! ...Left my office two hours earlier yesterday to get my new GT6 online pass right in time for the QM night shift.
Hadn't started a game from scratch in a while so I got reminded again how easy GT6 actually is. Ridiculous !
Imagine ... even without any experience in virtual driving / racing you should be able to unlock the online section
within one day. And all it takes is a 350PP stock Honda FIT - from FIT to FGT within no time
!Could this be one reason for some of our complaints ?
And was it coincidence what happened 15 min later at Tokyo R246 ? Needed credits for the Roadster and the Megane
and entered the FGT event ( for the first time ). With @Rizla 's approach in mind to just be present for that online ID,
I got placed P1 in the first race, decided to start as fast as possible to just avoid havoc and let them pass on the backstraight ...
but no one could follow
... and a guy like me who had hardly ever driven the FGT would lap two opponents in the second racewith my inept driving. Couldn't believe it.
As for reactions from other drivers I didn't get any messages, but many left rooms ( also been at Monaco and Bathurst later )
instantly and some of them were known SRF regulars
!GT6 is at the end of its lifecycle so I think of having some more special fun for the remaining weeks and stick with this
account - just saying guys. And btw I had a dream ... of a whole heck of a heap :-) of funsters out there. Period.
_________________________________________________________________________________________Does anyone of you know the SRF margin for the Megane ? For the Roadster it's about 2 sec per lap, 7 sec per race.

Depends how fast you normally are in the Megane! Fastest time I have seen is 2:02.xxx lap, 6:12 race time.

It's second time RocketJoe gives us reassuring news about GTS. Have someone here tested the next GTS ? I mean a true beta test. I just touched it in mars during the Geneva Motor show, but it's not relevant.
I'm waiting (preorder done), like some of you, a lot in playability with that new title. Any comment about this ?

What's worrying me about GTS...will the quick matches be included? They're the only reason I'm still playing GT6.
I looked at the console prices with the first GTS date but didn't buy one as the game got pushed back. Now I've got it into my head to wait and see what happens after the launch and if there'll be racing I'm interested in. If there's no quick match of any sort, I'm not sure if I'll be buying it.

Ummm. Who did you identify exactly? & hello again.
With the first release date for GTS I went out and got a PS4.
When they cancelled the release I went and got project cars and assetto corsa and liked both of them.
I have Project Car 2 on preorder first day edition and don't plan right now to buy GTS
Like you I'm on gt6 for the qm races and the geezer club, when they shut it all down online I guess I will be done with the GT series.

I don't think there'll be QM's as we know them. From what I've seen there'll be a similar section of racing, but there'll be much more advanced matchmaking with qualifying sessions. The ratings system should keep the racing much more evenly matched and separate everyone according to speed, skill and race-craft. I'm going to have to create another account just to see what happens in the low level dirty driver rooms. I picture half the field stopped on a blind turn waiting for someone to come round the corner, and the other half driving round the track backwards
Edit: Thinking about it, the numpty's might get that bored not being able to annoy others that they may actually have to race properly. There'll still be those that ''game'' the system but hopefully not too many.

The matchmaking will work well for some closer racing but I'll miss the randomness of how they are now. Not knowing what sort of race you're going to get has always had me coming back for more.
I think the whole idea of them was to whet peoples appetites for online racing but I think they're strong enough on their own to keep them in.

Hopefully they'll include some random races as well as the more formal ones. Although it will be good to have fairly guaranteed evenly matched races I'd miss the nutters.

I'm not into GT since the original game, I've started with GT4, so there's not too much experience here in moving from one iteration to the next. But it's been quite the same both times. There's always been things I loved and things I hated, so me I was hoping for the good to remain and the bad to improve. And it's been different to what I'd expected both times ! I didn't like neither 5 nor 6 at the beginning, but both became great games with getting deeper into them.
QM is the big thing atm for me too, so I sit here with my GTS Edition preordered and some well known expectations and I'm looking forward to it 'mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge' as we say in Germany ( if you need a translation tell me and I will do my best ).
As for the PS4 I didn't need no excuse with two kids who are into gaming and still with their dad on a regular base.
So here I am ... hoping for the best
!

That's it. Even though the closer racing will be great, I'm worried it could become a bit sterile compared to what I'm used to.

The matchmaking is based on etiquette and pace from what I've read so a second account wouldn't work unless it was brand new. The matchmaking would soon take over and take me away from those lower classes again, unless I started to drive the same way as them but that's never going to happen. I just enjoy the challenge of racing against them. They're great for spacial awareness.
The more I think about the matchmaking, the more I think it could end up being a limiting factor. Say you have a top rating for etiquette, would you still risk going for gaps you'd normally go for?

You're right about us being in the dark with the rating system. Logging our pace is brilliant idea but it's a dark art deciding who's at fault for whatever happens out on track. Especially if it's based on some PD algorithm as we all know how bad the penalty system is now...
No doubt I'll jump on the game (I need a PS4 anyway) eventually but I'll wait a few weeks to be sure. Maybe try out a few other top driving games for an apple to apple comparison.
