Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Snip: but the cheats found a glitch, shared it on the Planet and wha lah,,
This is quite a long way off from what really happened, in fact pretty well opposite. It wasn't the cheats that found out and shared, it was people dead set against the illegal use of SRF that were frustrated into revealing it because PD were doing nothing about it, after it had been reported and been proven that it could be an intentional and repeatable bug. It was a case of transparency for all in an attempt to get this SRF bug removed. At least with it out in the open no one is left questioning their pace against the blatant SRF cheats.

If you cast your mind back Daduce, it was FPV MIC who discovered how the bug worked and the only reason he looked for it was because a lot of people were seeing their SRF turned on in SRF off events. With us having it turned off all the time, especially in career mode, we had to find out how they were getting the advantage over us.

With me making it public knowledge, FPV MIC has got it in a nutshell. It was never my intent to make the problem worse as I'd be making a rod for my own (and yours) back, with crap racing but in my opinion, the bug being made public improved things. People know (mostly) what to look for now so it's good info. You'd have to be pretty low to resort to using it competitively when so many people now know about it.

@bone_tone

Been in a race tonight and experienced the weird grip issue. I actually thought my driving was rubbish tonight, with too many slides but then @coryclifford came in saying the room was messed up... hmm.. I asked if it was bad grip and he said yes.💡

Weirdest sensation. I'd be cruising round a corner and get a random little slide from the rear for no real reason and a couple of times at The Chase, I'd have the line all to myself and an easy corner but find myself sliding way closer to the outside curb than normal. Next lap, everything perfect again, lap after, all over the place again and any bumps usually turned out catastrophic as it felt like I had sports tires on instead. The tires took twice as long to cool back down too. The bugger had me 2nd guessing every line.

I found there was terrible lag with lag spikes being very bad on the 2nd lap especially. If you're digtater, in my rear view mirror you did quite a nice "dolphin dive" right over a car on Conrad. But I agree with the on/off grip thing depending on the lap. My tune is pretty solid, and with coming up on 5,200 kms experience with that car, it was throwing me for a loop. Could've sworn EeePee (Cory) was there too. A Frenchman pulled off a low 2:08 first lap  with a dirty nascar style Yankee happy to put me and others into any wall he could find. Terrible outing tonight.

Cheers

Differing grip levels has been around for a long time, even added grip. The post below was from April 2016 in the GT3 at Bathurst QM.
Thank you very much, and yes indeed there have been many strange occurrences in QM. While running the recent Bathurst QM I was getting different grip levels during a race. It seemed like my connection stuttered (like someone had connected or disconnected), then all of a sudden I had massive grip over the top of the mountain(the only time I ran a 2:01xx), it stuttered again going up mountain straight and then was back to normal. Hero to zero in two laps:lol:.

I've been running flat 5's with a few 4's all week, but tonight, it was everywhere from low 5's up to 7's. No consistency at all.

It's good that I've finally seen and felt it though. It means I've finally got an excuse for whenever I'm struggling.

Ah, so you've finally experienced it! Quite disconcerting isn't it, as you think you've suddenly forgotten how to drive

but why?
why do they keep srf? why there are sudden, non obvious grip change?
let's take energy that we put in messaging srfers and try to get this forums point of view to Polyphony Digital.
a lot of people, who put a lot of time in the game, feel the same way.

Might as well piss into the wind DM. Too late, but have some fun with the wee tadgers while you can. Captain Noobs Use SRF has been seen in ALL the QMs this past night reminding them there just useless moving bollards. Who was that masked man?

What's been going on there, what are you talking about  ?

So I guess it's been the same experience for all of us yesterday : Bad internet, ongoing change of grip conditions, an armada of SRFers, disconnects, waiting ...
We could have filled one room again but I only raced two of you guys :(.

Starting at Monaco I had three runs with @BALDY500, trying to improve my tailgating skills ( can you hear me @coryclifford :D ) and ending up with the funniest comment ( by Baldy ) I heard in a long time rofl. Was glad to hear that EeePee took my part after I had left the room for Bathurst.
I think I saw at least four of you on that first grid list, but got dc'd during warmup ...
which was a pity 'cos V666 ( Hi Vanessa, pink cars fit you better than white ones 👍 ) already waited for me in the next room. Decided to switch to cruise mode, let her go and race midpack.
Finally met @Nonno Calvy for two fine races at the end of the day. Got second to him in the first and been pushed to a new PB racetime in the second ( thanks Nonno / it's been a low 18 @kilesa4568 ;) ). Could have been much better though if I hadn't messed up too many corners on the second and third lap. 6.17 I'm more than ready for you !

Me playing silly buggers with a comedy account. Noobs_Use_SRF. Made a new account yesterday & showed up in the 4 QMs & ran at the back of the pack if I could which was harder than I expected. Not trying to ruin anyone's race but just so the SRF folks would see the name & know their cards were marked.

First race a Bathurst got two messages before the race even started. From good folks. All in good fun & taking the piss out of the SRF mob. Might as well eh?

You've got your alternative user name set up then?

Any responses in the races?

Edit: ah, just seen response above

Great idea ! Already thinking about it  !

I joined in the Tokyo QM at one point & before the race had started I was on my own.:lol::lol: They all bailed out.

Unbelievable !

Might as well eh?

Going home then :D !

You can not imagine what you missed, mate :lol::lol:. @Mwerte and @mirial were in great shape, even they were some rude opponents ! 5:20, 5:18 at Bathurst on ice

Looking for you in other rooms, I came across a famous knucklehead (). He was trying to run away when he saw me making a U-turn (typical in Australia) to get him one good slap. Even that he can not do. I saw his cascade of loss of control and accidents. I laughed almost all night.

It s Yves..... sorry i didnt notice that before

Back when GT5 Prologue was out, the online setup was very much like the current Quick Matches. Like minded racers were able to race in the same rooms together by hitting start at a specific time-we would just coordinate in a thread here at GTP. It worked well. Anyone tried this for the GT6 QM's?

If I managed to get a bit of space, the grip seemed to come back a bit but as soon as I got near someone again, totally unpredictable. Getting pushed onto the grass then back to the track really seemed to trip it out as my tires were glowing from no grip. I couldn't even drive in a straight line!

Grid starts were entertaining with it though. On one start, I got squeezed by someone who made a lightning start and scraped down the side of me. That was enough to put me into a full spin and having to 3 point the car. Madness!:scared:

pushed to a new PB racetime in the second ( thanks Nonno / it's been a low 18 @kilesa4568 ;)

Great time mate but did you really need to include the "salt in the wound" smilies?:grumpy::lol:

I'll see if I can get a better race (bad workman blaming his tools...) tonight and see what I can do. Last night was a travesty for any sort of times.

You had me laughing as soon as I saw it, then laughing harder when I imagined the occasional SRF users quickly double checking for it.:D

Planning on another good (hopefully...) Bathurst session tonight and will be on around 9pm GMT.👍

No, but there was one room at the last QM at Tsukuba, where 4 Japanese guys all turned up at the same time, in identical white Civics - then proceeded to try and disrupt everybody else's race.

Don't know whether it was just luck, or managed in some other way.

If you look in the Open Lobby "menu", all the QM's are listed there as well, just without room names as needed when you create a lobby. I've never tried it myself, but if you search by friend, you will see the "room" they're in and it maybe be possible to join that way. Could that be the trick?

Cheers

You can see them, but you can't join from there unfortunately.

Updated setup, more stable yet it still points into the corners with consistent mild understeer. It can be made a bit faster, but everything just happens too fast here, so playing it safe. Very good up the hill to split 2, but can't quite take it flat.

PB in a good room is 4.1.
