On what platform will you play FH3?

Yeah plenty of racing games can pull 4K 60fps especially on a 1080 card.
Some may require textures to be dropped from ultra and perhaps shadows but with very little loss of quality.

@ShawnPhillips
Thanks for reply, I have an i7 6700k @4.6 so with the 1070 should get pretty sweet gaming, currently only have a 1080p Phillips Ambilight set anyways. Hoping for 4K next year and also to try and run 21:9 in window mode or custom resolution if possible. For a cockpit I think 34" 21:9 still a bit small.

Regards the 4K HDR some people may record via 4K camera. Youtube has a few people doing this already and while we cant see HDR on non HDR sets it still gives a nice impression.

btw, some TV models DO support HDR in Game mode (Samsung SUHD KS8000) and one of the recent Panasonic models also does (not sure model). MANY however do not and will have much response times closer to 100 or more rather than 20-40ms

I recently build a new pc with a gtx 1080 , my screen is 1080p 60hz , i want ultra settings with a stable 65 fps.

There are no cards wich can maintain 60fps on ultra settings on 4k.

I found this video showing APEX with 1070
Does not mention if overclocked and CPU is older i7 @ 4.3 GHz

Not sure regards how much the CPU is a factor with this or some of the other racing titles.
But this bodes well for Horizon 3

Yes , but forza is not the only game i play , i want all my games at ultra with 60fps , with a single 1080 at 4k that simply not possible. Thats why i stick with 1080p for a while.

CPU isnt factor when it comes to resolution, you really need hi-end CPU if you want 100+ fps or play some CPU heavy games like RTS, P.CARS or ARMA.

Oh dear, it must be hard having to put up with lowering some graphical options to maintain constant above 60fps in 4K :)
On a serious note you mention the reason why I wouldn't buy a 1080 costing much more over a 1070 and still not getting the job done in all scenarios. Same with it in VR but perhaps next year although at what price will such cost?

Some games show it is possible with good programming and optimisation with titles like this one and still be graphically superb.

GeForce GTX 960
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
3.4 GHz
16 GB RAM

My rig. Runs Apex with 30 FPS consistently using the "Dynamic Rendering" mode, but hoping to boost it up a bit in terms of FPS.. Is this enough to suffice for FH3?

A 1080 is overkill if your only running 1080P without going 120 or 144Hz. My GTX1070 handle everything fine at 1440P60fps.

Stated the game is meant to offer unlocked framerates and probably 30 or 60 locked. I expect similar performance to Apex really too.
The 1060 may be a good purchase (Sim/racing games seem to work better on Nvidia) and I see it easily doing 60fps in Horizon 3 maxed out at 1080p. If your however seeking to eventually go 4K in near future then really the 1070 is the best "value" currently for games like this that will manage constant 60 fps at 4K resolution.

Credit to how well their engine performs compared to some others and its crazy to think that Turn10/Polygon could have 4 racing games released on XB1 (assuming FM7 next year) before or around the time Polophony Digital produce one.

In FM6A Nvidia Maxwell and preMaxwell generation cards performs slightly worse, Pascal generation cards performs the same. The best performance/$ videocards here is GTX1070 and RX470 4Gb, all other is overpriced as hell. So, grab RX470 4Gb for 1080p or GTX1070 for 1440p, simple as that.

With regards to the news item posted today, is it possible to earn any of the cars in Forza Rewards if you haven't been playing older titles? I assume you just have to spend credits buying and unlocking them instead of having them gifted for free in your garage, am I right? I have not played Forza in the past whatsoever so I'm starting from zero lol.

Yes you are right. Though I think the reward cars might be pre-tuned a bit, but you will still be able to buy all the cars and the tuning options in game regardless of what reward tier you are

That's a relief, thanks! Doesn't really matter that it's pre tuned since we can also tune cars ourselves. As long as they are not exclusive cars I'm happy :P

One of my biggest concern with delving into the Forza family is how much effort you have to spend keeping up with all the extra and exclusive cars. Rewards, unicorns, special events, DLCs, etc...I just prefer that everyone has the same chance and all the cars are in the game from Day 1.

