On what platform will you play FH3?

I adjusted yesterday a bit and have it on all medium at 1080. Running on 60fps but going down to 45 sometimes, and having some puntual freeze. My specs are:

I5 2500K 3,3 ghz with auto OC to 3,8
8 GB RAM DDR3
Asus Strix GTX 970 4GB

I assume the cpu is becoming a bit weak for this?

Little update.

Found out that locking the framerate to 30 fps I can play at 1080 completly maxed out. Will keep this setup as long as there is a patch that hopefully adresses the stuttering issue.

Anyone else not able to play this game on PC with the t300rs because of how it feels?

The first few degrees of turning the wheel just feels dead, I have to turn the wheel quite a way before feeling some force/weight, making controlling cars extremely difficult. Drifting is near impossible for me because of it, I just lose all control of the car.

I don't have any problems with a normal controller. If anyone using the same wheel could share their in-game and t300rs control panel settings, that'd be appreciated.

I have T300 drivers on 75/100/100/0/0.
In game I turned up linearity to 55% to help with the centre issue, put force and vibration on 80%. Feels good enough offroad. On tarmac it's not great but I have sufficient control.

Thanks, I'll try those settings.

Got the Standard Edition, now I have to wait until I get to school so the download speed will be faster (I usually get there an hour early so that should be enough time to fully install).

Man. I'm wondering how my rig will do.

i7 6700 4.4 GHz
32 GB DDR4
GEFORCE GTX 980 4GB
Samsung SSD EVO 500GB
Samsung 3440x1440 Ultrawide

I have one big problem, the game keeps shutting down on me. I can open the game and be at the menu screen, but when I click "continue" it's close down on the loading screen. :banghead:

I was thinking uninstall and install the game. Maybe that would work...

The 980 does well enough for me. The rest of your system looks better than mine - I think you're good to go.

Some suggestions: select a windowed mode, disable your mic, and disable any Antivirus (esp. if you're using Avast). Apparently, the realtime decryption/encryption stuff is tricking AV software that it's malware.

I'm really anxious to try this game, but I think I'll wait just a little bit yet to see if there's proper ultra wide + triple monitor support coming. Also, I need to get W10 installed. :)
Graphics look reeeeally good.

Man, this game definitely needs some optimization done. Hopefully PG/T10 get the patches out ASAP.
Agree, I can get it to run a little better visually than the XOne version (1080p) but my PC hardware is much better than an XOne. I would also prefer to run at the native resolution of my monitor (3440x1440). Holding a steady 60FPS is tough no matter what hardware is used from what I understand. This is new territory (PC development and DX12) for a Forza title - I also hope they spend some time to optimize for the PC, a high and smooth frame-rate is of utmost importance to me.

I can play AC and pCARS at 3440x1440 without dropping below 60FPS at mostly max settings. While I don't expect the same with FH3, it surely should do better in my opinion. Yes, if I drop down to 1080p I can get better but then I might as well run it on my XOne.

The 1060 should be doing 60 on high with some AA without too many problems.

I've also noticed that after an hour or so the stuttering gets worse.

Hi, can you confirm with others if it helps locking the game to 30. Also if this is a factor for all resolutions?

Do you have 3GB or 6GB version of 1060?

Just remember that the Forza Horizon 3 engine is designed to be twice as taxing on the Xbox One as Forza Motorsport (30 versus 60fps locked).

I am getting roughly half the FPS in Horizon 3 compared to Apex (55-65 versus 90-130) at ultra settings 1080p with my GTX970+i7 6700k combo, to give you a feel for the difference.

Getting further into the game, I ran one of the rainforest supercar races in the rain earlier which dropped frame rates into the low 40s on a few occasons, so I was probably optimistic with the GTX970 being able to run at nearly ultra settings. Digital Foundry's video and that performance chart on the previous page are clearly based upon the most taxing corners of the game.

This means that right now Horizon 3 is more than twice as taxing on your PC compared to Apex....

