I'm getting some force feedback now. but not real good centering torque or anything. Also, i just learned that The game will leave my damage enable Online, even if everyone else in the server has it off. people just rammed me to slow me down :(

Looks like the fanatec update is incoming. make sure to update your windows 10 to latest version as well to avoid problems!

This issue (install W10 patch or redownload the full game when the first update arrives) is going to hurt a lot of people who don't check forums frequently.

The thought of redownloading 49GB with my decent internet isn't a big deal, but it still wouldn't be pleasant. Guys with slow internet will be very unhappy....

I made sure I had the latest WIN10 updates, with how this game seems to demand such.

To avoid issues as possible.
I have stuck with using 30 fps, aint touching that setting until the official patches address the various issues.
Not tried anything with tuning/garage etc (still early into the game thus far) but again I wonder are those or many of the issues linked when running the game beyond the 30fps? Some of you will have more playtime/experience with it thus far.

I also don't want to use a wheel until I know its been sorted and good settings are available.

The only nightmare I have had so far is in trying to download and the VIP stuff which is of course now fixed.

We're talking here about the new Win10 cumulative update which was released in the last 24 hours....

That one needs to be installed ASAP to avoid redownloading the entire Horizon 49GB when the game patch arrives, especially since the Windows Store is set by default to auto-update applications.

Aye, I most certainly wouldn't have bothered checking for updates manually if not for you guys! 👍

Yes I know, Ive only started playting the game since yesterday :)

I can confirm performance issues are not related to fps. 30 or 60, the problems occur once you stsrt messing around in the garagen tuning, customizing, etc. As soon as the game starts stuttering there, the whole game and CPU usage goes haywire.

Will upload screenshot later today to prove it. But my CPU usage is 28% on 30fps and 57% on 60%. It is steady even on heavy weather. Medium settings on my specs. I don't even own an i7.

I haven't messed with tuning or customizing at all yet. The CPU usage is just very high with the frame-rate unlocked or locked at 60, and higher depending on the number of cars on screen. Much higher than any of my other sims (flight or racing). For FH3 I can have everything at Ultra with a resolution of 3440x1440 but at 30 FPS, just an occasional hiccup. For the most part similar to my XOne experience (other than a higher resolution of course).
Also, the CPU usage is not evenly distributed across all cores. The overall usage may claim reasonable percentage but performance may degrade if one or more cores hit the ceiling.
It may also get worse after tuning or customizing, that I don't know.

Seems I'm having good luck in terms of crashes; I've only had one crash so far. (I think it was when I was messing with the resolution.)

Went to a barn find, cut scene starts.. *Crash*
Goes start a race, and apparently i need to buy an appropriate car *Crash*

*sigh*

I like how FH3 doesn't crash. Completely stable. Runs flawlessly for hours at a time. No crashing at all. None. Not a bit.

Err....

It's virtually unplayable, I can count the number of times the game's run for longer than five minutes on one hand. I've tried disabling the microphone but that didn't make a bit of difference, setting graphics to low everything worked once but then it eventually crashed, next game launch with the same settings it blew up and died 30s after I loaded into the world. I didn't pay $110 for Windows Appcrash Simulator 2016 :irked:

i5-3570K, 3GB 780Ti with 372.90 drivers, 24GB memory, game installed on Intel 600p PCI-e SSD

It's a shame as the game is a lot of fun when it runs...

Yeah... This game is unplayable now. I cannot customize or buy cars anymore without the game getting permanently stuck on saving....

No demo, no refunds, great move. So my Laptop runs the game OK at 1600x900 low settings and 2x MSAA. full on crash at 8x and 16XAF 900p. I7 860m runs Apex at 1080P60, this game 1080p isn't playable much at all even at 30fps.

Maybe the mission of a subpar pc port was to get us so hyped up and then frustrated that we go spend hundreds more for an Xbox1 to play it...

Not me, I will wait as long as it takes (even never) to purchase the game after it is not broken, will play at 60 fps with my g27 wheel.

Until then, I wait patiently. I don't want to be a paying beta tester like Project Cars was initially.