Well I gave in to temptation and preordered the Ultimate Edition for PC. It'll be my 4th Forza game, the first since Xbox 360.

I've been playing and enjoying Forza 6 Apex sufficiently to treat Horizon 3 as my next "not so serious" driving game. Weird having that on the PC not on console, but then again I played DiRT 2/3, GRiD 2/Autosport on PC so it shouldn't be a problem :)

So, only a few days remaining 'till the early access. Has anyone been able to Download the game yet or is it just me?

I mean... if we get to DL the game the day early access starts, it's kinda pointless to allow it in the first place >.>

Thanks for the tip. I went back and messed with some settings, on "high" settings with everything left in dynamic but with FPS "unlocked" I can get around 120 frames on average, much better than 30 that's for sure! :)

Yeah they need to hurry now with the preload.

Indeed, If there is no preload for PC then I would be lucky to finish downloading the game by the end of the month on my slow ass connection. Might just have to hail my heavy ass PC to a friends house with faster internet.

Preload aside, I'm a little miffed there's no PC demo. I want the game and I want it bad. But the only version I perceive as worthwhile is, indeed, the Ultimate Edition (due to the car pass) - but putting down a hundred bucks sight unseen feels a little much.

Reviews are supposed to be out on the 20th, or so I've heard. I just hope there's some info on how the FH3 does on the PC front :indiff:

I would love a PC demo too. Would like to try graphic settings and if the G27 will indeed work properly. I've read that Apex has no FF at all. I don't ask for sim physics, as long as I can at least feel understeer/oversteer as well as the road.

After I plunked down €99 for my PC preorder I sat back and pondered this too. For me the deciding factors were (1) Apex wheel support is good (2) press time with the game was on a PC running Horizon 3 at 60 FPS at 4K resolution. If they were confident enough to show it to the press at that resolution, then we should see performance in line with the relative performance of Apex on PC.

It's a risk, but it's a calculated one.

Holy **** 99euro for a game on windows ? Are you serious. That's crazy. Never paid something like that for ages.
It's cross-play, so prices are the same on the Xbox and Windows stores. You get the right to play on both platforms from the single purchase.

The normal game price is €60, but the ultimate edition gives the usual season pass and extras.

Over the last few years I've spent more on Raceroom, similar on AC + all DLC packs and pCARS + all DLC packs. It's nothing unusual for me at least.

The PC demo will come after the game releases, but no date is set in stone.
I can imagine a bunch of reasons that might lead some execs at MS to make that call (irrational fear of piracy, for one) - still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Aye, that's what's keeping my hopes up as well. The game ran on single 980ti's, from what I know - so not like it was utter Overkill in Terms of Hardware.

That's console gaming for ya. Because that's what FH3 primarily is: A console title with added Win10 compatibility.

Not used to those prices anymore myself, considering that I game on PC exclusively nowadays. And this is exactly why I always tell people PC gaming is cheaper in the long run

Even if it's cross-play and all, it's still really really pricy for a pc games that you can play only on windows 10 pc.

So if I find a cheap console version, it will unlock it on my pc if I use the same account on both shops ?

As long as you get the digital version, yeah. Haven't seen it pup on a key reseller's website, though - or a cheaper offer than what MS is offering themselves, for that matter.

Neither have I, but apparently MS isn't as stringent as Valve (e.g.) when it comes to buying keys from other regions. They (Microsoft) claim the games (and other applications bought in the same fashion) don't work, but people who've tried buying Rise of the Tomb Raider from other regions haven't had any issues.

EDIT: Bugger, should've done some research before posting. Said method does not seem to work anymore. 🤬

Apex has no FFB, where did you read that? Feels fine for me (TM TX), not as good as my other PC sims but OK for what it is.

Seems PC pre-loads will start sometime before launch, but no exact time or date yet.
