Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

I'm mostly with you here. I have to admit I came to know them as F1 drivers only, F1 being the one race series that had full TV support in all these 40 years in Germany. Missed out on Gilles Villeneuve, guess music got too much of my interest at that time.
As for them being neurotic must-winners and all, I for one don't find it acceptable - on the other hand I'm sure most of them wouldn't have gotten up there without these attitudes.
And on a side-note : There's a part of me that wants to be 'fan' only, plain and simple, and that's when my German heart comes into play, so ... go Seb ... ;) !

PS
Unbelievable but true : I begin to like Alonso.
Actually SEB always irritated me since i watch him in every race with RB and everytime he finish first u heard him in the team radio "UNBELIEVOBLE " ........what s
unbelievable ... he got the double dif .... he only pit when he got enough time to come back first .... multi21 didnt apply on him ... and frankly all he s doing is ruinning the life of others drivers webber ...kimi .... and now for sure at 90% he and ferrari lost the championship and all that because he was blocking a teenage in the start

Good morning guys, it was a pleasure to run with you last night.
It is very challenging for me to run after dinner, but finding fast and very good drivers will repay you for the sacrifice.
In the rooms I came in, I found, besides you, all fast and correct drivers, a real pleasure.
Baron Blitz, I only saw you on the starting line then I do not remember well if you or I have disappeared.
Blonde Bombe, yes, it's fast and correct but I hope above all that it's a beautiful girl!

I had some real fun races with you and @StirlingMoose last night. Particularly the one where we swapped the lead a few times. Did you ever beat the 6:21.xxx that I saw you get?

Hey everybody,

I want to apologise ... for having started that F1 discussion.
Wasn't my intention for sure to do so, I've just been a bit emotional after that unholy GP start.
Sorry @mirial and @Mwerte but I'd like to stop this, mainly because
1. I don't feel entitled to discuss the F1 business and the politics behind or anyone's pit strategy
2. It's the wrong thread, and
3. I prefer discussing our own matters ( which might be quite similar sometimes :) )

Ok ?

Who's your favorite driver ? Don't say 'Hamilton' now :odd: ...
I have to say Hamilton, he's unbeatable when he's really in the groove. I watched him come up through the lesser formulae, and it was obvious he was very special even then. I saw him at Silverstone, in F3000, which was the feeder series to F1 before GP2 (now F2), and saw him overtake 3 cars in one go at Becketts - a place where it's 'impossible' to overtake!

Was a big Mansell fan in his day though!

Would love to see what Lewis could do at Bathurst (just to keep us on thread :))!

Changing the subject right now..... i m about to preorder GTS and do i choise the 70€ deluxe version ? Is it worth ?? Or i go the 60€ version?

@ROCKET JOE I know, I was just disappointed half the front runners were wiped out through childishness and selfishness when there would have been ample opportunity to win later had he had the pace. They didn't stoop to this level of driving before Senna was on the scene. It's just pleasing to watch the bikes knowing full well nobody will do anything underhand.

if the people who are bad on GT6 with SRF, how bad are they going to be on GTSport without it?!? :nervous:

If SRF is the only reason they're competitive now, I doubt we'll ever have to worry about them in GTS.:)

Anyone planning a Bathurst session tonight? Struggled after a couple of days off last night. I got a few good races in with Mwerte but had one of those nights where the walls got a bit too close too often so we didn't share the same bit of track very much. One reasonably quick person in the room blocking all passes didn't help matters.

@ROCKET JOE

Had another one of those mental 1st laps last night with an 8.0 and a couple of small mistakes. I think they're down to my pole positions and fast start times as on both (checked the 7.4 lap) replays, I cut what was probably a .00 light on them. Gambling with the light and timing it perfectly gave me a very easy turn one and a great run onto the straight on both. Well worth the gamble if you're after an overall PB but don't blame me if you jump.

I've gone for the Steelbook version - seemed to offer the best value of the 3 special editions available in the UK

Decided to have a bash at Bathurst tonight just as @bone_tone was leaving. Anyway, what an unstable piece of **** that Renault is, 2:11 was the best I could manage due to having absolutely no confidence in the car whatsoever.

I like Bathurst, I know the track & in a nice car it can be great fun but using that Renault is just grrr.

I do my best but it's so skittish over all the lumps & bumps that I spend more time trying to nurse the car around than actually having fun racing people.

Rant over

Think we've been in one room, ran under my anti-SRF-account ;) !

What tune are you using? I find it a great car to drive, find you can be quite aggressive with it, and generally get 2:05/06 laps out of it.

If the suspension is too stiff, it can be a bit of a problem over the bumps - one tune I tried actually had me feeling carsick!

Saw your name in a room, but I've got a feeling that I also recognised the names of one or two SRF users, so I bailed out....

2:05 wow, yeh I got no chance of matching that :)
Regarding the tuning I'm going softer & softer each time I run, got it down from 2:16 when I first tried so there's 5 seconds gone, just another 6 to go.

Pad user, no aids, abs1 btw.

