Why would you have anyone but the fastest guys test the cars? It's the slower guys that skew the results.

I think you need a mix of testing data from fast guys ofcourse but slower guys as well , you will see which cars are naturally easier to get the better times from.

After about 30 Laps my fastest lap at Silverstone was a 02:04.7xx in my BRZ. My very first timed lap with the RX7 was 02:03.8xx. Both were clean laps. I'm pretty confident I can shave some tenths off the RX7 time with a few more laps in. The RX7 is lighter so it's better on tires. It has better weight distribution, so it's better on tires again... AND it performs better after the tires start to wear. I spent well over an hour running the BRZ to get that lap, I spent 5 minutes in the RX7. Those are my results. I welcome all of you to try the same experiment.

Give the Lexus a try as well if you can please , curious to hear all 3

Waiting on you to accept my friend request too couldnt find your lounge again

I did a small test at Tsukuba

rx7 54 5xx
brz 54 5xx
lexus 54 3xx on first lap

i am very comfortable with the lexus from last season

the brz is tricky to get on the throttle but its a lovely drive , out of the 3 it is the one that requires a drivers touch more than the others so i guess you could say it is the hardest to drive of the 3

Harsk I'm baffled by your general confusion at all times. No you cannot switch cars or we would all be in the same one currently.

I will glady in a bit skeng, gotta grind the Redbull events again as I'm broke after purchasing the Mazda.

What do you mean? If we would change? It would turn out a mess and we would be DISQUALIFFIED, right?

The rules state that you cannot switch cars. That means. You cannot switch cars. In other words, you have to keep your car. And, the car you drove at Fuji, is the car you will drive for the remainder of the series, according to the rules.

Welcome to the world of the biggest plant pot on GTP.

Have you tried the same test on smaller tracks without massive straights?

Try apricot hill and see what results they bring.

Friend request accepted skeng. I closed the lobby after you left to grind/buy the RX7.

I will do just that.
I think the RX7 will still be faster as it rotates better and as skeng said, it's easier to drive. Essentially meaning you can get on the throttle sooner. I'll post my results as soon as I can.

10 Laps with each car. The RX7 was a half second faster at Apricot Hill.

What were your times in the cars?

I appreciate I'm not running in this series, but as a co-founder of the FGTA I've been paying attention to the thread. I've just done some testing with the RX7 + BRZ at Silverstone, 10 laps in each car. Also, wasn't sure which BHP setting from OP was correct so ran both.

RX7

295 bhp : 2'04.9
300 bhp : 2'03.8

BRZ

315 bhp : 2'05.0
320 bhp : 2'04.0

Judging by rosckolove's times at Silverstone, I'm guessing the higher BHP value. Now about to head to Apricot Hill.

Are you running with tire wear off and we use the bhp. 5 hp doesn't equal 1 second of time loss either.

Tyre wear on, and apparently it does because that's all I changed.

EDIT

I misread the second power value, my brain put a B before the HP... Its been a long day!

PLEASE READ THIS POST
The RX-7 issue is not meant to be an ego battle between me and Skeng or anyone else for that matter. It is simply about car regs. Also I'm not saying that when the regs were made that the creators favored the RX-7, that would be foolish to think that. When the regs were created they were probably dead even with the people who made them. The problem is if they didn't get the most out of every car then that means a fast person can come along and get more out of that car which then makes the regs unequal. I'm also not saying the reg creators are slow, but we have to understand there is always someone faster. I do apologize if I seemed a little pushy with the issue. I should have my data posted tonight for all too see. I know people will try to reproduce the same data and more than likely you won't be able to. (Sorry just being honest) So you guys will have to just trust me.

On a side note @SkengD at Fuji I didn't have any instrument display so pit strategy was a little off.

01:20.4xx BRZ
01:19.9xx RX7

These were the results I got earlier in pre season, as you can see it's all pretty close.

Done a spot of testing at Apricot Hill -

Last seasons fastest lap 1.20.070 from the RX7

I got some decent times earlier -

RX7 - 1.19.965

BRZ - 1.20.248

Impreza 1.20.132

Lexus - 1.20.249

Altezza - 1.20.502

Gara - x.xx.xxx I was up on the rx7's time in the first 2 sectors on all the laps I tried bit spun near the end, imo this car is the fastest if you can control it.

I used the lower Hp values, the ones we race with. 295hp/RX7 315hp/BRZ. The BRZ is significantly slower than the RX7. Include tire wear in to that and the problem gets worse. I raced Karsten earlier and I would get the run on him out of a corner (side by side) and couldn't make the pass stick because the BRZ has nothing on the straights. That's gonna promote more aggressive tactics in order to overtake. It's very unfortunate that we can only regulate HP by increments of ten. I haven't tested it with ten extra HP so maybe it would be to fast then, I don't know. You could probably regulate a smaller HP gain with a PP check, since tuning is prohibited. Also, if anyone wants to run practice races tonight I'll be on. I hate running laps by myself.

So did I and your slower than me in the BRZ and even in the rx7, what does this say? People get different times out of different cars.
It says I didn't spend enough time at apricot. It says the RX7 is faster. Like we have been saying :dunce:

The gara is faster for me, just not consistent. Should we try and nurf this too?

I'm also .170 slower in the impreza, which is .300 faster than you in the BRZ, so we nurf this to your speed too? You can't get every car running identical laps on every track.

I'd appreciate you not insinuating I'm stupid with your dunces cap, its like name calling and childish. Also against the rules, just so your aware.

I can't use the smileys that are provided? You say stupid things. I use the smileys accordingly. Compare my Silverstone times there isn't much effort in the apricot Hill ones, oh great one :)

Apricot hill is an awful test track. Slow cars are just a fast as fast cars at that track because you can only go x mph through every turn. There isn't any turns to make up time.

I give up with you guys always wanting things exactly your way all the time. Im done with talking to you 2 again.

Not one disagreement last season but as soon as you join the thread hasn't stopped.

If these regs get changed, I'm giving up seat.

Have you ever approached anything in life with an open mindset or are you the guy everyone calls negative Nancy? I mean honestly your always the first person to shoot down people's opinions because you think everything is perfect in the world and nothing should be questioned. I'm probably half your age and that's the sad part, maybe you should grow up.