What's the point in bringing this game to PC if we have to play at 30fps. No way am I paying money for that. I thought the Forza Apex beta was badly optimised enough but at least that runs at a solid 60fps. Will wait and see if they release a demo otherwise I will sadly be giving this a miss.

Well, it seems I sorted out the crashes during Auto Showroom/Tuning/Car Buying/Customizing. I disabled my antivirus. CPU usage now at 50%. All settings at Medium except mirror which is at Low. 1920x1080, MSAA x2, FXAA off, locked 60fps and V-Sync. game still looks better than the Xbox version with these settings.

I'm having no noticeable frame drops. Constantly between 58 to 61 fps, except on Surfers Paradise were it drops at 50 in some roads. Micro-freezing occurs a lot less to the point were I can notice it anymore.

My rig:

i7 6700
GTX 970
16GB DDR4
500 GB SSD
21:9 2560x1080

I run the game on the high preset at a solid 60fps all the time with vsync on.
Since I started playing I've had 2 CTD's.

Am I the only one that can't even get Apex to run right? I mean its ok for the first couple races, but after about 4 or so it starts dropping frame rates from 60 down to like 58, 56, then holds 57 with ticks to 60. After like 8 races it give me a headache. I ran a 30 minute race right away after starting up the PC and it held 60 with one dip to 57. That was half the reason I haven't bought FH3 yet.

For the curious: CPU is a 4690k, 16 gigs of ram, and I have twin gtx 970's, but of course no SLI support. My brother has the same cpu and ram but twin 980ti's and still has issues much the same. I tried to lock it at 30, but it didn't look good, kinda jittery.

Who knows. Open to suggestions.

Just had my 2nd crash... loading a race when it happened. As fun and amazing the game itself is, the game performance is a hit-and-miss.. At least the latest update I posted here a few posts back tells me that T10/Playground is actually giving a care about the PC version's issues.

Starting to run out of save space on my computer. I have an extra 1 TB of storage, but Horizon was installed on the main 128 GB space. I only have 10 Gigs left and I'm wondering if I can move the save to the storage drive.

Downloading it now, I built an entire new PC for this (I needed a new one at some point anyway) so really hoping I don't get any crashing issues. Is the game getting patches fixing any of these issues so far?

It's not possible to move the entire game folder over. You'll have to reinstall the game on the other drive.

For the save it'll sync your latest save once you start up the game. The same thing will happen when you play on the Xbone.

Not a bad rig. You'll be able to play 1080p at high/ultra. But lock FPS to 30, because at 60 the game stutters and hitches.

No patches yet. There's one that was pushed out recently but that was to fix downloading.

Settings -> Apps & features, find Forza and go to town

I may have fixed some of my crashing issues, I installed an older Nvidia driver (372.70) and although the game will have a whinge about unsupported hardware/drivers on startup it's running a lot more stable. Not sure if it's a driver thing or a game thing but whenever I try to set up the Surfers Paradise festival I end up with a black loading screen that lasts for 15+ minutes between the cutscene and getting to choose a free car; after picking a car it does the same thing again, except this load screen was churning away for 20 minutes before I gave up. On these drivers I was able to continuously play for several hours (until the Surfers festival load screen failage) so at least that's an improvement.

My experiences with moving the games installation have been less than satisfactory, to put it mildy. It refused to move it (failed with some error code) and after that I wasn't able to install the game anymore on either of my HDs. It did download the whole 50GB, then failed with another error code. After trying that twice (luckily I'm not on limited bandwidth) I reinstalled Windows and that did the trick. I think the encryption thing messed up somehow, so be careful.

I might try clearing more space just to be safe. I'm thinking of uninstalling Apex since it got boring.

Strange the differences we are having... I've had one game crash total (admittedly in only around 10 hours play). And I've always been running the latest Win10 patches and latest Nvidia drivers, etc...

I tested 30fps with ultra+8xMSAA (with the Nvidia Inspector frame limiter setting) and it was solid and playable, but I find myself preferring unlocked frame rates with shadows, environment and reflections on high, everything else on ultra and 4xMSAA. Despite the motion blur, ~60fps just feels that bit smoother and more comfortable to play.
