Confirming my presence in a part-time campaign with the Ford Focus đź‘Ť

Could I sign up as a reserve, I would'nt make all the races.

If thats ok i'll get a car sorted probably the golf.

I'll go with the Golf, colour some Metallic red.
I'll hopefully make this weeks.

i managed to get a 1:37.5 on a one off lap round the nurburgring / D , got the corners just right on one lap

High 1:36s, I managed with the Focus and the Golf but it killed my front tyres with a basic tune, need some work on it.

I have some bad news, and I think the same applies for Akmuq, probably :P (remember how we frantically got TOCA postponed :P)

I cant race next saturday, champions league final :P

Yup, sorted.đź‘Ť

Alright. I'll test out the Mazda. :) Sounds cool.

I just started autocrossing an '09 Hyundai Accent (it's my dad's car, and we have sorta agreed to share driving it.)

The grip isn't quite there, so, I'm learning a lot about driving on the ragged edge... Surprisingly, the Accent has good torque, though. It wheelspins in second, no matter what the revs are doing. 2000 until 6000=wheelspin.

So, I'm hoping that *somehow* my real life autocrossing stuff can help me out on a DS3. :grumpy::crazy::yuck:

Anyways, EDIT** I'm about to build/test/tune the car. If I get in the 1:36s or 1:37s, I'm in.

Wait, so you guys ran 1:36s on Sports softs? I can barely run 1:39s! I'd like to see replays or something, please, because I'm running out of racetrack running 1:39s. I run 1:40s without problem, but, if you are saying 1:36s, then, obviously I'm being an idiot and missed something, or you guys missed/forgot the rule in the OP about sports softs...?

Anyways, if these *are* reasonable lap times, and I'm going to have some close BTCC/WTCC style racing, sign me up:

Names: MrMelancholy15/MrMelancholy15
Car: Mazda Atenza
Colour: red w/ silver rims, like my autocross car IRL
Team: Phoenix Mazda *OR* if someone could please explain to me what the difference between Independent/non-independent is...?

Finally, click any of the links in my signature, except the ITCC, which I'm running *SOON* to prove that I'm a clean driver. The ALMS guys sorta hate me, because I've got a big, heavy, bad-handling car that kills them on the straights, and then burns its tires...

I'm winning the Rolex series, currently, in both driver/manufacturer standings, and in the ALMS, I haven't really gotten any warnings/points deductions for any dirty driving...

Don't think they have missed any rules in the OP they're just very fast drivers :P if you keep practising you'll see that you can get closer to those times ^^

This. Nurburgring GP/D is and easy track to lose time on and not know where. :)

I've been running this track a lot for the last couple of weeks, so my times have improved a lot a round GP/D. High 1:36s is hot lapping not racing I always find my racing times to be slower by at least half a sec.

If you master T1 on this track you can gain a second easy.

Yes very true as I have been turning 1:39.4s in the Honda and have no clue as to where I could improve!

Not up to spec yet still down 5-10 hp, and I think I can still improve my line through turn 1 and will try some different lines into certain corners in an attempt to find some time...feel good about race pace though.

The first complex is key- you can lose a second + there if you don't get your line right.

The chicane is also a place where you can lose a lot of time- make sure you're braking as late as you can and using as much of the first kerb is legal to get a good run out. đź‘Ť

The turn onto the long straight can gain you a bit of time too. Go right out to the outside and turn in with a dab of brakes- you want to clip the apex fairly late to get on the power early and the best run out.

This is definitely where I am losing time, turn 1 and my line into turn 2 are the two places that I have been least confident in. I really need to tighten up my line into and out of turn 1 and approach turn 2 much wider to carry more speed. Up to this point I have only taken 1 line through this section as I was mostly focusing on car setup.

I feel I'm on the limit through the last 2 sectors, the right hander coming on to the straight is one of my favorite corners, reminds me of turn 14 at Road America đź‘Ť

That corner out onto the straight and the preceding one are my favourite on the track. You feel like you're going to go wide, but if you can stay in it you get a massive rush. :D

I agree. Knowing how to take those corners is so important and a great place to pass, great feeling passing someone around the outside going into the left hander :)

Or getting a great run out of the right hander and blasting past them on the straight into the chicane.

Had some great overtakes there in the Elises. Including my final overtake on Carbonox for 2nd. :D

D'oh! Just found out that I've got a gig on Saturday, right when this is on. Sorry guys, I'll be back for Round 2.
