you would have thought setup might not make that much, but if you get the car to be predictable you can really throw it in to some of the corners and thats where the time comes :)

Can't join right now but thanks for the tune, i'll give it a try.. after i tried without tirewear ^^

Edit: Spending half the night on testing, the set up was good, put me down to 1:38.5 but after reaching that i'm just stuck.. i can get half a tenth here and there but I really doubt that i will ever go under 1:38 in this car.

Edit2: Anyone else in the Golf who've gotten better times? would like to know what i'm doing wrong.

Yep I'm driving the golf. The only thing I can think of is that you're maybe going into the corners to hot, after running this track a hell of a lot over the last month and a half I found a massive difference in T1 if you dont get it right and can lose over half a second there.

At least you don't stryggle to get 1:39s. I'm doubtung these BS 1:36s people are mentioning. SOMEONE POST A VIDEO.

I'm Top 1000 for GT Academy at least 6+ times... Yet I'm 3 seconds off pace?? You 1:36 people read the OP about sports softs...?

Hi, I would post a video but wouldnt have a clue were to start.
I often race with drivers in WRS who are over 2-3 seconds a lap quicker than me in exactly the same car with no tunes.

Like I posted earlier on in the thread the 1:36s are high (1:36.8) and that is right on the limit of my drivin, cant see me running them times all race. After testing last night around 50 laps only a few were in 1:36s the rest ranged from 1:37s to 38s. I'm not the quickest driver its just i've ran this track so much that I know it like the back off my hand.

I also might not make the race yet thats why i've signed up as a reserve but if you still want proof and I cant make the race I'll run some laps with you 👍

Yeah i'm probably going in too hot and out even hotter ^^ should be able to shave my times down to 1:38.0 at least..

Three main things 1. Are you driving on fuel/tyre wear off? 2. Have you got a decent tune like hasslemoffs? 3. Are you using all the track? (Inside wheel on the exit kerbs)

I personally got 1:37.2-1:37.5 in all the Fwds but struggled to get 37s in the stupid Clio.

Also I believe the 36s being talked about are high 36s. (36.8-36.9 ish)

What car are you using? with racing tires you should be much faster, have you driven this track much? because it really is a b*tch to get right. Can lose seconds without knowing it.

Edit: Tried the Mazda, that's your car right? Anyway with hasslemoffs basic tune i managed 1:38.5 with that as well.. so probably a bit set up and a bit track knowledge that is lacking...

I've driven the track 100s or 1000s of times. I'm well practiced with it. The only thing I could think of would be a tune, but, the Mazda handles fine as it is... :(

I mean, really, I am one of the fastest drivers in Canada in real life, but, unfortunately, I can't get that to show through DS3.. As a kid, I was invited to Canada's national karting team (age 12,) and, now, (age 18) I'm doing autocross and such. I really don't actually understand where I'm losing time, because I don't think the driving is the reason...

I don't know what you're hinting at.

Yeah, do like me. Lose the first race then win the second from the front ^^ (Probably will be hard when you're 2 s per lap behind though..)

Only the first 8 from the race before are reversed, everyone behind them starts as usual. :)

So, where do your priorities lay?

I'm leading the goddamn series with only a few rounds to go...

This sadly means that my season will probably only be a half, but hey, I can't stretch into 2 rooms at once.

Oh come on...

Your a purely one dimensional penguin you say? that's sad to hear..

He's not even a penguin, he's just a Finnish kid dressed as one.

Hey, I'm rarely leading anything, and now you want to take that happiness away from me? :(

I'll be back after the mid-season break...

I just don't understand why you all end up running three seconds faster... It's perfectly fine, and I'll see what I can do, but, I guess I won't expect to do well.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I am turning 1.38s and haven't come near 1.37s let alone high 1.36s, so you will have some company at the back :).

Sometimes it helps to take a break, step back and clear your mind of any thoughts of the track. If you are driving the track in your imagination, when you close your eyes, daydreaming about it, then you are driving it too much!

I took a break for about 2 days and came back to the car, realized I had a poor setup, did a setup from default that I really liked, and was lapping a second faster. I still feel I and the car have more to give, but I am not worrying about it, just looking forward to the race.

The most important thing to remember is that this is a championship, with 8 rounds at very different tracks. Just because you are not at the front at nurburgring doesn't mean you won't be right up there in London or at Monza.
👍

Yeah, thanks. I'm getting worked up, but, only because I'm not used to being slow... :nervous::scared:

He edited he had signed up with the Golf but must have changed his mind :(.

Sorry Dax but I'm going to have to withdraw from the series.

I can't get the Clio to work and I'm still 5 seconds off the pace and no time to get it set up.

Sorry again Mate

Can't you switch car? :S

So, I think this is 2/3 PM EST (my actual time zone-don't worry too much about the real reason/location.) and I can make it. Just one question: are these lobbies open lobbies, or held in someone's lounge?

If it's the lounge option, I need to add someone.

They are held in my lounge, so add me on PSN: GTP_DaxCobra

Why do people quit because they can't find a good tune for a car? it's not like everyone else is going to be that fast either, will be fun racing all down the field. Don't really get this only joining series where you have the possibility of winning.. If you drive with real fast drivers that you have no chance against and cars that are hard to set up you learn so much more and the sense of accomplishment when you reach a higher result than expected feels at least as good as winning a race against your equals.

👍 Agreed completely.

Oh, it finally makes so much sense why I'm staying... I want to see if I can get fifteenth! Bring it on!

No way, that fifteenth spot is mine! ;) Actually doubt that we'll be that many tomorrow though. My goal is the top 8 for the first race at least, that will make for an interesting second race. :)