In my case it means a choice between accepting frame rate drops in the most taxing spots of the game, or drop visual settings down to maintain 60fps, it's a tough call. :)

All of the following tests where done in Surfer's Paradise (in the rain) with a GTX 1060 6GB, high graphics settings, and in the first 30 minutes of gameplay.

1080p@60: Fluctuates from 45-60.
1080p@30: 30 with some drops here and there.
720p@60: Fluctuates from 48-60.
720p@30: 30 with some drops here and there.

Even with all the settings changes, there are still stutters (like when the 'roads found' box shows up). It seems like resolution makes little difference to FPS and this leads me to say that that this game is in dire need to be optimized for 60 FPS gameplay.

Well, $60 wasted. My graphics card isn't compatible. The game runs, but it crashes after a few minutes.

EDIT:
Take that back, fixed it hopefully.

I've had some time to try different settings... no matter what I try I can't get a consistent 60 FPS. Lowering resolution and detail doesn't make much of a difference - even 1080P and medium settings with my hardware will not be smooth, and anything lower than medium doesn't look too good.
I ended up locking (vSync) at 30 FPS, this allows me to run 3440x1440 at Ultra settings - looks very good but not as fluid as I would hope (60FPS is expected on the PC, at least for me). More or less XOne performance but at an UltraWide resolution (can't set the resolution on my XOne). I guess for those without an XOne, at least there's a choice.
It seems a powerful CPU is needed (i7 @ 4.0GHz is not enough), not so much the graphics card, for 60FPS.

EDIT: There was a very noticeable steering delay at 30FPS until I found this tip on another site.
"If you are using a nvidia card, use nvidia profile inspector to set 35 fps (Frame Rate Limiter v2) under Sync & Refresh/Frame Rate Limiter and activate 30 fps lock and vsync in the game. There won't be input lag anymore."

What GPU do you have?
I'm don't know much about my laptop, it's an HP OMEN with NVIDIA GEFORCE 960 (I think). I looked on the Forza forums and found a solution. Haven't tested it yet, but it better well bloody work.

As I stated in the Relaxed FH3 Chat, today wasn't a good day for Horizon 3. As a couple mention above there is an annoying lag that progresses as you play the game, to the point were frames dip below 20 for a fraction of a second randomly but constantly. Only restarting the game puts them back to a solid 60fps.

I've noticed that the game starts to fail when you're buying cars, customizing or tuning them. Once you play around in the showroom, it's really a hit or miss if the game will still work properly. My games has been stuck a lot on the black loading screen, or the saving screen after buying/customizing/tuning. I have to kill it through task manager.

I've had a couple of cars with invisible icons too. Only selling them and repurchasing them will fix it. Disappearing rear wheels seem to occur frequently too.

My CPU is bottlenecked it seems. 100% all the time, even when on menus. You would think a 4.2GHz K series would be enough, but apparently you need an X series or something uber-expensive. Another thing that was mentioned above is that it really doesn't matter if you lower settings. The problems persist. I'm playing fully in Medium now (low looks like crap), but nothing improved at all. Same frame-rates and same exact lag (on a GTX970).

I think I'm giving Horizon a break. I do not want to kill my computer for something that is probably being done on purpose by the developers to keep control of their player base (DRM bs). 30fps hurts my soul, but I think I'll play it on my Xbox One for now. I have almost 60 games on Steam; it's not worth blowing up my beloved gaming rig for one game that I can play on another device I don't really care for.

The game runs okay for me (nearly max settings, 1080p, 60FPS with a few performance related drops to ~50 and the occasional random "hiccups")... I'll give this a try and see if it helps with the stuttering. Assuming that this effectively assigns the game's processes to a different core than the on-the-fly-decryption, it might actually do the trick 👍

Still need that performance patch, though.

As it is, I can totally see a pirated version - running without the need to decrypt its stuff - perform a lot better. And that's just sad.
