I think it's Fuji.

Yeah it's like comparing game with reality. GT5's just stunning.

edit: Coiler was faster.

CGI and CGI using ingame assets is not the same thing.

Based on the gameplay sections of those two trailers, where the cars are actually racing on a track, both models look pretty much identical.

The only differences are in lighting - GT 5's is better.

GT 5's lights ( as in tail lights ) are also probably superior. But Forza 3's tires and rims will probably look better.

And if we are taking into consider the models as a whole, the Forza model has damage modeling while the 458 in GT 5 probably won't.

I've very interested to hear the specific details about GT 5's damage modeling at TGS. Also if there will be a livery editor.

.....2 more days.

Right, but you're mixing yourself with the term "identical." You say it looks identical but the lighting is GT5 is better. Wouldn't that practically mean one looks better than the other? We already know Turn 10 amped up their polygons big time, which is probably why they are now able to be compared with some of GT5's cars. But without proper lighting, it would just look more cartoony than it should be. And don't make me start on the quality of the interiors.

The only identical thing we can say about the cars (exterior!) is the number of polys. They both look smooth and well done.

As for the damage modeling, I don't see how that can fit in the discussion in terms of visuals on lightings and textures.

And I may have to disagree with you on the wheels and tires in Forza looking better. If it is then good, but that's not what I'm seeing in this video, but it may be just me.

Sorry if I missed a post about this but @ :27 [in the GT video] there is a road in the middle of what appears to be a desert, any ideas as to that might be?

Also with forza thers a tendency to not be totally faithful in the dimensions, giving them a warped look. The reflections are poor too, which is important if you want to see the lines of a car.

JM: maybe Infineon? or Laguna.

@kohanson

Not very fair your comparison, get TWO INGAME shot, not the 2 screens that suit your partisanship the most... you took the front end UI car from GT (where the car is at its most beauty/polygons/reflections/details and an ingame shot from Forza.

If you want to be fair, take also a selection screen of the 458 (unfortunately not in the Forza video) in Forza3 which shows also great polygons/reflections and details :sly:

:grumpy:I wonder why people take such radical party comparing something so shallow as a video game. It's a video game for ***** sake!

What's the point discussing if GT5 has better lightining or if FM3 has damage, like religious fanatics! The aim is to have fun and enjoying whatever game you play!

Sounds like kids discussing who's got the bigger 'wheenie'

Why complain? If you dont want to discuss it dont do it.
From a graphics nut point of view, its just pretty astonishing what PD achieved so far.

You live in the same town as me! Well, almost, I'm in Hedge End... 👍

Nice to finally meet someone from soton :D.

I can't believe T10 are adding the car as DLC why not put it in game. Of course if GT5 gets any cars from DLC, which I hope it will, I'll eat my words.

You are comparing a pic taken from an HD vid to a pic taken from a low res blurry vid.

Also one of those cars is actually on a track truly from gameplay and the other is ....not.

Not exactly the most fair comparison you could have made. Although I'm sure that was the point.:sly:

If you are going to use that GT 5 trailer pic then I suggest you use this trailer Forza 3 pic.

I'm not complaining! I'm stating a fact how such ridiculous subject can cause such a controverse between 2 civilized people!

Neither I'm addressing if the graphics are astonishing or not. I'm my judgement they are, and I'd like best the ones from GT5. If someone's thinks the otherway around, that's fair enough! It's called AN OPINION!

Right.

It may not matter for us, but it may matter for the repuatation of PD and Turn 10. If PD didn't care and just let Forza surpass them (or vice versa), then that's that to them and possibly losing the support of many fans and then the sales. The media have hyped up the heated rivalry between the two to the max, so it's no brainer many are getting involved in such discussion.

And yup, Coiler, it's how the world goes 'round. The truth in this world are jumbled up by people's many different interpretation on things.

Well now all im hearing about GT5 version is that it's CGI... Why do forza fans always take the it's CGI route. it happened for the E3 GT5 trailer and now it's happening again.

Nobody is accusing the vids of being CGI. It's CGI using ingame assets. HUGE difference.

And it wasn't only the GT 5 vid from E3 that did that. One of the Forza vids was exactly the same thing.

So any Forza fan running around claiming "buh buh it was all CGI" is misinformed and a hypocrite.

It's a computer game, ergo it is CGI, they want miniature real life cars? Go buy Scaletrix.

Also one of those cars is actually on a track truly from gameplay and the other is....not.

Which one isn't gameplay?

Also, how beautiful does that Ferrari look?

seroiusly ..i cant wait to see at least one drop of rain falling on a car ...

That would be an amazing GT5 trailer for TGS, when they show a car hood very close... and then... blub... a rain drop falls down on the hood... 👍

im pretty sure the gt video is ingame or whatever you call it...I remember watching over and over the replays in london track with ferrari and other cars after i race..it looks so epic like this(reflections and such)
