Need to get back into playing this and doing missions/progress.
I got distracted with GOW4 and benchmarking my new GPU in various titles.
It really seems that pushing your GPU to its max performance/stability isnt really worth the bother.
Some questions for you guys overclocking and resolution or graphical settings...
Overclocking GPU
From my experience in various titles it varies from typically 2-8 frames per second and that with having a GTX 1070 holding 2088 Mhz with Ram 4353 and under 60 degrees.
Really seems I may as well alter resolution or lower some settings that increase the framerate to ensure I get the frames I want.
QHD+ Vs 4K?
For those of you playing 4K on such displays can you do me a favour and keep your max visual settings but set a custom resolution of 3200x1800 (16:9). I am curious how this visually compares and while it will certainly boost the framerate just how much worse it appears on a 4K display to 4K Native.
Adaptive Alternative?
Of course the game offers its own scaling feature as does GOW4 and this seems similar to Nvidias multi shading process (Shadow Warrior 2) or to how even consoles are scaling parts of the screen but maintaing resolution in others. While this does not seem a pure process I am keen to discuss with some of you your thoughts on it? Basically if having framerate/performance issues with say 4K resolution what is the best approach to do this, to use a custome resolution like above or to just drop some graphical settings.
My thoughts are some may want to avoid any weird effects adaptive resolutions options may bring, yet reducing some graphical features often visually is not that aparent but still something we dont like doing. Just something about knowing you are getting the game visually at its best unless some feature is a resource hog but shows little benefits. I do wonder as not owning 4K screen yet. What do you guys that do think, can you help in this little test? I really am curious to hear if you see much visual difference in the above resolution comparison or your thoughts on getting the optimal framerate/resolution/game detail?
16:9 (4K & QHD+ & 1080p)
3840x2160 = 8,294,000
3200x1800 = 5,760,000
1920x1080 = 2,073,600
21:9 (Ultrawide Options 1600p 1440p 1080p)
3840x1600 = 6,144,000 (enjoy the resolution of LGs latest 21:9 screen now on your 4K TV)
3440x1440 = 4,953,600
2560x1080 = 2,764,800
Triple Screen (16:9 Vs 21:9 1080p Comparisons)
5760x1080 = 6,220,800
7680x1080 = 8,294,400
The GTX 1070 (1080 also) in some titles just cant handle the almost 8.3 million plus pixels of 4K with max details. Yet the 5.7 (16:9) of 3200x1800 helps or 6.1 (21:9) 3440x1440 to keep framerates closer to the 60Hz in some titles. I have been benchmarking Assetto Corsa for comparisons but obviously number of pixels being pushed around is a factor as are graphic options.
