Twin Ring Motegi Road Course - Wet conditions driving.
(testing changeability)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is this weeks tip/hints video! This round @ Motegi RC will be about weather changeability! You can expect to race in wet & dry conditions! There might be times the weather changes quickly & you will have to make a quick pit choice or stay out & see what happens for 1 lap or more! This race will be ran in conditions that are NOT considered to be 'ideal'. Keeping your car on course & NOT over driving it regardless of your tires or track conditions will be the 'key'! Remember!, rain is the ultimate equalizer!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lapped car procedure

-- In previous rounds there has been 1 or 2 issues with lapped cars identifying leaders approaching. In this race it will be VERY important to exercise proper race etiquette during overtaking.

Lead cars;
-- To insure safe overtaking between leaders & lappers this round, Leaders will be required to 'flash' head-lights before overtaking a lapped car. You can ONLY flash head-lights if YOU are a leader overtaking a lapped car. Make sure to check your control settings & have the ability to flash your lights on a comfortable button.

Lapped cars;
-- To insure safety for lapped cars, ALL lapped cars who see an approaching car with flashing lights MUST yield/give corner. See above video for example on how to conduct your driving while being lapped. (Plz do NOT flash your lights if you are NOT a leader.)

-- Overall, as usual, ALL cars are required to exercise high race etiquette. Any lapped car who exercises poor race etiquette will be suspended one race.

Do you think it would be a good idea if the car being lapped should hit the start button so they will ghost and allow the leader to pass safety. I did have trouble identifying lead cars and Thermite_917 mentioned that could be a solution. I also really like the flashing headlights that could tell the lapped car to hit the start button

I meant hit the start button during practice so you could turn the names of the drivers on, but that was before I knew you were in cockpit view. I think ghosting would lose some of the realism.

Hey, VTC!! --

I trust ALL drivers to exersise the correct etiquette, if everyone follows the above procedure & understands i think it will be fine! (Lapped car procedure)

-- The rule in racing for lapped cars is; stay on the prefered race line & it is up to leader to go around u in a safe manner. It is also that once a leader is attemping the pass, the lapped car has to give leader the position/advantage!

-- The problem with pressing start/auto-pilot is, the auto-pilot sometimes turns car aggressively to one side of the track. It can cause accidents so, we will NOT use the start button for overtaking.

-- thnx!!

Ok, it was just an idea

Since we're on the subject, ghosting when you crash or spin and don't want people to hit you is not allowed as well, correct?

Won't you get ghosted automatically? Never understood when the game does it by itself or not.. (Maybe another noob question by Gappasson!)

Well it's part of the penalty system, but it's not always consistent. I just know that some people press 'start' to make sure they don't get damage or whatever. I consider that a form of cheating. That's why I wanted to see what gurizzi had to say. Not accusing anyone here of doing it, but I know it's a thing.

Ok, what I noticed is that when breaking too late I get ghosted before a collision can happen, without getting a penalty or any kind of disadvantage..

Yeah, you can become ghosted without receiving a penalty, but it's still part of the penalty system. That part isn't cheating because it's just how the game works. I'm talking about the people who intentionally ghost in order to not hit someone or get hit.

Yep, of course it's not cheating.. Just wanted to know if it makes sense to press the start button as you're gonna become a ghost anyway. But that "feature" may be unreliable.
All in all I think it's good not to ghost intentionally. Makes the whole thing feel less realistic

Hey, thermite & gappasson --

I've never heard of people pressing start to avoid a collision, just the thought of someone trying to press start before they crash makes me :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:.

-- The 'ghost' happens automatically when GT6 determines your car is out of control in order to avoid contact with other cars. It does NOT happen if you are about to hit a wall.

---- I would like ALL to go by the 'lapped car' procedure I posted above plz! This should be more then enough & Like I said, I trust & want to give all a chance to manage their own race!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We did more weather settings testing today & I think we finally have a number to settle on for the weather changeability. Yesterday the issue was not the weather changing but, the surface water changing too fast! I think we took car of that! This will be an exciting race to say the least! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--- Sunday 'Race day' weather settings. (official)

-weather: 60%
-time: 7:10
-time progression: 28
-weather changeability: 10
-surface water @ start: 10%

I don't expect big problems with lapping here, especially when you look at how nice all lapped drivers behaved in the past (my impression).
What could make it more difficult this time is the mist, making it harder to see who's behind you and whether he's flashing his lights or not.

Btw: gibbsgto lap times from yesterday make me think about getting lapped instead of lapping other cars :lol::lol:

Woo Hoo, i finally registered to GTP and this is my first post anywhere online so forgive my noobness lol.It was a good test at Motegi yesterday but still need to find a good wet weather setup !!

My best lap in the SLS was only a 1:49.7, and I was consistently in the 1:50's. I know that's a little slow so I'll mess with the aero more tomorrow, but man, did that car handle well :D Hopefully I can lower the downforce and still have good control. Really looking forward to the rain to possibly put things more in the drivers' hands.

Thanks for the welcome guys, going to be a blinding race today i feel. Those fp2 times gurizzi, who was doin 1.47's in gtr and sls ?
