On what platform will you play FH3?

So I just did a 5 lap race of the Goliath circuit... Some things I noticed along the way:

- the music starts repeating the same parts after the 2nd lap. When i switch to another channel and return, the music stops playing outright. Switching to the other channel the music starts playing again.
- some of the AI glitch into the ground.
- the drop where you enter the Twelve Apostles, a lot of the AI's cars are flipped upside down. A couple more were flipped towards the finish line
- the water at the Silver Lakes turned pitch black again after the 2nd lap
- a non-HE AI kept up with me the entire time (was driving a Viper HE). though it seemed he was always within a mile where I was once he passed me. He also seemingly had infinite grip when he was chasing behind.
- I could be wrong here, but I felt I lost some grip by the time I reached the last lap. Maybe it's just fatigue lol
- at one point I think the last few AI cars in the field all reset, because I found them in a single file line at around the 4th lap
- I think I lapped the 3rd position car, which is odd because on the 1st and 2nd laps he was right behind the 2nd position car, and by the 3rd position he was gone

I'll be honest, I had an undying fear that the game will freeze or crash lol.

For me the game was running pretty much perfectly and now since the update it has crashed twice within 10 minutes of each other :/

I had a 3-4 hr session that ended with the game just locking/freezing.
I ran my CPU and GPU with fans at max highest/lowest temps in this session were:

GPU 50 / 35
CPU 62 / 20 i7 @4.6

While it adds to the noise of course I don't really hear it as have the audio well cranked.

In general the game for me is running really well at fixed 60 in 1080p with all settings max
Still finding the unlocked refresh has the framerates dancing around too much.

My experience of the patch:
- Not had any crashes
- Stutter is much worse, it's now happening when racing through the center of Surfer's Paradise and also elsewhere
- Frame rates dropped compared to where they were before (I have been running high/4xMSAA/1080p on the GTX970 and seeing frame rates consistently above 60 except for brief dips to 55 in the most challenging zones, now I am getting low 40's at times and wondering whether I should try different settings)
- FFB is different. I put linearity back to 50% because it's no longer needed, reduced vibrations a little, switched "reverse forces" to OFF for the T300 (why did it default to that setting?!?) and it felt adequate but still too much vibration and not enough actual forces... still work to be done to find a good setting.

All in all not a step forward for me.

Yeah, the FFB feels more like the vibrations you feel through the controller just amplified. There isn't much feedback.

After the update the FFB feels a little better around center for me but I had to tweak a few things - Damper Scale, Spring Scale, and Steering Sensitivity. In addition, "Invert Force Feeback" was ON, which reverses FFB on a Thrustmaster TX. Stick with it, you may just need to play with the new settings. I don't think they ruined anything, and the new settings should help most once configured.

It's not the FFB it's the rotation which feels awful, the FFB isn't perfect but it's nothing to complain about. Before the update I had no issues steering but now slight turns are way to sensitive, before I would turn into a corner no problem now I do the exact same turn in which is about 45 degrees and the wheels turn in much more than before giving me understeer because it's way too sharp for the corner even though prior to the uodate it would be fine. In game there used to be rotation settings now theres no option which I feel would fix it. I've checked the Thrustmaster control panel and the rotation is set to 900 so I have no idea what's happening.

I did have the inverted FFB but I fixed that straight away.

The whole limited steering lock thing is a long term Forza issue. Blame controller focus from T10 :)

The normal way to get round this is to adjust steering linearity. 50% is linear, lowering it will make steering slower around center. The newly introduced steering sensitivity setting might do something too, not sure.

I see, I just find it strange how before the update everything was fine steering wise.

I've got my steering linearity to 50% and it still feels the same. I'll have to play around with more things see if I can get it somewhat back to normal or else I'll be constantly fish tailing down straights as if I'm on YouTube

I've had a lot more infinite saving loops since the patch. I had to kill the game three times in an hour period. Stuttering seems to have decreased a lot, but framerate is the same. I get constant 60fps anywhere, except for Surfer's Paradise and Forest races with rain at night, which I feel is dipping even lower.

Rear wheels still disappearing sometimes. A.I liveries are completely invisible until their car is right next to you. That did not happen before and I think it's the trick they've done to "improve" performance.

