This tournament is full of surprises. I never thought Italy would lose against Slovakia.
What's next? Brazil suffering from a huge rout against Portugal? Spain joining France and Italy's boat? It's crazy I tell you.

WOW.Great strike by Robben, pity it hit the post...someone should choose him for his Fantasy Team:sly:
Japan just scored the 3rd and settled the match:)

Brazil haven't impressed to be honest - I reckon Spain could be the next upset, though...

Holland look good - so many great players, and now Robben is back, I reckon they are looking good for atleast a semi final slot...

What a team.....WHAT A TEAM !!! DOSO !
I dont say that because my futur wife is Japanese, but just because this Japan team play so great. Some time i remember the Brasil in 70' 80'.
What a envy, they'r running them !

Merci les Japonais pour la leçon de football et de coeur.

*takes credit for spotting Japan's credentials the earliest*

Discounting Germany, who managed to put away a truely awful Australian team (or at least 91% of it), only South Korea have shown any spark of genuinely watchable football. I quite enjoyed Japan, Chile and Brazil, but they all failed to put poorer teams to the sword like they ought, and Paraguay and New Zealand played above themselves and made better teams look average - while not being especially enjoyable themselves.

And of those named teams, only New Zealand have failed to qualify for the second round - and then only by one point, without being beaten by anyone.

I've been quite praising of both Japan an Soko. Glad to see such good form from them today, particularly from Honda.

I'm happy to see Italy eliminated primarily on the basis of De Rossi's repeated outrageous, blatant cheating in the matches. And they all go on with that kind of rubbish.

Japan on the other hand, apart from playing very well, are such a respectable group of footballers; no diving, no cheating, no messing around - they just get on with the football. Well done to them.

For sure, the Japanese players were playing so nicely in the game, it seems clear that they're gradually getting better than before ;)

My hunches for today's matches(not hopes):

Portugal 1 -Brazil 2

N.K 0 -Ivory Coast 3

Chile 0 - Spain 1

Honduras 0- Switzerland 2

In the end I just want Portugal to go through and Spain to get into Italy's airplane:P:D

What are the chances of Brazil and Brazil "B" Portugal drawing so they both go through?

If the real Spain turn up, Spain Chile has the chance of being Epic (if we assume that the Swiss will beat Honduras) as both need something from the game. Spain need to win, while Chile need at least a draw.

Well, Italy and France are going home, and I told you guys they weren't teams, just a gathering of good players. I was wrong about Germany though. :ouch:

Anyway, for today I really think that Noko will score against Ivory Coast, but they'll still be defeated 3-1. Brazil and Portugal is a completely open game, even if it's "Brazil B", they're taking out Elano for Dani Alves, and it might be very interesting since Daniel is far more creative than Elano, so Luis Fabiano will receive twice the usual number of good passes, he might lend us a hand to win. :D

We know that the last friendly game (6-2) doesn't mean much at this point, and I'm sure the Portuguese will be thirsty for revenge, so this game will be awesome to watch. Going to the pub in 52 minutes.

Portugal doesn't need a draw to go through since they have a good advantage in the goals scored. I think it will be a tight match, I reckon a draw or a victory to us. 2x2 or 2x1.

I think Chile will beat Spain and Switzerland will beat Honduras.

Hey, we just have 3 of them (thought we should have none). And in the beginning of the Portugal vs. NoKo there weren't any on field. :grumpy:

Brasil is already in next stage and the chances of Portugal not getting through next stage is 1 in 100, because of the huge leap in goal difference between Portugal and Ivory Coast.

Edit: Tree'd

Haha, don't worry. Germany also has Cacau, and Japan has Marco Tulio Tanaka. And I must be forgetting some others.

Even Spain has 2 Brazilians naturalized,Germany has naturalized players from several of their neighbouring countries,..and what shall we say from the french team?(even Zidane was Algerian)...or the dutch team?
I'm not saying it's right(it isn't) I just think we aren't the exception!
The starting line up from the National team will have one Brazilian,I would hardly call this a "Brazil B":sly:

Just hoping for a good game, great football and both teams will go trough, and who knows maybe will meet again in the Final.:)

FORÇA PORTUGAL👍

Don't get me wrong, but I just hate when people say Portugal is "Brazil-B", just because we have what...3 Brazilian players out of 22. And believe me, I've heard this for too many people.

It's not that I am totally against of having non-born Portuguese players in the National Team. I would support fully if even if they didn't born in said country, they have moved to that said country when they were a little child, or had said country parents and wanted to move to there.
What I don't agree is said person only nationalizes just to play in the national team, having nothing to do with said country, and goes away when it ends it's career.

When I said it, I wasn't just focusing on the players. Brazil and Portugal share a language, share a flair for the game, share the same philosphy of how football is played, and share some players.

If Portugal wore yellow tonight, and Brazil wore green and red, a neutral would be hard pushed to tell the difference from the further away cameras.

I'm liking this ref, booking a player for running the length of the pitch to demand someone is sent off and another for someone diving in the box. I wish a few more had the balls to do this too this tournament, I really hate the cheating and 'gamesmanship' that goes on.

Agreed, it's refreshing to see a Ref who doesn't panda to the blatantly poor sportsmanship. I think a lot of sides should take note of say - Japan's sporting conduct. For me it would improve the spectacle a lot.

Anyone else think Pepe is an ugly idiot? The guy is a foul machine.

I want to revise my a opinion on the ref slightly, he's too card happy, the last yellow for Coentrao was very harsh.

I think you're right, there can't be many people left on the pitch without a card now!

I think the ref has played well IMO, although a bit card happy... the Tiago booking was absolutely spot on, and the yellow card for the protest against the not-sending off was excellent as well... OK, it should have been a red, and the protesters were maybe right about that, but they should know that their opinion is of no interest to the referee, and seeking a red card for another player is a bookable offense...

Ridiculous awful exhibition of the Portuguese National Team:grumpy:
I almost dare to say these players don't deserve to go trough the next phase of the tournament:indiff:
