I can't believe the motor that gio dos Santos has. Dude was sprinting everywhere for the whole 90 minutes.

Reports are coming in of a severe shortage of Old El Paso fajita kits across Ireland this evening...

I'm celebrating right now with some mean tacos covered with melted cheese, nopales and a glass of coke. OK so the coke doesn't fit, but I dont have any tequila.

hahaha no, in my moth, in my mouth...

and these guys were cool:

and meanwhile, back over here:

Or "Chicharito, marry me"...

to wit: "Chicharito" refers to the first goal's scorer, Hernández; you could translate it as "little pea".

I love the energy that Mexico that have. Amazing performance and the amount of hustle they showed was inspirational. If England showed half as much attacking prowess as that I think we would be in with a very good chance.

I don't think France played badly. Granted, they weren't as good as they used to be, of course. But Mexico played better, without a doubt. They played much better than during the match against South Africa. I'm seeing Uruguay and Mexico as the leaders of this group, in that order.

No no no France 'r playing like tiny riche soon, and Mexico play with them "trippe" and with heart.
I really hope Mexico dont play the draw match vs Uruguay, because it will be just deserve them performance.
Dont forget than Uruguay OR Mexico play Argentina for 1/8eme. :)

If France have the chance to go in 1/8eme they will be ready for play Argentina and take (France) 5 goal in 20min vs Argentina.

Heuuu... stop with Ireland.
Do you remmember the irland pénalty vs Georgia
"February 11, 2009 in Dublin. Georgia leads 1-0 to Ireland. In the 70th minute, Robbie Keane shot control arm. The referee does not see the fault whistle a penalty for a fault other hand, Georgian thereof. Ireland equalized before scoring the winning goal." :sly:

You have a short memory Irish guys.:grumpy:

I don't see Mexico beating Uruguay by 2 goals in the next match!

Unless I'm missing something in your statement, if Mex defeats Uru next match, regardless of score, they take the top spot in Group A (currently they both have the same points and total goals scored).

The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:

a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

Not at all. Uruguay is playing well, I saw them the other day -sort of- against South Africa and it's a pretty tough team... but I also think that if the S.A. vs France match comes before the Mexico vs Uruguay, both teams may wind down knowing that both have passed to the next stage... but heck, who knows. Mexico still surprised me, altough they failed a damn lot... again.

Uruguay is +3
and Mexico is +2

GP W L T GF GA +/- Pts

Uruguay 2 1 0 1 3 0 3 4
Mexico 2 1 0 1 3 1 2 4

EDIT
I am taking this from yahoo, not really sure if the goal against plays any part int he World Cup. I checked FIFA and they do not have any info on (+/-)

@Cano
Don't get me wrong, As long as both of them make the next round, I don't care who is in what place....
💡 actually let me go check the following rounds brackets to see who should be in what position to have the best match :D

Mexico and Uruguay are tied in the first spot in Group A, with a win and a tie each (4 pts.), and each have scored 3 goals. I think they are tied. There's only one game remaining for them, which is against each other, and I think Uruguay may win that one.

Theoretically, France and South Africa could still advance to the 1/8th finals if either of them win their match (against each other) by more goals than the difference between Mexico and Uruguay...

right?

That's right. If either Uruguay or Mexico win, the result may see France or South Africa progress. 👍

I suppose I'm not seeing why Mexico beating Uruguay by 2 goals in their next match makes any probable difference. That would drop Uruguay's GD to +1 and with France at -2 they'd still have to beat SA by 3 to just get even with Uruguay.

I understand Uruguay technically has a meager lead over Mexico by +1 on GD, but that amounts to a hill of beans if Mexico wins the match. That's my only point (pun intended) if you will ;).

but I also think that if the S.A. vs France match comes before the Mexico vs Uruguay, both teams may wind down knowing that both have passed to the next stage...

Nope. Both matches are scheduled for the exact same start time. My understanding is that this applies to all final Group 1st round matches to prevent the exact situation you are describing.

Arsène wenger is a real gentlemen.

Ridiculous penalty for Irland WC qualif 2009.

Each team had its moment of injustice, and for France i can found lot of like that in Sport.

One exemple: Final France germany in Handball World Cup 2007. 🤬

The goal is completely valid.

Ah, that's good to know.

Also, I think that while Mexico has played well, they have not shown their full weaponry. Aguirre has held Andrés Guardado, who is a superb player. He may appear in the match against Uruguay from the get go, as well as Cuauhtemoc Blanco. If Aguirre finally unleashes him against Uruguay and picks another formation with Guardado in the midfield, Mexico could swipe Uruguay... he makes all the difference in the worlb, he could very well be the so-far-lost connection 'tween the middle field and the forward guys, and he and Blanco really understand each other.

Actually, I still don't know why Aguirre has kept Guardado out. He likes to make us all suffer.

in the meanwhile, here is Mexico City and hour or so ago:

and here is the Angel de la Independencia, which is the get-together point for people to celebrate and get drunk and make some riot when Mexico... well... does something.

France has really good players but their organization is freaking terrible. Even in Pro Evo Soccer, you have to totally rearrange the team in order to play productive football.

Ho yes Omnis.

We need rearange the team and out Raymon.
We need a leader like Zidane, or Platini or Cantona. But it will be for next generation i think in 4 or 6 years.

Here are the wrong results for today's games

Germany 1 - 0 Serbia
Slovenia 1 - 1 USA
England 2 - 0 Algeria

My hunches for today's matches:

Germany 0 - 1 Serbia
Slovenia 1 - 2 USA
England 3 - 1 Algeria

Lets hope there is a lot of goals and good football going on today.👍
