Nearly there… 😬

On PS4 Pro and the resolution is definitely lower than in Sport. It's not as sharp for sure. Shame, but I guess to be expected with the increased visual detail like dynamic weather.

Agree the rear grip seems very low in some license tests but I'm assuming it's the low end tyres. Had to turn on TCS for some, and noticed TCS cuts throttle by half, so maybe just need to get used to throttle placement.

Catch the rabbit races are lame. And AI is laughably bad. So slow through the corners. Some users say the races with chillies are more difficult so fingers crossed. I'm still early in the game but would have expected more of a challenge than this on hard difficulty.

All that said. I am still having fun. Its probably about what I expected. Looking forward to unlocking online racing and having some real races there.

Wait, so you need to grind to even play sport?

Seriously wonder if there's two game lines here, take SPORT in another direction and leave the "grind with a kei car for 100 hours to upgrade to a supra then add tunes" to the crowd that likes that aspect of the game.

I am here to race and it looks tome like GT7 took a hard turn away from that.
Maybe this is a good thing. This way, people get a feel for the game before going punt others online 😂

You can't remove stuff from the screen. I like to race with as little on screen as possible. This will probably be a year 3 update. Once it starts to annoy me I'll stop playing.

PS5 version, some improvement in these area:
  1. The car is way to clean when using the outside view. It s clashing against the beautiful wet and dirty track.
  2. Cockpit view, the rain drop is horrible, there wiper doesn't event contact the rain drops and the windshield is clear, no water splash or marks. So it feel cheap and not realistic since visibility is suppose to be very poor.
  3. Probably a sound bug but there no sound at all when you receive a car gift in the racetrack garage scene.
  4. UX issue in the license mode, the instructor cut right in when you watch the demo for the first time, it s really unpleasant, also when going back to the license screen he start repeating the same thing again. Another back example is when he said, using the street panel as your reference to break, but the problem is you get distracter by the big yellow map marker that is place everywhere.
  5. The UI when you complete the race and gaining credits look totally different from the reset of the traditional menu style...i tough i was playing Destiny.
  6. Let me disable the haptic vibration when navigating in the menu, omg....it s super not pleasant and draining my controller batteries lol
  7. Car colors still doesn't match the reality. Example the lancer evolution X, the painting is way to glossy and saturated vs my real life Evo X in Blue and my friend Red version.
  8. A.I is not SoPhy yet.
  9. A.I on easy mode is pure ****, are they reusing the same GT 1 a.1? It s super hard to catch up the 1st pos. A.I even on EASY mode!
  10. Is it just me or the car assist that your stuck with in the License mode is just there to block you? The assist is making the car very hard to turn...

-Major improvement in the cockpit view, it s really fun to drive now in that view, but still fin it useless the car roof view lol
-Great loading time, almost seamless
-Better sounds as well
-Getting use to the happing will driving, nice touch.
-the ray trace is incredible

Have not receive my credit with my pre order...glitch?

Alright, so after really playing and going through a lot of the things in the game, I'm posting this comprehensive list of things that I consider pros and cons. Before I start, however, I would like to just add this little disclaimer: these are opinions, not fact, nor are they meant to be an attack on anyone else's views here. Lastly, anything I write here I actually stand behind and if someone else has a certain point of view on any of the things I've said, I'll gladly acknowledge your viewpoint and be more than happy to discuss some of the reasoning behind my opinions. Anyway, let's start with the good.

What I really, really like so far about Gran Turismo 7:
  • I love the way the "World Circuits" is laid out and how each track is placed on the map in its respective location around the world. That's a cool touch and I appreciate that a lot.
  • Having the option to pick and choose which music tracks play is nice.
  • Aside from the ridiculous and constant tire squeal, I love the way the cars sound. Could've been cool to add different types of mufflers to change what the car sounds like, though.
  • I love the way the "World Map" looks and how you've got things all laid out for you in a little town. Nice touch.
  • I love the way the game looks overall, although some things kind of didn't strike me as amazing in terms of graphical excellence.
  • I love the way the story mode (or campaign) is presented. Feels very much like the ways of old.
  • I really like that there's an option to buy used cars. That's great.
  • I like the way the tuning shop is laid out and that it requires a little bit of a grind to get access to better performance levels, although I didn't have to grind since I just bought my way to the required Collector Level as soon as I started.
  • I really appreciate that Polyphony Digital went out of their way (once again) to bring more attention to the actual history and sport of racing. Too many people out there, I think, compare racing to Need for Speed or The Fast and Furious movies. Don't get me wrong- those games and those movies are awesome, but they don't accurately represent the true history and sport of racing. So, yeah. Great job Polyphony Digital. Well done. I appreciate you all very much for that.
  • I really love that they finally, FINALLY released the game.

What I really, really don't like:
  • Disappointed with the "wide selection" of cars for a game released in 2022 after so many years of development.
  • Seems like there was little to no consideration for players on a dualshock controller, and instead they catered to steering wheels. If you don't know what I mean, wheel users, try switching to a controller and see if you can still drive as well. Playing Gran Turismo (and playing well) on a controller is a real skill these days.
  • Some of the license tests were absolutely ridiculous. A-10 Racing Line Basics in that ******* supra on SH tires took me like 100 tries to pass and I only passed it because I finally said **** it and started drifting every turn (by nature I'm not a drifter). Passed first try after that. "Take everything you've learned and apply it to the track"- what a joke. Granted- I'm not the best controller-driver in the game, but I'm not bad. I feel like I'm pretty damn good considering I'm on controller and the only assist I ever use is ABS on weak and occasionally Traction Control set to 1 with ridiculously powerful vehicles.
  • The cafe just seems really stupid. I mean.. A cafe out in the middle of the woods with some random people who give you what must be super secret missions written inside of a restaurant menu? Okay....
  • The cost of modifying vehicles is a little ridiculous. Can't imagine how they figure full modification on a street vehicle for a couple hundred Horsepower (at best) costs 100,000+ (and that doesn't even include tires, turbo, nitrous, OR customizable upgrades). And don't get me started on the heavily overpriced oil changes and body kits...
  • Dirt races suck ass. It's worse than GT Sport.
  • The AI is total garbage.. Nowhere near challenging enough even on the most difficult settings.. Very, very disappointed with that.
  • MOST of the soundtrack sucks.
  • I really didn't like getting the stupid little pep talks every single time I made an attempt at gold on the license tests.. Totally unnecessary and really irritating especially after the first 10 times. Matter of fact, all the little talking heads are really irritating and unnecessary. This is Gran Turismo- not Need For Speed...
  • The whole "invitation" thing to buy limited time vehicles that should be available anyway, and cost millions of credits is obviously an attempt to get people to spend money. Shame on you, Polyphony Digital... Shame...
  • It's sad to see so many people touting this game as such a big improvement when really it just has a prettier look and a couple extra features... I guess that's what happens after forgetting about Gran Turismo 6 in all its greatness and then four years of being forced to play nothing but Gran Turismo: Sport, or, god forbid, Forza...
  • For all my fellow NASCAR racers, clean and dirty alike, who have been waiting since Gran Turismo 6... THERE'S STILL NO STOCK CARS.......

Welp... That's all I've got to say. I know it seems like a lot of b****ing, moaning, and crying but overall I feel like Gran Turismo 7 has missed the mark. While it's good to finally get away from GT: Sport and great to finally see this game released, I'm pretty disappointed with my experience so far with GT 7. I expected better after so long. That being said, I'm sure there will be a lot of improvement over the next couple years on both the game, and my own experience. I was just hoping for more right off the bat. Maybe that's just me. Thanks for hearing me out. (:

Being forced to try the music rally and having to watch the intro was annoying
Am I missing something? I’ve bought the disc version for PS5, copied across and currently I have to wait 66hrs?

Love the exhaust crackling while cooling down after finishing a race in the rewards screen :)

Like GT Sport. Disc and PSN doesn't differ in download size. Wouldn't make sense making a fuss with SSD in the PS5 to slowly load content from a disc.

I played for about 2 hours yesterday before going to sleep. Definitely feels like a full Gran Turismo because GTS was disappointing even if it was $10 for me. i love the new physics engine that allows for trail braking (GTS just makes your car spin around).

On a brand new T300RS, all driving assists off as I've been driving with my old T500RS since GT5.

My comment or this post is purely based on the feedback I'm getting from my T300RS.

I am absolutely mind blown, this is horrible. 7 hours into the game and I have absolutely no confidence whatsoever in the rear-end of my car during low-to-mid speed cornes in rwd cars (stock setups, license tests). The slightest tap of the throttle and the car spins out.

At no point whatsoever I have the feeling that I'm able to push the car to the limit on the tyres given to me for any license test. I thought it was just me at first but while streaming a viewer commented he felt similar. It's like driving on ice with grip in front but no grip at the rear, it's very very frustrating.

