Final Quick Match Races 2-7-18

I just gave the R8 Team Phoenix car a try and I was pleasantly surprised. Loads of grip and turns nicely but you have to be gentle on the low speed corners with the back end stepping out. Active steering on strong sorted that out and I started doing steady 2:04s. I noticed it was down a couple of mph at the bridges on the straights but at the same time, I was carrying more speed through the slower sections. I think PD put a little tune on them to settle them down as it's nothing like a stock R8 and it's actually enjoyable to drive...with AS.

That was using a DS3 so a seasoned wheel user should do much better with it.

I'd say the cars were definitely balanced equally with only the handling characteristics setting them apart. The beemer really needs a boost though.

That's what I remembered about the R8. Very easy to end up facing the wall at turn 1. Wasn't using AS though.

In the 7:14s now. :D
Have you ever ride in real live there? I'm more of F1 but I like Nascar to, Fun to watch. No 🤬 earo things just a ''light'' powerfull HP care and go:tup:

Indy attracts me less, sort of failed F1:lol:

Curious if anyone else has noticed,, as in earlier QM offering only loaner cars if you use the same car over and over it seems to get quicker and faster? eg; a couple of months back for the Fuji and Suzuka events I used the Team Oreca Peugeot 908 at Fuji, the HSV at Suzuka - exclusively - and found they got easier to drive, ran faster and quicker for me. It's almost as if those cars remembered my driving style and offered an easier time driving them.

At the new Daytona QM, a couple evenings back I was lucky and got a 3rd spot start,, had good first corner and broke away from the field. Lap 2 was a 1:46ish lap and I was around 6 seconds out (luckily for me they had tangled themselves on the first corner again at conclusion of 2nd lap). One of the many SLS Benz broke away, laid down a 1:42 or so and ran me down for a 2nd place at only .02 separating us,, WHOA!! How did he do that? Now, I am NOT among the SUPER drivers in the game but I can hold my own fairly good,, but seeing that Benz run the GT-R down was awesome! I don't believe it's possible to "hack" these loaner cars but I found it AMAZING the Benz could be so quick as to make up that much time in 2 laps - I finished with a 7:14 total time.

Anyway, I agree 100% with all of you the run at 7 is dumb, and I dunno why PD left the sports car event at Tsukuba when they could clearly see the 550 Tuner race at HSR was VERY popular,, but it is what it is. The Daytona and Panorama loaner car events are a hoot and surprisingly there seems to be more clean drivers than previous QM which makes them worth the hassle WAITING, trying and RE-trying to join them.

I have the same on Tsukuba. took the Tesla from the beginning and I was getting faster and faster.
You also need a bit of luck that there no rammers in it :P

Had a lot of fun at Daytona tonight, some really close, clean racing. This stuff is just addictive. Almost got the GT-R under 7:10 with a little tow from a Benz. And the Audis are rubbish!

Damn. A 10th slower @coryclifford

I couldn't take a picture of the results screen as I don't own a phone (had to wait for the missus to get home) but it was a full room with me on pole.

I also noticed some people getting into the mid 1:44s for lap time (7:05 total) but after checking the replay, they were flattening the chicane (cutting the corner into it), getting a 3 second penalty but doing 30-40mph or so quicker when it ended. Ghosting through anyone in front of them who were driving the actual track.

I can't race against people who do that. Back to Bathurst I go.

Usual thing, just as you're getting the hang of it, and start winning a few races, the aliens start joining in! I've managed to get my overall race time down to 8.20.xx at Bathurst, but last night had to put up with one driver who kept putting in 8.14.xx times, tonight came up against a guy who managed an 8.12.xx (and he started from last place on the grid!!).......

I was with a German in Tsukuba, I do not know how he did it but it just came smoke from his car, That $%^&& drive me from the track. So I wait..... I knew his line and waited for him. BOOM. Got him:tup::lol:

I've seen a few people who're regularly in the mid teens for the total and 8:14 was the quickest I'd seen. I would have thought they'd peaked at that. 8:12 is mad. Another half a second a lap found. They must have really wrung the neck of the car they were using.

I'm still trickling my way through 8:21s. 8:21.5 is my quickest, previously 21.7, previously 21.9. Two tenths at a time is agonising.

My line seems to be ok (looking at the fast driver's lines) but using an auto gearbox seems to be holding me back. Braking and waiting for the right gear for the corner and changing gear a bit too long into the powerband. I should get into the 19s once I grow a set and stop playing it safe through the Dipper section though.

8:20 is a great time by the way. Want a race to the 19s? :D

8.19.8 today! - just beat you to it! I think that's my absolute limit though, I was exhausted afterwards!

Interestingly, there still seems to be a variation in grip levels from day to day - last night I was sliding all over the place, today I had a lot more grip.

Hey, I wasn't ready. You didn't say go...:D

I couldn't tie 4 laps together. I equalled my best time twice and a new 2:04.1 best lap but nowhere near your new PB. Nicely done mate.👍

*Walks off trying to think of an easier challenge...darts maybe...

What's the quickest car for the Bathurst QM?

Doing low 2:02's in the GTR with a best lap of 2:01.9 (no aids except abs). Think my best race time is 8:14. Would be interesting to know if there's a quicker car for it?

The GTR is the fastest (the Schulze version for some reason) that I have seen. As I've reported higher up this thread, I've seen a few drivers running 8.14s, and one guy running an 8.12, all in the Schulze GTR.

Can't quite understand why the 2 GTRs are different, but they seem to be. I don't know why the 2 R8s have different PP ratings, but there must be a reason.

Bugger I better try the Schulz one then.. I've been in the YouTube car
Be interesting to see whether you find it faster then, should be a good test! I'm only basing my view on what I've seen in races since this QM went live.

Well I was just having a go with the Schulz but I had to leave because of the total MORONS you get in quick match.. Ramming me off the track each time I go to pass.. Had to turn it off before I smashed the screen

Honestly, why bother? D**k heads :banghead:

A combination of terrible drivers and worse server reliability resulted in the most rage I've felt in a long time today.

1. Struggle struggle struggle to get around bad drivers from a back of the field start

2. Have a terrible race (bad driving seems to be contagious sometimes?)

3. Start next race on pole, prepare to school these turds

4. Get dropped from server just before countdown starts.

5. Lose it.

Also, not sure what I'm doing that I'm 1 - 2 secs off pace on Bathurst. Will have to investigate further.
