Scoring's always easier when the five defenders are covered by a 10 yard circle.

Or in the attacking penalty box.

Yeah that was a great shot from Germany in the first half of the game, I was amazed to see such a powerful shot

I was amazed, having watched the game, to learn that it was a shot from Germany. Only it looked rather like Frank Lampard took the shot for England and Manuel Neuer failed to save it for Germany.

Still, glad you're here to set me straight.

HAHA so nice.

Welcome on board to nonstop flight to London Heathrow.

The English Press is waiting for you.

Well, nice game, if the assistant referee validated the English goal, things would have been a little bit different, however, Germany deserved the win, now let's watch the next game.

Despite from being South American, I will cheer for MEXICO!

I think this image pretty much sums up how all of England are feeling. Anyways, I'm looking forward to the rest of the tournament, should be interesting.

If the goal was correctly given, then things would have been different. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

Will Capello resign? If so, who to replace him.

Can I just say I have to give my ticket of most impressive player to Özil?

21 years old and the kid is impossible to follow around the field. If there's even one small opening, the lad's there to kick it in. What an astonishing talent!

Also, Schweinsteiger FTW.

Wished this match would've been closer though :indiff:

Sick of hearing people go on about the World Cup.

Exactly my thought, I don't want to hear commentators in any other sport slipping in endless references to our football team. Don't get me wrong, I like watching football but I only want to hear about football when the game is on, not in everything else in my life.

I was gobsmacked at the disallowed goal! I've been saying it for two years now, why can we not have video refs like in Rugby?

Finally, England knocked out and a 4-1 loss as well, awesome! Sick of hearing people go on about the World Cup.

Don't know if you're aware, but it's going to keep going until July 11th. World Cups don't stop when a ridiculously overhyped team of averages gets knocked out you know.

I don't know if he'll go but if he does, Roy Hodgson should get it, as the current best English manager. (or possibly Harry Redknapp)

A footballing country like England should never have a foreign coach. I don't see anything wrong with a developing footballing nation having a foreign coach to help them develop, but an established footballing nation should always have a coach from that nation.

"Soccer is a game for 22 people that run around, play the ball, and one referee who makes a slew of mistakes, and in the end Germany always wins." Gary Lineker

I guess he was right again:sly:
What a great game, many goals and a good exhibition from both teams:tup:
But despite the stolen Goal Germany was obviously stronger and claimed their reputation of favourites in every W.C. I'm sure any team will find very hard to beat them, physically very strong, determinate and with a clean objective,2,3 touches, football.

Now go MEXICO:)

Apologies to any non-UK members, but let's just be thankful we didn't have to suffer that game with ITV commentators and punditry. Yes, it could have been alot worse :nervous:

Bitterly disappointing, but I can't say I've ever seen a worse defensive performance in an international game - unbelievably bad. The disallowed goal was a shocking decision, and it might have changed the game - but I doubt it. Germany were far, far better - and the truly shocking thing is, they weren't great.

well, I cannot see how Mexico can overcome this. I'm not saying Argentina will walk along and score like four goals (or maybe), Mexco will fight, but really, I don't see anything about Mexico that could really put a hurt on Argentina's all-star-stranded team. And "Bofo" will be playing as our main striker. Well, we may keep the 0-0, but scoring a goal? with him, never.

Both defenses were a bit weak in my opinion, but Neuer made some good savings during the second half. But Germany's forwards was very good, England only had Defoe doing something.

I know Argentina will probably win this match but I hope to see a good game. I also replaced A. Cole for Rafa Marques in my fantasy team, so go Mexico!

Alright, I'm not a big football fan and even I feel I could do a better officiating job than what has been seen thus far. Perhaps they should start doing vision tests along with the drug tests they take before being hired.

Ho yes !!! Good bye England.
It was the revenge of 1966 match. England win with no goal. Now the opposite.👍:sly:
Germany - England 1-1

Now we wait the revenge of Sevilla 1982 versus Germany. Maybe during Euro 2012.:)

Good job Germany. Allez les cousins germain !

Argentina Mexico 2-2 Argentina win on penalty. :)
Adelante, Vamos Argentina ! 👍👍👍

I wonder if there is a misunderstanding here:

Reporter: "Will you be resigning?"
Capello: "No. Absolutely No."

Pity that, in English, "resigning" and "re-signing" mean the exact opposite but sound very much the same to a non-native English speaker!

The disallowed goal was a shocking decision, and it might have changed the game - but I doubt it. Germany were far, far better ...

Agreed on both counts. As soon as England went 2-down they were forced to play aggressively to have any kind of chance. They came back and would have changed the dynamic of the game with an equaliser. They would've been able to defend instead of throwing everything forward and being vulnerable to the counterattack. The defence itself was pretty appalling. Was hilarious to watch Ozil outrun them down the line though, time and again. Definitely man of the match for me

Honestly: I am sad about the stolen goal and feel englands disappointment about this "wembley"-style goal....
but on the other side I guess we were indeed stronger and today the better team...
This would have been a dignified final! Unfortunately it was the 1/8final...
Good luck next time, England!

But who knows: Maybe in the end you can say: We lost against the World Champ!..
