No way. The Tyre models are way out on this game.

I bet Sports hards would make for a much more realistic experience in the Ford MKIV for grip levels for example.

Also, F1 cars feel better on Comfort tyres, as the Racing tyres give too much grip.

I doubt the MKIV would be more realistic on SH. :odd: Maybe SS but RH feels about how I'd expect.

Wait, so you have driven something similar?

The Ford on Racing Hards is way too grippy, watching videos of the old cars, drivers fighting the wheels, it's nothing like that on the game.

He said expect, but I wouldn't know what's most realistic, the tyres on this game can all spin at the same rate, it's just the less grippy tyres give more warning of spinning.👍

Edit: I can't comment on the Ford's willingness to spin as I've never driven it, but in WSM last season, I would have had to get some practice in to make the Hards work as I was used to Mediums on the Jag.

No. Hence why I said: "How I'd expect".

Drivers of the old endurance racers really didn't fight the wheels much. The cars were designed to be comfortable for someone to drive at high speeds for hours.

If you watch videos of GTs and such a like they aren't kicking out and understeering everywhere.

Okay, watch old GT videos and they are very tentative on the throttle, etc.

In game you can push the cars to the absolute limit and still it's not hard.

It's not just the wheelspin it's the cornering speeds too.

They really aren't that tentative. Sure they aren't mashing the throttle out of every turn, but I don't know about you but I can't mash the throttle in GT5 in the MKIV without spinning it around.

Cornering seems about right, I think the most difference is the fact that it GT5 you can push the cars to the absolute limit without consequences. 👍

Cobras of course are a lot livelier and they are very tentative out of turns IRL. :nervous:

Also the F1 cars are just badly modeled. On comfort tyres you can still go far faster than they actually do. 👎

The Alfa Romeo also handles moire realistic on Sports Tyres, because there is NO way it is that grippy IRL on the old tyres they used to use.

True, but again I think the handling on the TZ2 probably isn't right whatever tyre you use- far too stable.

But I don't think it's correct about sports tyres being closer to what they used to use because the car was designed in game around it's base tyre- therefore it's modeled as having the grip it should on it's base tyre- admittedly there are a few cars that are messed up.

Anyway, we aren't going to agree and we're way off topic. :guilty:

There was a thread about this somewhere, I will have to find it..

From what I've found the tyre models are a bit off because tyre width isn't calculated. So basically it's car dependent, which tyre is best.

I think RH are the best tyre for the MKIV (massively wide tyres) and gets me to what lap time I'd expect at Le Mans- 8 seconds off what they used to run which if you take into account the track changes is about right. 👍

Not sure on the Cobra, but either SH or CS, probably SH because of the wide tyre.

Also the tyres in GT5 only cover a small area of different real life compounds so cars are just given the closest to what they can get. :indiff:

You're prioritising all wrong! Only Swe - Fin would be important enough to miss a race! (By the way I hope you're getting scared over there.. Our tournament is shaping up very nicely so far ;) )

You are a weak man carracer ;) anyway, who needs to be awake? i'm racing at my best when i forget about what i'm doing and only drive on impulses.. should be about same as driving half asleep :)

We're leading 1-0 after one period, and since we have the best goalies in the tournament, I wouldn't be too worried :)

Yeah Finnish goalies are the kings of goalkeeping, ours are good as well but he can't handle his stick very well ^^ (gave the Chechs a free goal yesterday)

probably shouldn't talk hockey here though.

Enough with the chatting. :grumpy:

..........

At least our chat was relevant to cars and GT5. :sly:

Not about that football-on-ice-so-called-sport. :P

Yep, ice hockey is indeed about trying to kick a ball on ice, and has yellow and red cards, corner kicks and free kicks...

I know. ;)

The only good sport is motorsport.

Tennis is fun to play as well.

👍

This is coming after Season 3...

You should call it the "Carroll Shelby Memorial Trophy" though. :P

Or "Carroll Shelby Remembrance Cup".

Or "Carroll Shelby Remembrance Cup".

I wanted it to be a celebration not a rememberance.

Celebrate the kick-ass cars he helped design and race them.

I'm thinking a calender along the lines of...

Indy Road,
Nurb GP/D,
Spa Francorchamps,
Monza,
Monaco,
Le Mans,
Nurb 24H
