I have trouble getting the 3rd medal on some of those higher class races. The ones where you need a bunch of skill points and the win, I hardly bank any skill points because I lose them when I hit the sides of the track.

Part of the reason why I think the tracks should have been slightly wider and have higher bankings overall. Precision driving is key in so many parts of this network, but most of the time I just want to floor it. Can you blame me after months of learning the tight roads in the main game?

For me it's the ones that require a truckload of 'Great Speed' skills. Hit an A.I. or a wall, and the game hesitates to reward you with more Great Speeds for around 5 seconds. There's an S2 race that requires TWELVE of the dang skills, and it's a tight short sprint race. You cannot afford to mess up.

Better conditions are needed to fit the theme, but I've been playing with this...

I showed my son the mountain section last night and he loved it, I think that's my favorite part of the track in the expansion, it's just mind bending to race it. After that I completed about 4 more events I unlocked the Twin Mill, then I drove it all over the place. I love this car, I think it's my favorite of the new Hot Wheels cars so far. It just tears the track up and I haven't even tuned it yet, so much potential....

I got home late last night and decided to give the Hot Wheels a try before heading to bed. HOWEVER, when I booted it up, my 15-year old said he wanted to watch - which quickly became "can I drive?", followed by laughter, which in turn caught the attention of the 19-year old who came out to watch.

Bottom line - they had a blast with the 19-year old watching the 15-year old driving, jumping, looping, crashing, failing, laughing. It's just a load of light-hearted silly fun.

Maybe this weekend I'll finally have a chance to take it for a spin. Oh wait. It's mother's day...

Even though I'm still slowly working my way through the campaign, I found the novelty value of the expansion wore off really quickly and I've just been treating it as business as usual.

It makes me a bit sad because I loved playing with Hot Wheels as a kid and I love Horizon 3. I like the HW expansion and I admire PG/T10 for coming up with something so audacious, but I feel like I don't love this expansion as much as I should do.

It's nothing to do with the expansion itself, but my mindset towards it, because I'm constantly fighting against my inner cynic that's telling me this should not work in a game like this.

I feel like I've been conditioned to so much expectations of relative realism in racing games these days that I struggle let go of that mindset whenever something appears in an established franchise that is designed to be deliberately not realistic.

I get what you're saying. This Hot Wheels expansion is really messing with your suspension of disbelief. As more and more racing sims hit the market, each one trying to outdo the other with real-world handling accuracy, this one is going the other way with stunts and clearly impossible feats. That's why I'm glad we've got both Motorsports and Horizon. It's the best of both worlds in one convenient little console.

I let my 9yr old son drive back to the Festival to collect the Barn Find. He was driving the Bone Shaker.....it wasn't pretty, but he made it. At least you have Saturday to play, I doubt I will be playing games for the next 3 days starting tomorrow morning, I'm getting oral surgery to pull an impacted Permanent tooth down. They are installing a guide bracket with a chain to help pull it down. I kindly asked my wife to postpone Mother's day until next weekend because I'm probably going to be out of it, and she agreed. I feel bad about it but I will make it up to her.

@Populuxe Cowboy I'd move heaven and earth to own one. A belly tank and a salt flat in Forza would be amazing.
Hmm. I was thinking Los Angeles would be a great location for a new Horizon with city driving, beaches, mountains and the dry lakes in the east, but now I'm thinking Utah might be a great surprise location, for a lot of the same reasons. Rocky Mountains in the east, Salt Lake City for city streets, the Great Salt Lake for beaches, and the Bonneville Salt Flats in the west. You could add in some of the beautiful canyon country to the south and it could be an unexpected but completely enjoyable location.

If they ever went to the US again, and did Utah specifically, they better upgrade their offroading abilities so we can do the off-road trails near Moab.

I really wish there was a way to turn dynamic time off. This expansion looks amazing at dark with all the roads lit up.

I have also spent far to much time messing around at the Sky Track, it's fun seeing how high you can launch your car off the half-pipe section right after the double speed boosts.

I think that was what I was trying to say before.👍

Well, to my surprise, I had the expansion pass! I had no idea I bought it. So, I downloaded the Hot Wheels stuff late last night.

To be honest, I was skeptical about this pack at first and I never intended to purchase it since it's far outside the realm of what I look for in a racing game. I was very wrong. In fact, I think I am having more fun with this pack than I did with the main game or Blizzard Mountain. The map simply looks cool, firstly, but the banked turns and loops are more fun than I thought they would be as well.

Sure the pack is wild and I do still favor realism over that type of thing in my racers, but this is good fun for now.
