^ That's pretty similar to the impression I came away with after watching the film. I didn't/don't know enough about the other drivers in the film or that era of F1 to comment on the rest of it, but I certainly came away thinking we was a huge risk taker, borderline wreckless, who put blind faith above all else. Certainly a big talent with large attachments though, and regardless of who he was his legacy has saved the lives of countless drivers/workers/fans. 👍 I still don't know enough him, the era, or the other drivers to form any kind of real opinion about him.

I have the same impressions as Brandon and Chase, Senna's sheer piloting skills blow me away (his hands, by gods -- so fast!) but his racing ethics were downright questionable (and sometimes downright dirty). Between him and Schumacher, a lot of younger racers got a lot of bad lessons about on-track behaviour. Too much 'either get out of my way or we both crash' kind of nonsense. A lot of the crap I see in GP2, GP3, WSbR and even F1 itself I tend to blame on the Senna/Schumacher influence.

About the 97T,. Hope it sounds decent, though tbh I'm not a huge fan of the actual onboard sound. From the outside it sounds amazing, but the few onboards I can find on youtube sound kinda... well, not bad, but it doesn't inspire me. But I prefer deeper, rumbly NA V8s, not raspy turbo sixes.

Even then I'm not at all convinced he was any faster than Piquet, Mansell or Prost. They were all superb, I really have yet to see any evidence he was better those guys. Well, for what I would class as 'better'.

Mm yeah, good point. From what I've seen, it looked like he had more of an ability to control a car on the knife edge of adhesion, but in equal and not-crappy cars, those four were pretty darn close. Personally I rate Prost a lot higher as an all-round driver. However, I must say that my impressions are based on only a couple dozen races of the era seen much later, as I wasn't even aware of F1 until shortly before '94 and didn't start following truly closely until 2002.

I took the 512 for a cursory 10 laps around Indy road tonight. I've decided to take this race on SH tires, because for my personal style of driving I find the 512 to be a bit too soft and wallowy to utilise the SM's well, and I'm not a big fan of that - furthermore I think I'll get a little more pace at the end of the race with tyres in better health.

That being said I'd like to hear what times people are getting with the SM's, I clocked a 43.9 in my 10 lap session and there's room for a lot of improvement - I'd just like to know how much practice I'm going to need before Tuesday .

I just did 3 practice laps on indy and my best was 1:42.289 on sm tires , theres lot of room for improvements but I switch to brands hatch now because its more than a week time for indy

I clocked a 43.9 in my 10 lap session...

Was this on or offline?

I shall have some free time tonight to turn a few laps, so will be looking to see how much I can beat this by... :D (he says over optimistically!!)

online, no need to be optimistic either :P.

Ok, good news :D, bad news :guilty:

The bad is I only managed a 1:45.5 on the SH's (my first 10 laps in this car/track online) so looks like they will be left in the back of the paddock come race day!

The Good... after running 5 laps with no hud (so no distractions!) I got a 1:42.8 on the SM's, so quite pleased with that. There will no doubt be some time shaved off as the laps increase, but that will have to wait now until after Saturday.

My gut feeling (guessing) is, i think that maybe a 1:40.xxx is possible :boggled: . I can see a number of places where I am struggling to get the power down, and hence probably losing a good second and a half over the lap.

Edit: Also Just noticed that I have yet to do the oil change, so another 17 horses are yet to be added! 👍

^That's encouraging news! Maybe I have a chance of getting my name on the Tuesday Wall of Champions after all. :P

I'm going to try to be on for some practice in about an hour or a little more, everyone is welcome to join. I'd like to give the 512 a go around Indy with a crowd so we can test the tires. And it is Friday so bring your own .

Unfortunately, I'm too tired to practice. I finished my term paper at 11pm and I didn't fall asleep until 12. Then I had to get up at six and as a teenager 6 hours is definetely not enough sleep for me to race well. I practiced with kling for awhile but I couldn't get much better than a 1:38.5 consistently. I will try again tomorrow during practice in tomorrow's lobby.

I managed a 1:41.5xx but after a quick 4 lapper race with @amarynceos, I realized that I was 354bhp so I changed the oil, back to the room and managed a 1:40.5xx. Hope that'll be enough for the next week.

My best after about a dozen laps was a :42.2. I could maybe get into the :41's if I can string a good lap together but I have to wrestle it quite a bit usually and end up drifting a lot. :40's are out of the question.

What type of controller do you guys use? Wheel (T500RS, G27, DFGT etc.) or controller?
