them, rather than us - true racing lovers.

Audi R18? Cmon, don't we have like 3 of pretty much the same cars? (I know, GT5 managed to make 50 same kind of cars, but that's why I am loving Forza).

Loving the Mazda. Also, all of this patch road cars are cool, even the Polo. Audi S1 looks bit out of game (wut?) - no rally tracks, so what's the point?

Other than that, my opinion might be biased, because I don't really like all of these R3-R2-R1 cars..

These two statements contradict each other, if you were a "true racing lover" you would know that the R18 is nothing like any car in Forza 4 other than being a Audi prototype.

Fake Edit: Justin already said what I was going to, no need to say it twice.

But you have a point Domas; this DLC is focused more towards racecars. As a fan of LMPs though, this suits me perfectly! I really hope the 787B is done "justice" though, and not over-represented soundwise (gah, words fail me).

Now if only T10 could get some alone time with the Toyota TS030 :P

Throw in some of the IMSA GTP cars from the same era and you've got the makings of a good historic series in FM4. Too bad the Porsche 962's wouldn't be a part of it.

That car does make a pretty noise doesn't it.

Probably seen by many already but amazing video nontheless showcasing 787B sound... Really excited for this one.

...and just the simple fact that its a manual makes it even more great!

I don't quite understand why people don't like the real racecars in the game?
Surely it would be a challenge and be the closest to the real race pros...

Also this IS THE ALMS pack.
WHat did you expect, a Camry?

Well you would think a car pack entitled ALMS would feature nothing but cars from ALMS.

edit: about actual race cars in game...I never use the real race cars in game. I don't find it fun at all. Too hard to control (all depends on driving style and differs from person to person). I have infinitely more fun driving "normal" every day cars and tuning them and painting them.

if the pack is only ALMS it would alienate a lot of the users.

It's just a name, if they stick to the truth every pack will be called: Mixed bag 1, Mixed bag 2 etc lol.

Agreed. Their model of grip for their "slicks" is not grippy enough at all, the throttle over steer is over-exagerated.

I understand that. I was just responding to what hellaflushandsomenumbers said about people expecting race cars in the ALMS pack. I really do think they should have named the pack something else, or included an ALMS track instead of some cars (albeit some very awesome ones) that have never competed in ALMS. Not that it really matters. Awesome DLC is awesome DLC.

You realize Group C cars were limited in the amount of fuel they had for the race, right? It was basically a big economy run.

The real "group B" of sports cars was the IMSA GTP series.

btw, best video out there

Ah, glad you're above me... seems I've been making a fool of myself the entire time about the whole 787B/R26B thing - it wasn't banned at all. So many places on the net I've used on the net to read up on the 787B (I wasn't really watching racing during that period) have told me the complete opposite of what actually occurred, confusing my understanding in the process.

So, apologies for that.

Whatever that is at 2:55 ain't a car. That's the sound of an alien invasion. WTH!!! Especially when it's driving away from the camera. I was waiting for people to start evaporating. And you can DISTINCTLY hear it even in a group of cars.

PS: Everybody standing on that side of that road is deaf now.

True, but the GTP racecars were indeed very similar to the FIA Group C race cars. The major difference obviously being there was no emphasis on fuel consumption 👍

The car at 2:55 is a Porsche 962 I believe.

From 1991 onwards, both the addition of the chicanes on the Mulsanne, and the switch to the 3.5 liter formula (essentially F1 engines) led to the demise of the streamlined, low downforce, big engined C cars, in favor of the high downforce, big wing, naturally aspirated C1 cars.

Basically it went from this:
Mazda_787B_2.jpg

Notice the small single element rear wing and streamlining. Some C cars, like the XJR-9 even had spats on the rear wheels for streamlining

To this:
s1_1.jpg

Notice the larger rear wing and higher downforce body work. Mazda was forced to use a Jaguar chassis and Judd engine for 1992 because the 787b was basically useless by then. The chassis wouldn't have been competitive and the engine was no longer eligible.

That Challenger is kind of a waste of space, I mean there is already the 09 Challenger but those rims... :yuck:

But apart from that I am looking forward to the Holden, the Polo, the Bentley and (most importantly) the Alfa 155!

next car pack should have the chrysler me 4 12, the ruf yellowbird, caddilac cien and sixteen concepts, the peel p50, the original fiat 500 and original mini and beetal plus the volkswagon nardo concept

Can't believe there wasn't a thread yet.
1991 Mazda #55 Team Mazdaspeed 787B
2011 #2 Audi Sport North America R18 TDI
2011 Bentley Platinum Motorsports Continental GT
2010 Dodge Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Challenger SRT8
1986 #2 Audi Sport quattro S1
2011 Panoz #050 Panoz Racing Abruzzi
1992 Alfa Romeo 155 Q4
1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R
2011 Holden HSV GTS
2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI

I mean, look at these! 787B, Quattro S1... Need a new pair of shorts, and quick!

Good list if cars there

The real "group B" of sports cars was the IMSA GTP series.

The real group B of sports cars were the group B sports cars, its a pity the death of Group B rally cars also ended the sports car side of it.

The classification was always to cover both track and rally cars, with most famous 'never was' group B sports car being this:

The Porsche 961 ((959 variant) was another Group B sports car.
