On what platform will you play FH3?

Finally the demo's here. Those who have the hardware but unsure due to the performance issue now have a chance to try it out.

Performance on my side has been well since the last patch, only one or two stutters happening.

The graphical setting seems to reset once in a few gaming session I played, probably caused by the Geforce Experience auto settings.

They also reset if you update your video driver. Which happens quite a lot since new drivers are dropping pretty much every week to coincide with game releases.

With interest of replacing Test Drive Unlimited 1/2, I played the FH3 PC demo late last night for 10 minutes.

My first impressions are not so hot. I dislike the Gymkhana / festival atmosphere that Dirt 2 sort of started. The game stuttered for me at 1080p on my GTX970 way too often, and most disappointing of all, the car handling is not even close to sim.

I thought TDU was not very sim but FH3 is even less so.

Such a shame to waste a game engine such as Forza series to this arcade-ness.

Why couldn't they simply have put the option to have quality sim handling and physics in FH3 for those that like sim?

I'll give the demo some more time tonight but unless I forgot to turn off some assist somewhere in the Options, this game is playing pretty bad IMO.

I tried the game and I got around 20-40 fps when I had the fps unlocked. I used the lowest preset with no shadows. the game stutters a lot (the music stutters too, like when a game freezes). It usually stutters when I crash into stuff fences or posts or whatever. I checked my CPU and GPU usage and both were less than 60%. Which is unusual I think; why wouldn't it use its full potential? I'm probably going to get the game when I upgrade my PC in the future.

Finally finished the demo. Royal PITA being forced to go through that whole 'intro movie to game play' section each time you run the demo.

The game gets much better once you get to drive a non-supercar. The magic glue tires go away and you are actually required to brake for most corners. The Aussy truck/car thing still heavily understeered but not nearly as bad as that intro Lambo.

Thanks for the quick reply,
This is great!!!!!!!! I was thinking about upgrading my PC to play P-cars,Asseto Corsa, and GTAV,
I will now add Forza system requirement's to my build list
One more question
What other Forza games can be played on PC?

To paraphrase JAWS
We're gonna need a bigger build

Right now it's just Horizon 3, although there's a tech demo of FM6 called Apex which is also free to play. Microsoft have announced that all future Xbox games will also be released on PC so Forza Motorsport 7 should be a lock.

Normal cars are the heart of this game and the ones I personally enjoy the most. The closest to stock, the better. Another awesome thing is buying an AWD Rally-inspired car, adding some dirt tires, rally suspension and wheels, and finally using it for what it's meant to be used. Same goes for SUV'S and off road vehicles; they finally have a use.

Hypercars are nice... just to look at. Using them constantly is boring and usually what kids do. (Beware of online...)

Downloading the demo now, I noticed the demo system requirements said 8gb of ram is required instead of the 12gb on the full game page so will be interesting to see how it runs on my 8gb system. The windows 10 store has to be the biggest POS i've ever used to buy/install games, can't even choose where I want the game installed

After the latest pack, there seems to be no stuttering at all!

Also, the Falcon is my favorite cruiser now :). I need to appreciate classic Australian muscle.

Is anyone playing this with a T300 wheel? I tried playing on the PC so I could play in my Obutto without swapping out the wheel. I find the wheel very loose and I could not find any settings that made this a fun experience. I have the T300 with the Ferrari 599XX Evo wheel attached. Thanks

The experience is very unremarkable with any wheel.

For me FH3 on PC has worse FFB now than at launch.

After the last patch, with unchanged T300 settings, the car on tarmac felt totally disconnected and there was a strange limited degrees of rotation (soft lock?) added of around 360. It was so bad that I didn't even bother trying off-road to see if that was still bearable.

In general, off-road FFB has always been better than tarmac in FH3, and I have tuned my settings for that. I removed all deadzones, overall FFB strength at 80%, vibrations at 10% (because of the horrible buzzing you get on tarmac if you set it higher). But right now I'd class the FFB since the last patch as "garbage" so not sure what would help.

When I next have time I intend to delete my T300 profile and start fresh, see what I can achieve. If not, then FH3 Ultimate Edition became an expensive mistake for me: I already paid for DLC packs 1-6, but I will be stuck with such garbage FFB that I don't want to even try the new content as it launches :(

When I'm going around a corner at speed I can sense the weight of the car more in FH3 or even FH1 than I did in TDU2. TDU2 had some memorable characters and a casino but I was more aware of the physics in Horizon than in the older game. Maybe it's a controller versus wheel thing?

How well does this run at or near minimum system requirements?
I will be using a cheap 19" TV as a monitor and only want graphics around the same quality as my PS3
I am on a very very tight budget, so l am looking for feedback from people who are playing this on older underpowered systems
please be as specific as possible Thanks

There have a demo for FH3 to try.

Yea, my current system is way way below minimum specs
So the demo version is no help, if l do build a new PC my budget is going to be strained to get much over minimum specs
So l either risk it, or give up, that's why l need feedback from those who are playing it at minimum specs,

I've been running the demo with 8gb ram, a GTX 970 and an i7 4790k, so my gpu and ram are at or just below the recommended. My total ram usage never goes above 7gb but this game does use all of my 4gb vram which is not ideal on a 970 which only has 3.5gb of the fastest vram and .5 of slower vram.

The game runs very well, stays at solid 60fps most of the time only dipping into the 50's in the dense city or suburban areas.
