Personally I think Ronaldo is the best player in the world right now, I think Messi deserves to win player of the year again after last season but I think Ronaldo is a better player. I agree with bullie, he's far more complete than other attackers around now. Take Messi for example, What Messi does is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but he's one footed and the vast majority of his goals all come from the same move. He'll cut in from the wing, play the ball forward, keep running in, receive it back and shoot or if there's space he'll run into it and shoot. Messi has mastered this attacking triangle move, and his footwork is amazing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way slighting Messi, I'd love him at Old Trafford. But Ronaldo is a threat in so many more ways, he takes better free kicks, penalties, better with his weaker foot, more physcial, eqaully adept on either wing or through the middle. Athough you may be able to pick single players who are better than Ronaldo in one specific thing ie Messi is a better dribbler (of the ball), Ronaldo is the complete attacking player in my opinion and on top of that he's proved he can play at that level in more than one team. So many times you see a player who fitted into a specific team really well, move on and flop. In terms of who's more likable, well that's got to be Messi, hands down. Ronaldos problem is his ego, if it was a land mass it'd probably be larger than the moon. But he is an amazingly talented footballer and for all his faults you can pick about him as a person I'm just happy I've seen him play live because that's what football is about.

I agree... although in terms of performance at this year's WC, Messi wins hands-down... Ronaldo translated his amazing skill into a big fat nothing, whereas Messi has carried Argentina and created so many chances - it's a wonder he hasn't scored yet himself. The WC aside though, Ronaldo is a class act. It is a bit of a shame that he is so supremely arrogant, but then again, that is probably part of the reason he has become so good.

This is from a portuguese sports newspaper, from today's edition, and I clearly support this opinion:

Our own Domenech

The opinion is not (only) mine. Neither only of alleged personal enemies of the national team's coach. Its, for example, of more than 20 thousand users of Record Online which yesterday have answered to the simple enquiry: Should Carlos Queiroz continue in charge of the National Team? 85% said no. It's obvious he must not. As it is obvious that he will, in a Country of mild behaviour and little demand, where it is allowed that the National Coach say that the World Cup's career was positive and that Portugal has made an excellent exhibition against Spain. The same man that when Scolari reached a Euro Cup final and a World Cup semi-final had diminuished their value saying that Portugal "should've won". The same man that almost let Portugal hanging at South Africa's door and leaves from there with one win, two draws and one defeat.
More serious in the portuguese performance in the World Cup it is a hand-full of questions that remained unanswered e for which only the faithful Queiroz assistants have the answer.
How it is possible to not be ashamed and speak of the refereeing against Spain in a match on which we were dominated and our best goal opportunity was created by Puyol? 24 hours after the defeat?
What happened with Nani? A not well-told story which something was covered up or just a disaster in the communication which led to a number of misunderstandings and even forced Luís Horta (head of the Portuguese Anti-Doping Analysis Center) to step up and deny the existence of a doping situation in the National Team?
The episode with Deco. If there was not a pardon to the brasilian, what was he doing still in South Africa? If there was, and if the idea was winning against Spain, how come he remained in the bench and Pedro Mendes entered? Deco didn't deserved it. And neither did we.
I hear in TV and I don't believe it. The coach says that Portugal has today consolidated options for the goal, for left-wing back e right-wing back. Sorry? Goal and left-wing back, ok. On the right-back? He took Paulo Ferreira and Miguel and the one who played most was Ricardo Costa. In 4 games he used 3 players. What consolidated option? The one who did harmed us so much against Spain and Del Bosque said thanks?
How can we understand the war between Cristiano Ronaldo, the team's flagship, and the coach? How to understand, that after a great season in Madrid, CR7, do so little in the portuguese team? Is he tired of being alone in the front? How can the captain speak in such terms about the leader? As a reader yesterday wroted, Queiroz was able to transform the world's best in the worst portuguese.
And the constant whinning regarding the yellow cards of the spaniards, the south american referees and yesterday even about the lack of a pitch for the national team trainning... in Portugal - we already have few stadiums "left for flies" (empty), let us build another one at the expenses of the tax payers...
The more serious, after all this, is that Portugal had stop playing for the win. And that hurts even more after what we have saw in 2004, 2006 and 2008, but also with Humberto Coelho (Euro 2000) and António Oliveira (Euro 1996) in previous competitions. The truth is that, except for the North Korea match, Portugal hadn't play at all in this World Cup. How do I miss the defeat against Germany by 3-2 in Euro 2008. And the divorce of the Country with Queiroz's team is almost total. The FPF (Portuguese Football Association) will suffer, the portuguese football will suffer we, the ones who like football, will suffer.

