I have to say I'm enjoying this expansion much more than I expected. I already had an open mind, but it's really not as "childish" as one might think. Despite the emphasis on high speed, it still takes skill to drive here. You're not just going full throttle every second you're driving. While you are going to be pushing your car's limits most of the time, some races do require you to control it. You will also notice that some speed boosters only help you maintain your momentum, while more powerful ones will make you hit your car's top speed.

There's also a certain thrill here that you can't experience in the base game, and I love it. When going through banked loops and the other stunt sections, I almost feel like I'm on a water slide. Going back to Byron Bay to return to the "real" world is going to be quite jarring.

On a side note, got to love the people I've seen elsewhere who have already finished the campaign and then complain about there being nothing to do. The expansion hasn't even been available for 24 hours yet. What happened to taking the time to actually enjoy the game instead of being casual speed runners? I played for about 2 hours last night and I'm still on the A class events. I'm also going for 100% as well, so I imagine I'll be stuck on Hot Wheels island for quite a while.

This is nice. The Trailcat Is really good at climbing rocks as well!

You're summing up some of the reasons why I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. I wouldn't necessarily find the full throttle approach childish, but definitely more exciting than navigating the orange paths with the calculated mindset we're used to. It's not like I'm finding it bad, but the Hot Wheels theme kind of contains more self-indulgence than pure fun, in my opinion.

No doubt that the aerial paths and loops offer a new perspective, but I'm not feeling the thrills as much as I expected and hoped to. I think the main game has a much better sense of speed than Thrilltopia, and I believe the unstable framerate on the new map is part of the blame. Driving faster than 300 km/h just feels underwhelming as the sun-soaked plastic crawls by.

I'm not trying to crash the party or anything, but I hardly couldn't disagree more.

Started in a room with 7 people and 5 quit before the end of the first lap of the first race. Dude, if you fall off, chances are other people did/will too.

I played about 9 hours yesterday. Stayed up way too late. I managed to unlock and race the Hot Wheels Goliath run. Discovered all the roads. 3-starred several PR stunts. Did a few bucket lists. Found the barn find. I even created my own bucket list blueprint. Had a lot of fun. There's still a lot left for me to do.

Somehow, the Hot Wheels Mustang now has the 662hp V8 from the newer GT500 instead of the 500hp V8 from the older GT500 it had in FM6.

And the barnfind can have the Voodoo engine from the GT350R, for some reason.

I tried a little bit of it yesterday. It's fun, but it's a little odd having to treat some parts like a proper race track with braking and racing lines. The gravity-defying banking and loops are the most fun, IMO.

Perhaps as a sign of the intentions with this expansion, my girlfriend said she'd actually want to play it as she was watching from the couch. This is someone who's had zero interest in FH3 since it released. But add a pink Twin Mill and a bunch of crazy views via the orange track, and she's game.

I think I get it, now.

This expansion is just plain mad, it's crazy fun! I never thought I would see something like this in a Forza game (never knew I would want something like this either). Whoever the game planner is, the one that came up with this idea for Hot Wheels Expansion, that person deserves some sort of Medal because not only are they a genius, but they are Winning at life.

Mind = Blown.

Oh yeah and it really sucks to be at work today.

Indeed. I have even managed to mess up a jump because I carried just the right amount of speed to make my car slam into the side of a track crossing above the one I was driving on. At other times the boost pads will send me flying directly into a tight bend, often making the boost thing seem rather pointless from some directions.

Does the team really want players to experience such difficulties, or did they simply construct the entire ride without ever fully testing its flow and drivability? I'm not sure.

My word...the barn find is so customizable...
I have a(n admittedly minor) complaint about this.
Don't get me wrong, I love the car and I love how customizable it is. It's really the way they've made it customizable I have a problem with. You can't just go to custom upgrades>aero>individual body parts and add everything they offer. You can customize from stock or one of the two preset upgrades, but not all the parts can be mixed and matched. Have a look at this.

I was trying to make a very traditional hot rod. So what's wrong with it, you might ask? The rear tires are too wide. For the look I was going for, the tires front and rear should be stock width. For some reason they decided you can only have wide rear tires if you're making a hot rod. All the pieces are in the game, but they aren't all available from a single menu. You can't remove the fenders or sidemount spare tires if you're working from the stock car. Instead you have to choose the hot rod presets. But if you do, you are limited to wide tires at the rear of the car. I would much prefer it if you could just go to the aero mods and mix and match until you get what you want, especially since all the parts are available.

Got up to unlocking the S1 events and the barn find yesterday. You definitely have to learn the braking points again.
