Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Tried to run with @Mwerte but couldn't keep my eyes open. It's only 3 in the afternoon! Need a nap and then a 40th birthday party. I'm going to be that guy that shows for an hour.
Hey, you have to keep your eyes open to run with @Mwerte!

Had the pleasure of the company of @Nonno Calvy, @Baron Blitz Red , @lasrjock this evening, and then I noticed @StirlingMoose joined the room just as I left.

It's odd, because a couple of months ago I said that I never came across any GTPers in QMs, now I'm rarely in a room without at least one 👍

I had a couple good races with @StirlingMoose but then my coordination got bad (low blood sugar) so I left before causing accidents. I almost got to race with @Baron Blitz Red (twice) but I kept losing connection.

Saw all that were mentioned as well, but...

THIS... I was having some bad connection issues as well, but for two races with @bone_tone I had a stable(ish) connection which helped to provide a rather clean set of races. Calvy, Lasr and Moose kept popping in and out of the list, but didn't get the proper connection, as they disappeared before the race actually started.

It is nice to see well known GTP people, but as I mentioned to BT, I'll be investigating either him or my pit crew he obviously bribed for installing powerful magnets on my car... no matter what I did, he stuck to me like glue!!! :sly:

Cheers

I wonder how many races are going on at once and how the matching is done. Is it completely random? It's rare these days that I get in a room without at least one of my friends from here and a few other names I recognise. Although a couple of days ago I did get in a full room of complete unknowns- Where did this lot come from? It's good to be in a race where you can trust everyone though. Had a race tonight where 7 cars went into turn 1, and 7 cars came out of turn 1, all pointing the right direction and with no contact.

If you're that fast when your coordination is bad..

That was the first time we've met in a QM, right? Or maybe once before. Nearly got to race @Baron Blitz Red for the first time as well. When you left the cruel one went too and was replaced by the *German blonde lady, who seemed to be very fast and clean.

*German/Belgian? I don't want to get into trouble.

Got into the QM scene late....Im surprised by how bad I am. Unless my car tune is terrible, Im losing 10 seconds a lap to the leader, and dont know where im losing it. Really need work on my technique....

If the stripes are standing up, it's Belgian... if the stripes are lying down on their side, it's German. ;) Would've been nice to race you as well... been ages since the AI Hub days!

Cheers

I will remember that forever now. Belgians standing up, Germans lying down. The room was glitched when I entered - the timer reset and someone else had control of my car so I got out as soon as I could. Shame we couldn't have got to race. Rumour has it that the photon-rider has returned. We're getting the band back together.

It was only that last race when it started to go. I did manage to get a personnel best earlier at 6:23.xxx (edited for the correct time). I also think that that was the first time that we have raced.

I wonder if the more frequent races against other GTPers is because there are fewer people racing and we seem to be the hold-outs.

I learnt from the master of sticking like glue, @coryclifford !

Having said that, sticking to the back's not a problem, getting past is.....

If it was the blonde lady, she's German. As you said, very fast and clean!

Good morning guys, it was a pleasure to run with you last night.
It is very challenging for me to run after dinner, but finding fast and very good drivers will repay you for the sacrifice.
In the rooms I came in, I found, besides you, all fast and correct drivers, a real pleasure.
Baron Blitz, I only saw you on the starting line then I do not remember well if you or I have disappeared.
Blonde Bombe, yes, it's fast and correct but I hope above all that it's a beautiful girl!

I hope above all that it's a beautiful girl!

The car colour, plus the choice of avatar I think are good indicators :)

On a lighter note, if they were beating us without SRF, certainly some of us might not like it. The aggressive driving is probably a way of trying to hide the guilt (reading some of the PMs that have been posted here) and I'm talking about the men as well. Jealousy and guilt go hand in hand - the jealousy of not being able to put in fast laps unaided, but the guilt of then beating everybody assisted, and feeling the need to hide it becomes very strong.

Even that's no guarantee.......

However, this lady is a particularly good racer, but I know she gets beaten up quite a bit on track - people probably confuse her with the 'girl with the van' !
My theory as always they re twins or same body.. different personality....... and that scary

She sounds ok, so long as she isn't neurotic about winning.

