two eggs
1 cup of sugar,
3 table spoons olive oil
a good oven
and time!

Hahaha!!!

I'm looking forward to this simply because I want to see how it pans out, never been able to watch a full on oval race before so should be interesting!

I'll be at Indy for sure. 👍

Joe and I had a blast doing some side by side racing in the corners and pushing & drafting each other down the straights during a 42 and a 32 lap test race last Friday. Speed here is going to be fast. Just play alot of caution when going into the corners drafting. There has to be a bit of give and take here, especially turn one. Teams should do pretty well working together.
Hope to see a big turn out for this race. It's going to be a good one. :dopey:

I'll be at indy as well, I wont be taking risks trying to pass people in the corners, as theres 2 long straights to do the overtaking on!.

I'm only getting 182mph out of the BMW running on my own, does anybody know if that is good or bad? think im gonna need some drafting/pushing to keep up in this race 👍

I wonder if we can pick up any new guys to build the field a bit for Indy!

Was thinking the same thing as you. I moved this tread over to Spot Race section to see if we can get some randoms. After me and TnT's FP1 session at Indy there was a lot of things I found out about oval racing and due to this track layout opposed to other ovals this track has charater. At Daytona we would look like the 2013 Daytona 500, but here at Indy you actually have to drive the car thru the turns and this becomes more problematic as the tires shoot off. We will be doing more than drafting in a straight line here and the Vette's imo aren't a treat like some assume they might of been. Me and Tnt picked up on 2 different types of drafting. There is the draft up to and sling shot pass vs the bump all the way down te straight and then walk them up the track going into turn 1 and 3. I know which 1 is more advantages then the other and I will be finding my partner on track so we can work together to either check out, or catch up to lonely cln air drivers. I had no idea there was so much strategy on a Oval track like this.

I will update you guys with pitlane exit rules and caution flag period speeds & pitting. For now we are taking the pit lane exit on the back strech to insure safety merging with pacing traffic.

Yeah it's definitely going to be interesting and if we can get a good grid size it will make it all the more exciting! Not to sure how I'm going to do being a one man wolf pack, but I'll try and tag along with you guys and hopefully I can shake and bake a little bit!

I think running the back exit is definitely the safest option, and with a little bit of common sense with sticking to the left until its clear, everything should be really smooth on the pit exit side!

These cautions are going to be very interesting! Might do my final tuning tonight and see if I can run a public lobby and set my transmission in some randoms drag to simulate seeing as all my timing is out to run with you guys!

Indy's oval is boring imo. Would have much preferred Motegi's. Indy is simple, once through the first corner of the turn, aim for the inside curbing on the 2nd part and you can run it flat. The only thing here will be the difference in top speeds. Corvette will be up front, again.

Yeah but like joe said I think with the drafting and the corners of Indy it could end up bringing the vettes back a bit

In cln air the Vette's weren't as fast as the Viper's & Citroen's for sure! I ran high & low downforce on the Vette's. The Citroen matched the Viper's in corner speed but my Viper ran the line a lot cleaner imo. Yes on the Softs I felt the cars did hook up too well and I was about to do a tire change rule to the meds, but the softs allowed more different pit windows to be played out instead of the obvious 2 pit windows with the medium tires so I left it at softs plus once the soft tires fall off which is before the pit windows unless your the guy going for the 4 stopper, and you do have to drive the car thru the turns with a little throttle modulation so it won't be all-out the entire race. 👍

Joe, I have an idea: since I'm pretty bored to drive an oval .... I think I have found a JOB for me...

I'll be your safety car guys!!! I'll use the NISSAN SKYLINE (pace car) and I'll drive you during cautions... start pace lap and so on...

what do you think?

But if you don't race, then we will have to wait the whole race to find out who wins? What's the fun in not knowing who is going to win...

Edit: that would be a pretty damn good idea though. Would save a hell of a lot of confusion

That would be 🤬 awesome!.!, even tho I would rather have you on grid' 👍

I second that notion. I would rather see ya in the race. Come on guys, this is the only oval we are probably doing. I would love to have a full grid of drivers and that means you too Gp. This is going to be a good one. :)

To all the drivers who don't normally do oval track races, I gareentee you'll think this race was a blast eventho we went in a circle afterwards, Watch!!!

Nooo.... GP, I wanted to chase after your corvette!!!

Thanks for the kind words guys 👍 but I prefer to help with the pace car so we can have a "real experience" and beacuse I think It's cool and I won't be stressed to much :)

Joe can you tell me about regulations for the pace car?

You can turn the lights on and off with the pace car i believe

I tried it yesterday with the horn button but it does not work the lights are always on
Well it's not a big problem, when I head for the pit entry the guys will now that they can launch on the start/end finish line :)

Only problem is you won't be able to watch the race!!

Haha good call!
Now we just need to find somewhere for you to sit!!

I'll be in the pitstop pushing esc button to not be released from pit and to be able to chat if necessary to inform everyone that PACE CAR will be released if something happens (when two or more drivers are involved in an incident and each/they call caution).
Also I'll drive you guys during the pace lap at the beginning of the race... that's pretty cool

I'd say sit on the inside of the track between turns 3 and 4, beneath the warm lane... there is a gap in the wall to recover cars which would allow you to get onto the track much faster.

You could then pull off at the entry to the warm up lane at turn 3, allowing the leader to set the pace. Joe, will the field able to go once onto the front straight?

Pace lap pace car speed will be 88 mph and we will race to the line after 2nd caution is texted. Still reviewing caution periods so find out how many laps we need to cycle everyone thru the pits at the moment. Looks like at least 2 pace laps to a possible 3 laps. Ill be online with TnT tomorrow if he can free up to practice this in action.

If this works well, can we have a pace car for the rest of the series? This sounds so cool! Haha

Joe, how are we going to work it out so we don't lose to many racing laps? Maybe we could guesstimate, and add a few on to compensate?

I think I managed to get into high 48 territory. But still finalizing everything to cope with drafting situations better. Should be a good race!
