I hope to see the same Portugal line up that started against North Korea and agreeing with Kubalivre, with Hugo Almeida between Simão and C. Ronaldo. And a pity Nani got injured right before the cup started, because I much rather see Nani playing in the National Team than C. Ronaldo.
I also rather see Tiago playing than Deco. I feel Deco had his time in 2004 - 2006. Now, he lost just lost his magic, IMO.
As for Hugo Almeida I honestly don't think he is the right player to start the match. Although is presence most of the time in the penalty area might (in theory) prevent one (or both) central defenders from moving up in the pitch, he's solely advantage towards Liedson is his size. He's slower, less skilled as a player and it isn't as lethal as Liedson is. He might definetively be very handy on a draw or loose situation in second time *knocks on wood*, where in such scenario we shall preferably look for high balls to the box. Onthe other hand Liedson's typical way of playing, with constant movements, aggressiveness, always looking and pushing the opponents for their mistakes might become very handy and, I'm confident, will keep both centre-defenders busy enough.
Cristiano Ronaldo his, arguably, one of the top three players in the world. And compared to the other two, he is in my personal opinion, the most complete in every aspects. I dare to say more:
No other player in the world have ever yet managed to join in such high levels the speed, skill, fitness, heading, stamina, shooting ability as him.
Yes you can easily name a few players that are at least as skillful (and more) than he is. Or players that have a greater shooting power and accuracy. Or even speed. But none has gathered all these aspects as he does. He has a problem although. And that problem is the same as Ibrahimovic, or Etoo, or Drogba, so on can also complaint of. He unbalaces his national squad team because he is in such a higher level than the others. And everybody expects him to carry the whole team on his back. He is expected to play to himself, and to the team. He is the same player that scores 40+ plus in Manchester United. He is the same player that practically carried Real Madrid on his back in the first year there and still managed to be 2nd best scorer of the team with 20+ goals, and he isnt even a striker.
The thing is you are one thing when you play with Rooney, Scholes, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Van der Sar, or Raul, Higuaín, Diarra, Kaka. Other is played with Simão, a (shadow of) Deco, Duda, and so on. Look at Messi. It's hard to tell if he is in better company with Ibrahimovic and Henry or with Higuaín and Tevez...
I also pity Nani's injury, because he was in one hell of a moment and would be undoubtly the company of Ronaldo and Liedson/Almeida in front.
As for Deco, he is far, very far, from the magnificent midfielder he was in 2003-2007 (more or less). And the problem is that after Rui Costa and him, there isn't no one seemingly likely to be able to replace him properly (there's one that might, if he wasn't been "spoiled" in his team playing in every possible position but that as a '10': João Moutinho).