Talking of which, Vettel is a 🤬 neurotic ********. So childish and selfish, no need to move over like that in a race that was going to be so changeable. I thought he'd grown up as I was starting to get to like him.....

Who's your favorite driver ? Don't say 'Hamilton' now :odd: ...

Well, I like his driving style the most and he takes the rough with the smooth well, and he seems likeable. I suppose Fernando because he just gets on with it and Webber was a good guy too, who's rough tough Auzzie demeanour contrasted well with Seb's hysterical victory celebrations. I was starting to quite like Max, but I detect the neuroticism starting to kick in with wanting to rule the world.....jeez, things could be worse, you could (have been) be living in a wooden house in the Caribbean.

Used to like Montoya the best long before he reached F1. But he's Mr. Family Man now :( Was a fan of Schumacher's driving very much, but I didn't think he was fair, and I thought his driving at times was cowardly which detracted from his brilliance. Was always a fan of Mansell, because he was damn fast, brave (but threw away 2-3 titles in the best car), and he had a side-parting and a moustache which was so cool back in the 80s. Gilles Villenueuve was by far the fastest and fairest, which is why I liked Montoya. Jacques was too much into all these mind games to try and weaken vulnerable drivers 👎.

I was wondering the same thing the other week... it would make sense, as the numbers for the Super Laps have definitely taken a hit.

Having said that, sticking to the back's not a problem, getting past is.....

One of the two races I was watching you a little too much in my rear view mirror (a bad habit of mine) and missed my braking point on the chase by a fraction... I was sure that you were going to pounce on that mistake!

Baron Blitz, I only saw you on the starting line then I do not remember well if you or I have disappeared.

It could have been either of us that disappeared... that race I won by over 15 seconds, but when the payout screen showed up, the last place guy who didn't even finish did one of those "miracle" moves and beat us all... :odd: I really hope that gets fixed in GTSport.

On a lighter note, if they were beating us without SRF, certainly some of us might not like it.

Been thinking about that too tbh... I'm not one to think that everyone who beats me is using SRF. As one quote said, "If you think you've never been beaten, it's because you've never raced!" There will always be someone better... it's how I learned to get quicker tbh. Getting people faster than me in my friends list made me faster in the long run. And for a multitude of reasons, including them being nice people and offering advice.

Thanks to them, I am by far the absolute fastest racer the PS3 that I own has ever been touched by!!!

But... time will really tell who's who if everyone keeps their same names on the PS4 as I will be. No SRF in GTSport means for the most part, the playing field will be even more level... in theory. What scares me though, and scares me BADLY, is if the people who are bad on GT6 with SRF, how bad are they going to be on GTSport without it?!? :nervous:

Cheers

No, you're confusing them - there are 3 'fast' lady racers, 2 Belgians (dangerous and the girl with the van - I believe them to be the same person, as both drive/ram/brake test in the same way), and a blonde German, who drives very fairly.

I'm mostly with you here. I have to admit I came to know them as F1 drivers only, F1 being the one race series that had full TV support in all these 40 years in Germany. Missed out on Gilles Villeneuve, guess music got too much of my interest at that time.
As for them being neurotic must-winners and all, I for one don't find it acceptable - on the other hand I'm sure most of them wouldn't have gotten up there without these attitudes.
And on a side-note : There's a part of me that wants to be 'fan' only, plain and simple, and that's when my German heart comes into play, so ... go Seb ... ;) !

PS
Unbelievable but true : I begin to like Alonso.

The really cool men realise that winning isn't the bee all and end all....just my opinion, it's narcissism. The King of cool, Steve McQueen didn't want to win in his own film, LeMans, and I can see why - it's just all melodramatic and narcisstic. I have never cared about winning, even when I was a kid, and it isn't sour grapes because I was never in a position to do so at any point, because I have been a number of times at whatever it was I was in to at the time. I do things for the fun and challenge of it, and so long as I'm able to do my best and I enjoy it, I don't care.