@Horde & Manu I really don't have no comments on trying to defend the indefensible:tdown: :odd:...it probably has something to do with the way that people are brought up...:indiff:

Only @ Manu I really can't understand why you insist in writing French sentences(surpassing the profanity filter)in a English based site...

Ronaldo is an outlier, he's better than most of the players who emerged in the last ten years, Messi got more talent, more compromise but Ronaldo is more complete in many aspects. I would point out Ronaldinho in his epic times on Barcelona, but he wasn't teamwork focused as Messi, netiher complete as Ronaldo.

So my conclusion of who's better....is Ronaldo, but if I were president of a rich team, I would buy Messi instead.

Maybe because it's an international forum. My sentence is not very difficult to understand.

"Merci Zizou pour avoir eu le courage de faire taire cette saloperie de materazzi."
"Zidane thank you for having the courage to silence this ........ materazzi."

The rule is clear - post in English only.

Also, profane or otherwise, this type of comment is not acceptable. Please keep your posts polite and civil in future.

Thank you horde_r35 for your feeling.

Hey! A Dutchmen! ;) This guy's been around for a while and everyone knows him here in Holland. Very good at what he does.

Well... at least this one stick to the women and didn't go for travestis

Well, I wouldn't affirm that, since he never gave any info on his personal life.

Ronaldo ( the fatter...), claimed he didn't know that "she" wasn't a woman, but he allowed "her" to call two more "friends"...so he didn't convince anyone.

Because Dunga didn't want him in it. I watched him live at Old Trafford against united in the champions league and he's still got great technical ability but all his pace has gone. He might have felt that he'd have slowed down Brazil's attack too much, other than that I don't really know what it could have been. Personally I'd have had him even with his lack of pace, he's at the very least still a good option to bring off the bench.

Brazil will use its blue uniform tomorrow. I don't like the new one, it's filled with yellow dots. But it did bring us luck against Holland before...

He's also known for his extreme partying and because he stirs turmoil within the players. Remember the 'crisis' that went on in Barcelona a couple fo years back that ended with Rijkaard fired? Later replaced by Pep Guardiola, and the first thing he did was get rid of Ronaldinho and later of Eto'o, since they were best buddies and he also stirred crap around the players.

My guess is that Dunga was looking to make sure the team could focus more on playing football and be more united.

Oh thank you.
It's a pity to dont see him. I m not fan but he was good and have some nice skill.

Am allready nervous for the game today lads...:nervous:

But i have a positive feeling anyways..:)

I think/hope Holland will beat Brasil today with 3-1....:dopey:

Robben will score twice and Sneijder the other one!!!

Fingers crossed !!

spy.

Now there's one of those players that shoot freekick's with a power Cristiano Ronaldo can only dream of...

Branco! What a defender back in the early 90's. He played for quite some years in Portugal, at FC Porto. His shooting power was terrible. Next to Ronald Koeman and Roberto Carlos, he had the most powerful shoot.

, Holland is more offensive and hence will gather most of the fans, but the game will be totally open, I wouldn't dare to make a guess, but 3x2 seems reasonable for both sides.

You guys are lucky, many absences on our midfield so Kaká must finally shine is this cup, otherwise chances are significantly smaller. :nervous:
