There are 5 CLK-GTR roadsters.

There was a AMG-owned tuning firm that did the 5 CLKGTR convertibles. Those classified as being the most expensive production cars of all time. There was a thread about it on GTP a few years ago, I'm sure someone could find it...

I've jsut read the article in Autocar, they said it eclipses everything else, it handles superb, it'll beat a McLaren F1 to 200Mph if you give the F1a 9 second head start, to put that into speeds if you had both side by side and the F1 set off at full palt and the Veyron didn't, then the Veyron set off as the F1 hit 130Mph, they would both hit 200 at the same time. Putting it that wayand reminding myself that it's an F1 were comparing it to really makes the speed of this thing stand out. Besides all that they praised the cars handling being great and not feeling like 1800kg+ car they said it was all too perfect, a bit too clinical so it lost some of what could have potentially been extra character.

If they could raise the car higher than it is and gave it suited tyres for the job it'd probably be competent for a road car, it's weight would have far more of an effect off road though making the car take a lot longer to stop and harder to balance round the corners. As I said it'd be competent for a road car, but if you put it up against a group a car it wouldn't stand a chance imo.

I'm not talking about it being average in rally car terms though, average in road car terms. Dakar btw is a kind of rally race, theres a lot more to rallying than the WRC.

I know what the Dakar is, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it. :)

What I meant is that your typical twisty, narrow, backroads rally would be slow-going in the titanic Veyron, but the wide-open, long-distance nature of the Dakar could maybe work. That is, if the car could take the abuse.

That would actually be interesting.

Considering a lot of other Dakar entrants are either SUVs or three ton trucks, the Veyron wouldn't be bad, if it had the articulation for it... but I doubt it would be possible to put that much suspension on the car and still have it retain the same silhouette.

VW's been bragging about their rigid testing, so a Paris-Dakar publicity stunt would be certain to drum up some good vibe for them.

But we all know that a German company would never enter their really-expensive AWD Supercar into a rally of any kind... :)

The cooling problems were sorted a long time ago, the problem would be the suspension. To get over the terrain they'd need to raise the cars height a lot, probably a lot higher than the chassis wll permit, which would mean extensivechassis modifications. Now, the Pikes peak on the othe hand...........

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I am still wondering if the Bugatti Veyron can actually beat Ferrari FXX around a track. What about the Porsche Carrera GT or the Ferrari Enzo? :odd:

It's a chump novelty car for rich people. Get over it.

No. The Veyron was built for only one thing: speed. It looks about as nimble as a barn.

Your pretty certain there for a person who hasnt driven any of those cars. I for one predict that around top gears test track it will be a second or so faster than the enzo even though the track is pretty compact in that cars with great handling and low power can post lap times similar to those with nearly double the power.

Something about 16 cylinders, 4 turbos, and a weight of 4300 pounds doesn't exactly conjure up thoughts of a well-mannered track car. If Ferrari's horsepower claims are correct, the FXX has a better power/weight ratio, though it isn't street legal. (A road-going Enzo has a power/weight ratio only slightly less than the Bugatti). In a track race, I'd bet the FXX is faster around a lap, unless the track happens to be Le Mans of yesteryear.

1 Hot lap, a Veyron might make a good showing before it shreds it's tires.

Anything more, a "vanilla" Enzo would make a fool of it, it was designed to be just about as race ready as a road car can get after all.

An FXX is a whole different class, 800 Hp, 3000 Lbs (or is it even lighter than that?) all the downforce and gooey tires you could want, it would eat a Veyron in anything but a straightline blast.

Making pretty big assumptions there arn't you. Wrong ones at that, considering the test drive in this weeks issue of Autocar magazine I have next to me quite clearly states that the car is incredibly precise, it's almost too good in every way. As for track performance, I bet it will be the new fastest car round the TopGear track, looking at all the positive feeback from people who've driven the Veyron saying it can corner well (okay not as well as the Enzo, but thats not exactley a put down) and just ho much faster it will go round the high speed sections, it'll be immense. I still think the Cerbera Speed 12 would be the fastest car round the TopGear track being at least a good three seconds faster than the Enzo. This might beat the Enzo but it'll be close, your looking at the times being within a second of eachother.

Again, very wrong, the Veyron doesn't spin it's tyres wildly, it's a very controlable machine. If you shred it's tyres fast youre not a good driver according to more than one review of the car.

As for the FXX, it'd be a sad day for ferrari if the FXX didn't win, it's a race car, it's not road legal, it wears racing tyres it's not a comparison and even on the off chance it wen't round TopGears track the time wouldn't count for the same reason the DBR9's didn't.

Holy. ****ing. ****. 0-250 in 55 seconds? Ummm...that's quite fast and makes the Enzo, Zonda, and CGT seem like pussycats.

Plus its about time this car was released lol. Wonder when i'm going to see one here in england!

Hmm.

Not a good driver because you shred the tires on a 4300 lb machine?

You realise that spinning wheels are only one thing that kills tires.

Braking, Cornering, Acceleration, all kill tires, and the amount of weight being moved, and the speed it's being moved at all affect that.

In this case, it's a large amount of weight, at a ridiculous speed, so yes, it WILL thrash it's tires if you drive it in anger.

It weighs OVER a thousand pounds MORE than the Enzo/CGT and them do.

Not to mention, with the aids turned off, every single review of it I've read said it will spin all four wheels in third gear.

I wonder how those '1000hp' tuner Japanese cars stack up againts the veyron especially the skyline.

If those tuner cars really have 1000hp, they should at least be equal in terms of acceleration especially the skyline compared to the veyron and might even handle better because of lower weight.

Anyone have these cars? :dopey: If you do, test it for me okay?
