Alright, so it sucked that a lot of you guys got disconnected, and I think we definitely should talk about a procedure for restarting and getting people back in. The FGTA does have a system for this, in which a disconnected driver PMs me with the message 'RED FLAG' in the message title. We would then stop, take the running order, and the restart with the amount to laps remaining.
The problem is that now we are running on time, and I do not have the ability to start the race from the exact minute that we stopped at is. This really becomes a problem where there is a major gap between 60 and 90 minutes in the game setting, I cannot select any times in between. I would hate to either lose a giant chunk of time, or have a total restart if we're a good distance in.
There will also be some sort of 85% rule, or something like that, where if we pass a certain amount of time, we will not restart the race. But if you DC here, you will receive last place points in your class for that race, and not 1 point.
Other than that, I think everything else was good. The different strategies will make these races interesting. It'll work, we just need more drivers in here and it'll be ever better!

Try this...
If we run 90 minutes we divide the race into 3 segments .Should a driver DC at any time
he advises you and returns to lobby. You announce DC Checker at end of current Segment thus allowing all to change strategy as they will start next segment (s) with full tanks and fresh tires. You stop the race...red flag at the end of that Segment. Restart is for the remaining segments. Points are awarded to all for segments finished ( creating incentive to lead) and DCd drivers receive last place in class points for the segments at point of Red Flag. Restart is rolling start...if not then normal start. You start segment as 30 or 60 minute race with grid set by previous position.
We Should award position points for segments and overall for last segment as normal procedure thus the DC screws up nothing. All DCer(s) lose is points lost for current position when he is DCd as he still gets last position for segment(s) when he DCd.
Works administratively allows strategy somewhat. Honors track position, and allows points not to be lost.
Alternative is to tell driver tough cookies and award him last place in class. Would make me crabby ....while some variant of the above works both for points and admin..but most importantly the driver GETS TO RACE. The hell with the points anyway...its all about the racing.

I have to agree with Nail over it being all about racing. The segment thing would not be any tougher then other DC rules in effect in other leagues. I do not like the 85% rule though. I feel it can be used in strategic situations like what we had at the end of last season.

Another subject...AWESOME RACE.....all take one attaboy....man were Ares and Joe having a real barn burner....and Flip and Dr. Were going at it as well. Imagine if we were all there... Two classes did effect the race....made it less of a ho hum...pound around...I am faster than him...slower than them.....never saw a soul all race...might as well have been testing race (I had 7 of those last season). Janis Joplin wanted a Mercedes Benz...me I want a 'baru but which one. Again great one drivers... And thank you thank you computer God for DISCOing two fast guys so someone noticed that we have a problem...so we can address the Disco situation.

Well, the 85% rule would be there just so that if we go a certain distance into the race, we aren't going to restart. Like we wouldn't restart with 10 minutes in the race to go.
Just want to see if I see what you mean. We would plan to run the race for 90 minutes. However, if someone DCs at let's say 47 minutes in, the rest of the pack would race to the 60 minute mark. Then we would take the positions and then restart with 30 minutes to go.