This weird feeling/grip thing aside I'm totally loving the game.
Exactly the same on my Fanatec dd. It’s near unplayable for me. Im literally crawling around corners in some cars because I just don’t know when it’s going to kick me and I have to start again. Having to do the license tests with the controller, I’m no good with a pad but it’s like a different game and you can actually go around corners

Mixed bag for me so far. Kinda annoying you have to unlock everything and I'm not a fan of FF cars which is all you have in the beginning.

I'm not that far in yet since N24 is on in GT Sport, so I've just been playing GT7 while waiting for the next race to start on PS4 pro. Good news is, no problem running them side by side on one ps+ account.

However jumping between the two, I'm not a fan of the adaptive triggers or at least not the heavy use on the brake side. It messes up my braking more than I get out of it. I set it to weak, still feels too intrusive, nothing like the ABS kicking in in my car in icy conditions. I'll give it some more time before turning it off. Maybe I'll get used to it. The rumble feedback is excellent though, and adaptive feedback on the throttle side is good.

Graphics wise, N24 looks better on ps4 pro than anything I've played so far on GT7. It's the prettiest version that's on this week, so kinda comparing the best of the best vs high speed ring etc. However, HDR feels off in GT7. Goodwood circuit early one looked washed out with a huge yellow blob for the sun, ugly.

The music was too loud for me, turned it all the way down, I want to hear the cars!

Rain is great, puddles, lines, great stuff. Can't wait to try the Nord in the rain, but who knows when that will unlock :/ Plus GR.3 cars are 450K a piece, quite a lot when a race only gives you 6K lol.

Tuning, how I have not missed you at all. It annoyed me I had to waste credits on tuning to get to the next menu book. Not for me, just give me a car to drive.

Anyway, so far GT7 can't peel me off N24 in GT Sport, yet almost nothing can :)

I inserted the disc on PS5 and the update took over 8 hours! Finally now with peoples help from on here I Thank You All it is up and running.
I found out how to go to that download screen and it said 27 hours left and my heart dropped, It took about another hour and it was done!!! Don't ask I don't know why.
Now my kid is up puking everywhere got a stomach bug from school!!!!!!!!!! Oh the joys.
I will get to play it one day.
Good Luck.

I've only played around an hour so far so big caveats in my thoughts, but the negatives are pretty much what I expected going in. I'm on a base PS4 (thanks Sony) and it basically looks the same as GT Sport (granted I haven't unlocked rain stages yet). Which is fine I guess, at least they didn't make it worse, but I don't have fancy graphics to distract me from the flaws. Maggiore looks perhaps more detailed, but I would need to do a side-by-side comparison.

The main thing that's a shock to me is going from the streamlined, do-what-you-want style of GTS back to the antiquated lock-everything-from-the-player style of old GT games. Dread going through all those license tests. I know for some that makes it an amazing game because they just want the same experience in every iteration of GT, but the CarRPG aspect just doesn't do it for me anymore. I knew I would feel that going into this, but it's still a source of friction for me.

UI is certainly nice as always, nicer than GTS really, though loading times for races are as expected very slow on a standard PS4 with a spinning drive. Cafe seems forgettable the way they implemented it and I'm not super into all these avatars you have to talk to. A couple music tracks have been jams so far, but I'm already missing some of the chill GTS tracks. Social aspects (competitions with friends etc) seem unimproved from Sport, which was one of the biggest flaws of Sport, so it's sad to see that unchanged. It's too early for me to judge the handling compared to GTS, but didn't feel drastically different. Don't like the fact that they got rid of the rubber cones though -- having digital placemarks for corners takes me out of the experience.

It feels at least 10x more pretentious than GT Sport. I don't know yet if that's good or bad.

I agree with your comment but I’m still confused: hear me out.
This is download 97 GB from the internet. Surely copying the data from the disc to the SSD negates the need to download no?
Someone on twitter says that the disc only contains the music rally?

THis. 100pc this.

Here’s an impression for ya:

Man, oh man. The “rallying” is complete garbage and a waste of space, as it’s been since GT2.

Edit: Oh, and the “drag racing” is probably the most ridiculous and dumb thing ever.

Look, I seriously want to enjoy this game. The physics are great, the weather is awesome, but it would be nice if the FFB was actually... there? It is LAUGHABLY bad, easily the worst I've driven since GTR2.

Edit: Ah yeah the dirt physics? Don't even bother. Want some comic relief? Go try the jumps at Sardegna Windmills in chase cam. THIS SOLD FOR £60 AT BASE.

Keeping throttle under 50% through the corner seems to prevent spins (and if you watch the TCS it also cuts throttle by half). Admittedly I need to experiment with different tyres, but I think it's just gonna be all about learning new throttle placement.
