First pic on your drive... check out the background :sly:

Sadly, there's no beer in there. I've checked, many times. But seriously, every other house on this road is nice........except for the one right across from me with plywood over the front and a broken down Dale Jr. party van in the drive.

Small crowd today (damn you World Cup) but we still got some racing done. Someone came to my door During the second race and the dog start barking so I had to bail. Congrats to @kHamcio on the sweep.

I had a very weird incident in the first race. I was typing (using DS3 controller) something after the race counter had started. I just meant to type "mind the tyres" or something like that. The counter was almost done so I decided to cancel typing and focus on the start. When the lights appeared, the following had happened:

1. The car was in cockpit view instead of the normal view I had before
2. The HUD was disabled (or maybe in the confusion I thought it was...)
3. When I pressed the brake down for first few seconds the throttle went on instead, it quickly recovered, though
4. My car was in reverse, which I did not realise because the HUD was disabled :boggled:

So, I rammed B again now from the front

My best guess is that the game read my button presses when I was typing while the counter was on. No idea how it hid the hud because as far as I know there is no button for that...

I know better from now not to try to type anything during and after the practice laps :ouch:

The race was lots of fun! Had a few passes in the first race that I think were clean. Will check the replay today 👍

In the second race I almost got the rare opportunity to pass kHamcio but he quickly recovered. He is just faster than me even out of the normal driving line

Apparently there isa bug that resets the view to interior, the same thing happened to me (although I didn't notice straight away :dunce:) and I spun off fumbling for the controller on the floor, I have no buttons on my wheel. :banghead:

The loss of display is because you were in your chat box as the race started, or very close to the start. If you are within the last 10 secs when the timer is red, I don't think it posts your comments anyway! Could be wrong there though.

So you could look at that as a neat trick to automatically turn off your hud, and reset to cockpit view :sly:

I personally prefer to have no display, but you lose the benefit of the position indicators to help know when someone is along side you.
And the odd time check obviously.

Someone suggested the display be toggled to a button map, which would be good 👍

I've had that happen to me before @Cu3e. To regain the HUD, all you have to do is hit the start button twice during the start sequence and then you should have regained your HUD.

Just a heads up that I may not make it tonight, had a 5:30am start and work have shipped me miles away for the day, so when I eventually get back I doubt having a 2am late night will be all that appealing :scared:.

Don't know if I'm going to make it today, just picked up Grid Autosport and I may be busy renewing my hatred of Ravenwest.

Did do some practice laps yesterday with the 599. Didn't like the new feeling after the update at first, but after a while I warmed up to it. Seems like now you can use throttle blips mid-corner to kick the back end a little bit, whereas in my previous pre-update run all that did was induce understeer. 👍 Haven't done enough running to really say for sure what the new changes are doing, though.

I know not what that first part means.

I've had similar feelings with the new "update physics". I find it's easier to use the throttle to kick the back end out a bit, and then a bit easier to reel it back in (two things I found overly difficult previously). To me, based on real world experience, it now feels pretty much like it should. Even the RUF CTR felt better. It still really likes to hang the back end out, but it doesn't result in instant death as in the past. Holding on to a massive high-speed drift through Copse Corner put a huge smile on my face! 👍

Ravenwest was the top AI team in the first GRID game -- obnoxiously, irritatingly, maddeningly fast, nearly unbeatable (for me) on the higher difficulty levels. Them showing up in a race was pretty much always an "oh 🤬" moment, and fighting with them led to many rage-restarts and even rage-quits.

(edit: tree'd)

Anyway, think I'll try and make the race, after all Tuesdays are relatively alien-free compared to Saturdays.

I only played GRID a little bit, I didn't care for its physics at all. The rest of the game was great and I wish Gran Turismo was something more like it, but without good physics non of that matters. Grid 1 felt better than Grid 2, but then Ivan Stewart's Off-Road had better physics than Grid 2.

I won't be having anything to do with anymore CodeMasters games unless I get a PC and can get proper mods for it.

Grid's predecessor, Toca Race Driver, now that's a different story. I played the Toca out of that game. 👍

FYI a system update is necessary. As soon as it's done I'll have the room up. Qualifying for the first race starts at 7:30pm EDT.

Edit: room up

Yeah, I loved Toca as well. Still waiting for them to remake that with better physics and modern graphics... probably be waiting forever, hah. Many, many fun hours spent with Toca 3.

Grid Autosport you say?
How is it?
Any point in getting it or is it another grid 2?

Only done a few races so far, but it's rather better than Grid 1 in the handling department. Never touched Grid 2, heard too many horror stories!

The handling is still a bit floaty, but at least the cars are easy to put where you want them. In Grid 1, I always struggled to keep it in line, and making the apex was always more luck than anything else. :P In Autosport I can actually place myself precisely and rattle off lap after lap within half a second or so.
I've only driven the open wheelers so far, and they were immensely satisfying. Spent 2 twelve lap races as the meat in a Ravenwest sandwich -- haven't had so much fun losing by half a second in ages.

The reintroduction of practice and qualifiying is a welcome thing. And as usual the sounds and ambience are top notch. 👍 (Graphics are better than Grid 1, but nothing like GT or Forza.) There's setup options as well, unlike Grid 1. 👍 Not much at first, but more levels of adjustment as you progress.

I recommend Grid Autosport based on my few hours of play so far. The F3 cars are great fun, and I expect the other disciplines should be as well. Sooooo nice to have properly challenging AI.

I've been craving competitive ai. Gts ai is a joke. The only way I can have a good race with some of the ai is if they're using a much faster car than me. I'm really interested in project cars as well. That is when I get a ps4

Too many mistakes on my part really cost me. :scared: Had plenty of fun, nonetheless. 👍

PCars on PC for me -- we'll have a triple monitor rig well before then, and I don't think PS4 will support triples. 👎

In the meantime, competitive AI is thin on the ground as far as I know. There must be others, I would think, but Codemaster's games are the only current console racing games I know of with AI that can be challenging.

Would you guys prefer to take the Enzo to Big Willow or the new A1 Ring? The Enzo can be a handful which is why I picked the tame Big Willow for it, but I think it could be ok at A1 Ring too, though I've not driven it there yet.

Leaving aside the fact that I hate Big Willow, I think it would be nice to run on the new track so my vote would go to the Red Bull Ring.

I don't care for Big Willow much either but we had just about run out of good tracks and it happened to be a good fit for the unruly Enzo. I'll try to have a go with it at the new Ring and see how it feels. If anyone has a chance to test it out there, let me know your opinions (I won't get to test it until tomorrow).

The Ring is a fairly straightforward fast circuit that doesn't have the fiddly technical sections and bumpy undulations that Big Willow does so it should be a better fit for the unruly Enzo. I'll try it out later.
