Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

Yeah, sometimes. You get different torque curves and horsepower curves so that makes it depend on the car, and the track. And then the transmission tune. I typically go for the best kg/hp combo then go from there with the transmission.

Thanks mate, I'm really curious 👍.

Whoops, though I found a combo good for 413 hp I see I left off at 411 hp but 327 ft-lbs of torque. Better for getting out of the uphill corners I'd guess. And the gearbox I set up is off a little because of less revs available. So, lower final a few.

Poor boy  ...
I actually tend to prefer these runaway races for good laptimes 'cos I still get too nervous under pressure ( you'll have forgotten this tomorrow, right ? ). I then start to make more of these little mistakes that upset the car so the car's performance suffers constantly. With you or The Godfather of tailgaters at my rear I'd possibly mess up the right kink before The Chase :scared: !

Won't be on track tonight for some more testing the HSV-010 ;). Quite sure though we'll both crack the 18 before time's up.

Easy wins seriously bore me. I usually end up pausing on the grid to drop to last to make things more interesting. I try a lot harder when I'm pushed though. Sharpens me up nicely.

I started playing around with different engine combos, because I accidentally changed the oil. Found one with 413 hp. One more than the usual 412. Peak power happens a couple hundred rpm sooner also. My body rigidity has turned yellow, and I like it. I put toe to -.07 and .07

I've been running the AE like that after I goofed doing an engine overhaul on it. Forgot it changed the oil. Lower limiter and torque with the racing exhaust but it's nice and smooth with the power delivery.

Was in a room with some GTP'rs, until a knock at the door. Hate that. Gotta go.

Thought the car was slow and naturally, oil wearing off.

Stupid oil.

Stupid oil.
Wondered where you went - hate it when that happens (or phone rings!)

I'm trying various bhp/torque settings at the moment - see if it helps with corner exit, haven't tried oil change though.

Not sure, bit technical for me - depends on whether more data is being exchanged with the servers I suspect?
Steelbook ?? In the french store there s two versions: deluxe version with pack of GT-VISION and rally cars lemans cars and 2M credit ....or the standart version without those cars ....
I was hoping a response from @ROCKET JOE or @ColinChapman who may have the sames propositions but i guess someone is still upset :ouch::ouch:

Deluxe version for me. Same choice as you in Switzerland.
How do you like the GTS user interface ? in my opinion, it's a great and modern step forward.

Almost got my 6:17 tonight... Had someone waiting on the last turn to block me and dropped me to 18.2. Then I get an SRF cheat message from them.:banghead:

Too gobsmacked to reply. A month of trying to put 3 laps together only to get a kick in the knackers on the very last corner.:grumpy:

I wouldn't worry too much, because visibility of key points of reference are just average at this track which should no longer be a problem in GTS. I find I'm having to rely on rhythm in half the corners driving at 95% and even then I'm getting it slightly wrong. There are no braking points for turn 1 or the esses at the end of the straight...WTF, this is meant to be a world circuit. Even if the inside kerbing of turn one was clear, it would be easier to gauge roughly where the area of preparation for the corner is.....I appreciate I use bumper view and that the other views offer better visibility, but bumper view gives the best feedback which is needed for a setup closer to the limit.

I feel for you - you've been so persistent 👍. It's a pain in the ass when you're on a really great run and you've already noticed on the map someone is waiting for you. I'm not exactly hotheaded but that's when I'm about to smash my DS3 :banghead:.

... to get a kick in the knackers ...

Yes ... finally I know how you Brits call it. That's way beyond what we learn in school so please, give me more of this .
Might need it for my next tete-a-tete with the Devil's bride.

@ColinChapman
How you're doing ? Long not seen :indiff: ...

Hi RocketJoe ! Sade days at the moment as you know. Was in München Oktoberfest last weekend and then come back quick to see my mom.

I raced a little yesterday night to change my mind. With @kilesa4568 making an "éblouissant" show and kindly trying to help me with my tune. But I was definitively not in, making a lot of mistakes or being treated like a pushing ball by other racers.

Just before, I've made some races with zeitgeistmusic, a very good guy too. Hope to race with you soon.

Looking forward to it. I've spent most of my seat-time ( sitting cross-legged on the floor  ) for both of the TTs which I enjoy much.

Crazy how GT or other games help people ( e.g. me and you ) when times are hard ! Keep your head held high ...

PS
Needed a dictionary for "eblouissant" ( oops, forgot the accent aigu ) - think this word is a match :).

There's a brake point for the esses but it's tricky to get it right as there's not really a marker. After The Chase, you go slightly downhill before the track rises up for the esses and if you hit the brakes at the track's lowest point, it sets you up perfectly for them. I'm usually doing 165-66mph when I hit the brakes but if I've had a tow up to close to 170, I can still make the corner with that brake point.

I can't help with turn 1 as I'm still guesstimating it myself. I've got around 4,000 miles racked up in this QM so I've got a feel for where I need to brake now.

I think my near salty vocabulary may infringe on the AUP at some point but I'll see what I can do.

You're SEVYTRON!

I honestly didn't know it was you. Out of everybody in this thread, I've probably raced you the most.

Did mirial's tune help you out? Easily the most stable tune I've tried and coryclifford's tune is very similar.

I used the same (mirial) tune for the AE as I put rigidity on the car and needed the edginess tempering over kim's tune but I've had some success going to 2 2, 3 3, 5 5 with it. It took me a while to get the hang of it but I can now slide the car through the corners rather than relying solely on grip. It's got a lovely bit of lift off over steer to tip you into corners as well.

I use bumper cam, and as such I use the shadow for the overhead wire which is clearly shown on the track and NEVER moves. I'll grab a pic of it, and show it later.

It's very similar to some of the brake points at Monaco... no real markers per se, but the shadows never move there either.

Cheers

Sorry people... it's not an overhead wire, it's the shadow of the lamp post I was referring to. It is almost equal to the second last balcony's edge, and is the shadow of the fourth last pole on the home straight.

As stated before, it NEVER moves. Hope it helps someone, as I've been using it forever, and it never fails... unless I fail to brake properly. ;)

Cheers

That's ok until it's an overcast day. I've never had one in this QM but in other events it can happen. I use the first lamp-post after the barrier changes colour on the right. It's a bit before the shadow but better safe than sorry. For the esses at the end of Conrod I use the end of one of the sets of writing on the barrier on the right, but you have to get the right one.

OMG ... yes ... it's no secret anymore  ![/QUOTE]

I guessed - You don't see many Swiss flags.