CPU usage is the same as always. 6600K @4.2, GTX970, 12gb DDR4. CPU is between 40 and 70%. GPU is at 60-70% because I have V-Sync on. Medium settings, MSAA x2.

I don't know what's wrong here. I am trying to download, but it's stuck on 29 Megs and not moving at all.

My thoughts exactly guys. The FFB and general feeling in the wheel was far from perfect before, but it was at least driveable and I could get some sort of feedback of what the car was actually doing, now it's all mostly down to guessing. It all feels a bit lazy now.. Pretty disappointed to be honest.

After a couple clean ups, it seems to be moving again. I sometimes wished I waited until I got an XOne...

Well, I hopped back onto the game today to see if I could mess around with the FFB. Kept trying, same thing. I've arrived to a conclusion: this is some of the worst force feedback I've seen in a while. They might as well not bother making the wheels compatible! FH3 as a game is awesome, but it's technical underside is definitely begging for improvements.

I added another SSD today so I decided to reinstall FH3 and APEX (had on a hard drive). My original installs went fine but I was a little worried to reinstall as I heard stories like yours but I was lucky I guess. Both installed without a hitch and MS servers were responsive as both downloaded at a steady 35-38 Mbps. You have to wonder the source of the d/l problem for some - ISP, MS, congestion on one or both, or ???
The performance of FH3 is more consistent on my XOne but I still prefer on the PC even with the un-optimized performance. When it's running good it sure beats 30 FPS, and the higher resolution of 3440x1440 doesn't hurt.

Is UWP still not supporting directinput? I'm guessing not. That's part of the reason it's bad I guess. :P

I'm thinking of just forgetting about re-installing Horizon. The download just keeps stopping and I tried everything.

EDIT:
I don't know how, or don't care how, but I finally downloaded Horizon completely.

The game is working like a charm today after fiddling with the settings. For the second time, the GeForce experience "optimized" my game without me knowing.

I don't know if (and I don't think that) locking 30fps will have any effect on the Autoshow, but I played for two hours today, bought, customized and modified lots of cars and I didn't have a single saving loop crash. Yesterday I couldn't play at all, because just messing around with my cars at the Autoshow gave me the dreaded saving loop.

There's a setting in GeForce Experience for optimizing all your games automatically. It was in a dialog when it installed and defaults to 'yes'. Problem is that this setting is nowhere to be found after installation, so no idea how to change it back.

Installed the latest Nvidia drivers (373.06) and the game runs a lot better than on 372.70 or 372.90 - on 372.70 I could at least play the game without it crashing every two minutes, but had constant stuttering issues where the framerate would drop by 20 or so every few seconds. 372.90 (the FH3 "game ready" drivers that, well, weren't) the game wouldn't even stay running for long enough to play, as mentioned.

On 372.70 I had all of 10fps difference between everything low/off and everything on ultra with 2x MSAA. Running high preset with 2x MSAA and 16x aniso on 373.06 and the experience is vastly improved, the game looks good and runs well enough.

Have a snap of my M4 HE as evidence :D

The saving loop isn't actually a crash. I found just clicking the mouse on the desktop of a second screen and back to the game window would immediately restart things.

Just checked after reinstall of Geforce Experience, the setting is there under Games -> Automatically optimize new games. Remove the checkmark and you should be good. 👍

For me ... this update has really ruined the game...
On the launch version i was playing with Ultra preset, using the FH3 optimized nVidia drivers at 1440p .. game was perfect.. never dropped ... was jaw dropping

Now... can't even play on 'high' without framerate going to 30's at times ... it lags and stutters like crazy now. Really terrible drop

I have Core i7-4790k w/ GTX1080 founders
They need to fix this

Hmm, think I'm gonna check out the patch.

Will report later on the new nvidia drivers

Stupid question how do we export photo images from the game to PC?
Do they save in a folder what gives?

You have to share it first in-game, then go to Forza Hub, select "My Photos" and download it. It will usually be downloaded to the "Pictures" folder on your User Profile.

I didn't know it at first too, but meddled with the forza hub app, and found out.

So I've installed the newest drivers... no difference. Guess I've expected that. I heard that disabling MSAA helps (and it does on occasion), but at 1440p I actually need MSAA to get rid of the jaggies.

Thanks hadnt the hub app downloaded

Cant say I notice any major differences with the new drivers but didnt go messing with settings