Feelings been very mixed-up today :ill:, so I ran a handful at Bathurst from ( or to kick ) anger. Had an 8.0 first lap in the second race, but it sure needs such a perfect grippy room as well as a 'jump start'. Noticed again that grip changes from lap to lap. Smile returned when I had two consecutive 4.6 laps later ... if you put it all together, voila ...

Steelbook ?? In the french store there s two versions: deluxe version with pack of GT-VISION and rally cars lemans cars and 2M credit ....or the standart version without those cars ....
I was hoping a response from @ROCKET JOE or @ColinChapman who may have the sames propositions but i guess someone is still upset :ouch::ouch:

Oh, you waited for my reply ? Sorry, didn't think of that 'cos I've already posted my choice some time ago. I preordered the steelbook ... for the looks :).

PS
I don't think there are differences between German and French editions, most likely we both can choose from these :
http://www.gran-turismo.com/fr/products/gtsport/preorder/

PS PS
I preordered GT6 AE steelbook in 2013, which gave me 25 bonus cars, avatars, credits, colors and more, but all I ever used was the colors ( which was cool ) and four of the cars for some dedicated TTs in 13 / 14. Nobody needs that additional content - except for collectors' purposes.
I'm not sure if this still completely applies since GT Sport seems to head into another direction. As the great driver that you are you should not worry too much though.

im using this tune, with this edits 1 and 2.
dont know though how it works with pads.

very happy to race you guys!!!
nice to see some1 from GTp.

Got into the QM scene late....Im surprised by how bad I am. Unless my car tune is terrible, Im losing 10 seconds a lap to the leader, and dont know where im losing it. Really need work on my technique....

I'm afraid we forgot you between all of our busy busy weekend action  ...
I assume you're talking 'bout the Megane event.
You're off the pace ? So let's start with this v

It all adds up:
Driver skill is the most important thing, then comes setup, and least important is the car choice (if you choose between the HSV's)...

Ok, another car here, similar situation though. Well, a good setup is next. I think most of us guys here use one of the following tunes :

Sure, but I know I'm not done with it. I started with Kim's after trying stock for a short while.

412 HP
955 kg
80/75
9.00/11.00
1\1
1\2
2\3
-0.05/0.05
Brakes 5/3

8/12/12

130 downforce

Kim's transmission start point
2.745
2.029
1.595
1.291
1.078
.900 ← not the same
3.800 ← not the same

Float the car around. 👍

and ...

... Here's a setup that will help annoy the SRF brigade if anyone wants to try it and tweak it.

70 70
min min
1 1
1 1
6 7
0.0 0.0
0.00 -0.15
8 6 (max. Braking approx 2/3 pedal travel)

5 12 5

DF 150 ballast +50 rearwards 0 kg

These tunes feel quite different, they are similar fast however. Choose one to your liking, tweak it and see what happens.
We're running 2.04 - 2.06 laps with 'em.

The rest is up to you and your driving skills. Let me know how you're doing then .

You and I always seem to be running into turn 2 at Bathurst side by side! So far, we've managed to avoid hitting one another somehow :)
You are the provocateur for me, veery hard to catch! First time you showed me 2.05... Maan I was anxious :mischievous:

It is big pleasure racing against nick-name, that have been active in this thread. Almost as a rule: fast, agressive, sticky to the line and ultra clean.

This is what makes this game interesting for me, not physics, cars or whatever - people, with very special attitude.

P.s. I start thinking of SRFers as actually pretty good guys when I meet drivers on the streets of my home town 🤬

Good work on the back to back .6's.

Messed up three or four probable 6:17 runs last night and an eventual PB with an 18.4 on my cleanest run. Several 8.0 first laps (and a 7.8) but I didn't get any competition at all. Runaway wins all night from more front row starts than I've ever had before. No pressure on me to push harder for the 2nd and 3rd laps though so I only hit a single 04 (.8) all night. At least a dozen 5.0's.

Without pressure, I don't think I can push hard enough to get that pesky 17. My brain keeps switching over to safe mode if I'm not chasing/chased.

@Mr Grumpy

Try not to over drive the car as it really doesn't like it. Heating the tires up is the worst enemy for consistency but if you drive within the car's limits, you'll find it has huge grip and is very rewarding to drive. The two tunes listed above soften the ride nicely and with Bathurst, it demands a lot of seat time. Keep hammering out the laps and it'll eventually click for you.

I did 6.21 several times but never 6.20

I started playing around with different engine combos, because I accidentally changed the oil. Found one with 413 hp. One more than the usual 412. Peak power happens a couple hundred rpm sooner also. My body rigidity has turned yellow, and I like it. I put toe to -.07 and .07

Poor boy  ...
I actually tend to prefer these runaway races for good laptimes 'cos I still get too nervous under pressure ( you'll have forgotten this tomorrow, right ? ). I then start to make more of these little mistakes that upset the car so the car's performance suffers constantly. With you or The Godfather of tailgaters at my rear I'd possibly mess up the right kink before The Chase :scared: !

Won't be on track tonight for some more testing the HSV-010 ;). Quite sure though we'll both crack the 18 before time's up.

Hey Cory, seriously, has oil ever been good as long as the power limiter isn't at 100 ?
Always thought you get more car performance from the engine / power parts.
