Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Good morning guys, sometimes I'm lucky to meet some of you in the QM and learn something ... although I have the impression that you go slower to please me!
Only Rocket did his PB, but it's fake, I was blowing strong from behind !! :D
I could improve a few tenths of a lap but my car is less accurate than your curves, tending to lose the back. But it is more likely that my wooden feet will have a bad accelerator and brake ... :ill:

Yet to try it out on the base model but I found myself trying to learn my tricky 15th AE car (and failing) when I saw this tune. It transformed the car's handling so I can drive it again now. Very safe low 5's in it so cheers for that.👍

Good stuff. I made it potentially 2-3 tenths faster, but it's just too difficult to bring off on this track....that damn chicane, no matter how much you try and prepare ahead for it, it always catches you out! So can't give the SRFers who don't need it a run for their money, maybe somewhere else like Laguna, Trial Mountain or Deep Forest perhaps.

What tracks do they typically use for the Megane QM races?

1. There' s no typical track I think, it's all random. Last track was Brands.

2. Yes, you can't ... sometimes.

I'm sure there are way more SRFers out there than you'd think.
SRF will give you about 2 sec per lap here.
You will still beat the slower drivers, an ok driver will be on par with you ( and spoil your race  ),
but you'll never keep up with a decent driver on SRF, sadly.
And I haven't mentioned the really fast ones :banghead: !

Oh, btw ...

3. It was your idea, so what about 'fun account' No.3 :D ?

I tried it out on the base model at last but after about 1500 miles in Kim's tune, I found I had to change style to try and keep the speed up. It had more grip but with the transition to a softer set up, I was scrubbing more speed off than normal and I'd lost the small lift off over steer that I like on some corners. I'm going to try it with rigidity installed (same as AE) tonight to see if it takes some of the roll away.

If I'm honest though, I'm not the best tune reviewer with me using stick and auto and generally over driving. It's likely better than what I'm using now but my driving isn't precise enough to make the most of it.

...and believe it or not, I haven't met any obvious surfers (easier to type than SRFers) yet. I've seen the regular surfers in races when I've joined but I don't give them the time of day and leave before racing them. Abstention>frustration.

The only people I've raced who've really pushed me so far are in this forum thread.👍

I thought about doing a phony anti SRF account but figured my Digtater account was good enough. If they've ever raced with SRF against me, they'll remember my messages about it...:D

Definitely, OK drivers are very aggressive, like the typical guy you would get into a nasty piece of road rage with over something minor and they want to kill you!

It was half a joke to begin with! Having read some more horror stories in the past few days, maybe it would be best to delete all references on your reply to me on page 82. A neurotic world starts to rub off

I couldn't think of anything else that would be easily interpreted by other nationalities, considering that this is an area where men pride themselves and from what I've seen, the faster females are using SRF to try and keep up.

I'll maybe consider another name if they begin to annoy me again, if I can be bothered, if it's having an effect (@Rizla could give feedback), and I'm powerless to get back at them :)

You're right about us being in the dark with the rating system. Logging our pace is brilliant idea but it's a dark art deciding who's at fault for whatever happens out on track. Especially if it's based on some PD algorithm as we all know how bad the penalty system is now...

No doubt I'll jump on the game (I need a PS4 anyway) eventually but I'll wait a few weeks to be sure. Maybe try out a few other top driving games for an apple to apple comparison.
I guess this video show importants points about if u buy the next tome or wait to see
For me i was hooked once i see the night onboard

I've been avidly following GTS's development and features and it does look good but I want to hear how well the matchmaking works and if it's a permanently on feature. Anyone know of a good forum for unbiased opinions...?

I'm guessing there'll have to be some sort of races that don't use match making though. I'm sure most of us have people on our friends list who are faster, slower or less capable than ourselves. Plenty (too many!) of people in this thread are quicker than me but when I get to race them, they help me pick my pace up. I really wouldn't want to lose out on that and thinking worst case scenario, it splits long time regular racers up.

For those of you who've preordered, get ready for my long lists of questions.:D

Age sometimes plays bad jokes, I had posted in Italian .... :ill:
I asked to compare with your own steering wheel. My is: simulation, no power steering, return force 8, return force sensitivity 2.....
..... I also had a call from Daan

Ah ok, thought of sth like that - I'm learning.

:embarrassed:
I just forget about racing last night.
Monaco : Four races without serious competition - 20 sec gap each race so it felt a bit strange in the end being that dominant under my fairplay ID
:boggled:
Bathurst : Four races, too tired, too hasty lacking of concentration for this event. For a couple of times 'sudden ice' occured which didn't help being confident, so I wasn't too much of a challenge for @kilesa4568 and @nordschleife51 who were in the same room. Felt some kind of solidarity with them like being members of a raceteam and when Digtater started from pole all I thought was "Come on m8 crack that French beside you before T1."
:)

I am. Are you aware of me probably lie to you if necessary ? I surely wouldn't want to miss anybody from here when battling into GT Sport.

