Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Are these quick matches still being updated ? It's still the Classic Prototype le mans , Modern prototype Le mans , GT3 nurburgring , DTM Red bull ring and Rally right ? If so when do they update?

There doesn't seem to be a set schedule for them other than loose ties to whatever FIA race is going on at the time.

Hopefully with Le Mans and the Austrian GP out of the way, there'll be something new coming along soon.

I wish. They're anything from a week to a couple of months before they get changed.

Looking back through this thread, I think the current crop turned up on the 19th May.

The Ferrari race isn't too bad being a one make (458) but the car under steers quite bad. Fun when you get a bit of heat in the tires though.

The GT500's on Midfield reverse was more fun for me. Turn one over the crest is...interesting. The first time I took it, I found out being airborne is highly detrimental to steering and every lap after that saw me taking it way too quickly. More like controlled crashing.:D

Had a bunch of excellent races in the Touring cars at Rome last night.
Full fields of cars with 90% clean drivers.
And when I say clean, I mean BTCC type clean. A bit of rubbing and using your elbows, but no-one just smashing their way through.

I had a go at this race tonight, and it turned out I was the quickest in the room, but even though I won the race(s) I only got paid for 2nd place and the results page looks messed up?! Not sure what happened but has this happened to anyone else?

Too many times. It's a bug that's been around since the beginning of the quick matches and often comes with spaced grids as a warning that it might happen.

It sometimes fixes itself over a few races or you could short cut it and find another race.

Ok I have never experienced that before it was a little disconcerting... I did switch rooms and everything went back to normal - even people deliberately blocking and trying to hit me into the walls, same old QM mentality. I didn't have the same luck you did @Robbks with gentleman racers....

First time on QM for a while.
5 or 6 enjoyable races, at Rome once your eyes get used to crazy zigzagging cars in front and behind.
15 sec penalty for collision with the pile of cars in front who had spun and they race off and only lose by 15.3 secs.
Still had good time so will be back more often

The Ferrari race is fantastic. Get the front tires to bite on entry and you can control rotation with the throttle, otherwise it does understeer. The track is long, with many passing opportunities. An excellent test of skill!

I couldn't get into the Ferrari race all last night. Constant NAT type errors and failed matches. It's a great race if you can avoid the numpties though.

Still hammering the Midfield race myself. A good and intense sprint if you can find a race with similar skill drivers.

I love the touring cars but I'm not too keen on Rome. Not enough corners but at least there's no short cuts.

Won my first QM at Rome in CLK time 3.36.
1st on grid stay ahead of the pack.
Usual penalties for being rammed!
What's with the glitch when the dude stays on start finish line the whole race and then gets placed 2nd on finish board

Just a server bug but it doesn't happen very often. They ran the race but the connection wasn't the best (yours or theirs) and you didn't see them in the race. You'll often see cars drive straight through them without slowing down because they're only showing on your screen but I can't remember if they're physically there for you. I always avoid them (obviously) but I wonder if it's possible to crash into them? I'll have to give it a try.:P

I like the Rome event a lot. There's no where to cheat. The cars are very closely matched but still have a personality of their own. I think the A4 is the sleeper.
A4 is definitely the sleeper, but the M3 has more "feel" to me.
But the A4 has some horrible audio too.

SOme more great races last night, a good group of 8-10 drivers for almost an hour.

The black flags worked against me in a couple of races,
Battling for 1st place, I had a big tank-slapper slide through the second right hander, managed to gather it up, at the same time the 3rd placed car slid up the outside into the space I needed to collect it.
Apparently using the rear end of my car to enter his front door was deemed my fault and slapped me with a 6 sec penalty

Let the car slide if it wants and the heat in the tires gives you the rotation you need.

I had a couple of hours running that race last night and it was seriously entertaining 4 wheel drifting the corners while the majority of drivers were struggling to control their under steer. Had a couple of 1.59s so I'm only losing a couple of seconds driving like a hooligan. I kept feeling sorry for the people I passed due to the excessive tire smoke though. It looked like hard work with all the days of thunder corners I kept throwing at them.

I did resort to driving it like an idiot just to maintain momentum.
What tyres have they fitted? CH on the front and RS on the rear

Just ran a series of great races in the GT500 event.

Some great driving all round, although I did take the last 2 wins before I had to stop... :)

it's weird, they slide around a little on corner entry, feel really planted through the middle of the corner, and the break away when they get speed up.
It's like the Aero is working backwards. I just upshift early on corner exit or hold a gear higher. the otehr drivers were sliding all over the place, so it was a faster way to drive anyway

I've also noticed a sort of grip bug or something in the Ferrari room. Maybe its the fast room bug that was present in the Autumn Ring QM last year. The first time in the room I won almost every race for an hour or so, and was getting consistent 2:00 lap times with at least a half dozen into the 1:59's. I quit because it got boring. The subsequent 3 times I've been in there, I cannot for the life of me get below 2:03 consistently. My absolute fastest lap has been a low 2:01. No way am I two or three seconds slower now.

I was in a room with someone from Japan running 1:56.xxx laps last night. Maybe I need to try a more drift-heavy technique as I'm around 2:00-2:01. I'm not sure if there is a grip issue, but it certainly felt as if braking into turn 1 was a crapshoot-braking at the same point (no drafting down the main straight) produced vastly different results lap-to-lap, depending on traffic.

I was wondering if SRF can be enabled in this race by turning it on in arcade mode (like with some previous QM races). If that's the case, I'm done with the event, it's too much of an advantage and I'm not a fan of using it.

It (SRF) can be turned on for all of the quick matches and unless the Japanese guy was an alien skill driver, that's an SRF time. I set up a spare account with SRF turned on to see what the SRFers lap times were and 1.56 wasn't too hard to run. 1.58 without SRF. Mid 03's for Midfield with SRF on and 1.04.7-1.05 without. I haven't tested the touring cars with it turned on so can't say what the lap times are.

It's kind of funny (in a tragic way) when I come up against some of the regulars I normally have close races with who magically start to gap me the following night. I just leave. I can't compete against SRF.

Oh, maybe that's my problem. I have two accounts, so I bet that one of them has SRF is turned on. I know you can turn it off in driving options before a carreer mode race, but do I just go into arcade mode and disable it, and it will turn it off in the QM?
