I managed to get into the low 1:36's last night after a bit of midnight motoring, but doubt I will be on the grid for tomorrow night.
I could defo do with some more practise though, pretty sure I can easily get 1/2 a second off my time, but I keep messing up when on a good lap.

I think some sleep is needed in order to improve!

Is it allowed to change oil? Just curious, because I`m a little unsure.

Sorry, I wouldn't have thought to put that in the OP because if you don't do an oil change you'll be down on power to the rest of the group. Yes, oil change is allowed (and necessary). I've added this to the Room Restrictions in the third post. 👍

Sorry for not reading the OP properly (again :banghead:)

@BrandonW77 - What will the time of day/weather be set to at Brands Hatch? VBR's top tip: I've noticed that if it's set to 50% weather at start with no weather change, then you get less shadows & therefore less flickering. It makes the graphics look that much better. Plus it's more realistic as it's mostly overcast here in the UK (I live close to Brands Hatch).

I usually do the first race in the early hours and the second race in the later hours. I didn't plan on adding rain to the races since these cars can already be a bit of a handful in the dry. If I set weather to 50% does that mean it's likely to rain during the race, or just be overcast?

Just a reminder to everyone signed up for Tuesday racing that we'll be taking the '71 365 GTB4 Daytona to Brands Hatch GP this evening on SH tires. The room will be up around 7pm EDT and qualifying for the first race will begin at 7:30. If anyone has driven on SM tires please let me know what your times are so I can determine if we will be using the tire rule for this race. If I don't get any feedback I'll have to limit the room to SH since I don't want any unknown variables during the race.

Like this post if you will be attending this evening. 👍

Brandon I decided that Saturday would be a better day for me. Can you take me off the Tuesday list and add me to the Saturday list please?

Well offline I was able to get 1:37.2 but online I was getting 1:38's with SH. I can stay on SH for the First race then maybe SM for the second? Or reverse? But if you want to keep it all SH, its fine by me.

And do you think we may need to stop for GAS? Usually 16 laps is about a tank full set on fast. (usually) The second race is 18 laps. ??

@BrandonW77 -
Can you add me to your list of Tuesday night drivers as well?

I should have time to run in about half the races, so if you don't mind a part-timer, I would like to join.

Expect to see me at Brands Hatch once I give my Ferrari a wash.:D

Thanks,
GTsail

1:38's is only 2 seconds off what I expect to be "the pace" so you'll probably be ok on SH. I don't think putting SM on for the second race would be good because with the reverse grid (if I remember to set it this time) you would probably be up front on better tires. Any chance you could be on a bit early so we can do some test laps?

On the second point, I've turned fuel/tire wear down to Normal for future races so it shouldn't be an issue. 👍

Excellent, look forward to racing with you this evening. 👍

I like the idea of different races being held at different times of day. It's something I've wanted in Gran Turismo since they first introduced time transitions. Practice at 11am, qually at 1pm, & race at 3pm (for instance). PD certainly don't have a clue when it comes to getting the most out of what they've got.

If you set the weather to 50% at start of race, & then set weather changeability to 0 it will not rain. If you set weather changeablility to anything other than 0 it could start raining at any point, & usually does. See you Saturday! :D

I may be a few minutes late, which means getting in a few practice laps will be a no go. Been lacking in time with practice and all, which is part of my problem. :guilty:

The room is open for practice. Qualifying for the first race will start at 7:30pm EDT, the second race should start a little after 8pm EDT.

Really great racing tonight fellas, at least what I saw of it. I got a real kick out of seeing these classic Ferrari's race around this classic circuit, under the clouds and into the setting sun. I'm quite chuffed with how things are going so far, to all. Congrats to @MC-Chase on another sweep.

Great racing, good fun. Kicking myself for my double offs in the last race :dunce: ; might have had a double podium without that. :ouch:

At least now I have replays to study and find out what I was doing wrong; I suspect my braking was an issue, because everybody else seemed to be going waaay deeper into every brake zone than I felt comfortable doing.

I'll be interested to hear your analysis. I have no idea if I go deep on the brakes or even if I'm taking the best lines, I just focus on getting a good exit speed and and staying out of the sand.

If anyone wants to see me s:censored:t myself watch my penultimate turn on lap 10.

I'll probably study the replays in a day or two. Right now all I have to go off of really is a practice lap of Chase's I watched from the lobby; not only was he braking later for almost every corner, he was braking less. Proper modulation seems to be important for this car; I was working on being easier on the pedal during the races, and it was yielding deeper entries and a more settled car mid-corner, but unless I was totally focussed on it, my left foot defaulted to its standard unrefined leaden approach.

I too was most concerned with my exit speeds, which is why I was braking pretty early and rolling through mid-corner with just a little maintenance throttle. There were many times in the race where the person behind just about went up my gearbox on entry but fell behind on exit. :D