Bathurst tonight, with @Mwerte @Nonno Calvy @StirlingMoose and hsh_ (I know he reads our posts, even if he doesn't contribute!).

Weird event though, when people in front of me kept swerving to the left on the start/finish straight, and occasionally going off. @StirlingMoose then told me that he kept hitting a car parked on the start line - for some reason I couldn't see it!!

It was there two races in a row, in the same spot - middle of the track, and not ghosted. I hit it twice and went off twice avoiding it. I really should have learnt by the fourth time. If other people were swerving at least I wasn't imagining it. I don't know if it was because it was obscured by cars in front but I never spotted it until it was too late.
After I got disconnected I spent about 20 mins trying in vain to get back in. Eventually got into a much better room (i.e. one where I at least stood a chance of winning ;)), where I was joined by @Daduce1947 - Did you notice any lag? At one point on the start-finish straight you went warp-speed about 500 yards then disappeared and reappeared, stationary and luckily ghosted, right in front of me.

How about this for a close one

You mean the girl "in the" Van??? ;) Yeah, that would be fair to say... pretty sure "she" uses SRF too. I saw her pull off a 2:04.2xx at Bathurst today. Doubt it would be possible without it, otherwise she'd be very well known on the Super Laps as well.

Cheers
Oh crap. I know who you mean. At the Monaco Roadster event, she pulled a 5.15 race time. It was the one time I tested out the SRF cheat to see how much faster people van be with it on. Maybe the third race, I ran into her and realized I needed to win for all the good people out there who race clean. Closer to the end of the race, they started driving dirty, probably because they couldn't shake me.

I sent them a message simply asking why they were cheating using SRF. I had to ask it in French since they said, "Francois??" Or something like that. Used Google translate to ask why they were cheating and received a filthy message telling me off. There were a few nasty words. And they ended it by saying what an adult child would say, "what are you? Police?"

They quit the race and left the room. I'm pretty sure they're on my block list, but that doesn't keep peepee from showing up in the same room. Vanessa. . . is the name of a former acquaintance.

EDITED for accuracy!

I had the misfortune to be in a room with her yesterday, and she was suffering from a big dose of lag! She hit me hard from behind on the long downhill straight, which meant that I reached the chicane doing 10mph faster than normal....

Needless to say, this was all my fault in her mind, so I then suffered a lap of brake checking and ramming before leaving the room.

Speaking about next GT .... playing online in 4k will need more broadband ??? Or same u need for a normal ps4 ???

What a great forum this is - such friendly, supportive commentary from everyone.

I must admit when I first used to access the site, I was a bit taken aback with some of the nasty comments and finger pointing that went on - all of that seems to have gone away, thank goodness (apart from the anti-SRF user stuff of course ;))

Looking forward to continuing the trend when we're all on GTSport!

Not sure, bit technical for me - depends on whether more data is being exchanged with the servers I suspect?

Something is seriously wrong with them.

Sorry for the late reply. Been in bed since then.:ill:

That French...person...has the new record for messages sent in the shortest amount of time. One every few seconds accusing me of cheating. He left as soon as I blocked him messaging me and was likely just looking for a reaction. Kids huh?

I'm still grinning at one of the races we had the night (or maybe two nights...) before where neither one of us wanted first place and crawled to the line. I usually mess those up and cross the line 1st so it was cool to see you win by .001 of a second.

Same for me Kilesa4568. You MUST be with us on GTS Premiere, no alternative ! :D

I love racing you lot so I'll be getting the game sooner or later but I've got a horrible feeling there'll be nothing like quick matches in them. I could squeeze out a bit more life from GT6 if there isn't. If there is, I'd better hurry up and buy a PS4.

No. Textures are on your side (drawn locally on your PS4) so they don't need to be sent/recieved. A few KB/s is all that's needed, just like it is now.

If I remember right, I think there was talk about dedicated servers for organized races so a good ping would be good for those. Still the same small amount of data sent/received though.

Great photos of the flying Megane - what a glitch.
I remember a guy who seemed to be a specialist here ( even had it in his name ). I've never seen him on track but waiting on top of some rock instead at Autumn Ring and Trial Mountain.

Knew that, telepathy.

Yeah, I messed it up ( this time :irked: ). The moment I discovered my sideview button it was too late. You should have been awarded a special trophy "Get second by a thousand of a second."

Haven't been engaged in racing for two days now but no worries guys, with my two boys turning my flat into some irl CoD stage I was quite busy anyway ... and I still am :irked::grumpy::mad::banghead: !

There's a nice thread by @kalakanto in the GTS section 'bout everybody's age, got a bit silent there so if anybody wants to come out ... :) ...
