What's trash? And what's the fix? I just unlocked the Sport mode and haven't tried it yet.
Didnt try sport, but when i tried lobby:

All driving aids turned on by itself, i always drive without them... Turned trans to auto by itself. Couldnt turn them off, when i did it threw me out uppn entry to track. It was just a mess. Im sure they can and will fix it. Got black screen when i went on track. Game froze several times. Lots of wierd stuff. A bit tired tbh.

Managed to grind it for 14h, might be just a bit sour over the lobby races that failed, which i saved for last. I bet PD has a long list of to-dos.... Time for some sleep now.. have fun! Its not as bad as i make it out to be, afterall kept me up 14hrs... Lots of nostalgia!

Sounds just buggy.

You're also on PS4, right? It's possible that some of those bugs aren't present on PS5. (Not saying it's fine - there shouldn't be bugs anywhere.)

Played about 4 hours. Great game! This is Gran Turismo. One question: is there a way to listen to the car's engine sound while in garage mode, like in GTS? That was one of the highlights for me, as I like to just look and listen to my favorite cars from time to time.

Second impressions: Not good.

I turned the adaptive triggers off for the brakes. It's just annoying, not helpful at all.

Races are the old upgrade to win while the AI is the same rubber band nonsense as always. I turned the difficulty down so I don't have to spend hard to earn credits upgrading cars I'll only use for the boring Sunday cup cafe races. Only by menu 10 mind, my pp was too low for those races, but not gonna spend thousands upgrading a crap car lol. I prefer the mileage points from GT Sport for upgrading.

The perspective or FOV in default bumper cam is off, zoomed out to increase the sense of speed I guess. Tracks look longer and wider as a result, stretched. It's very weird and off putting coming (switching back and forth) from GT Sport.

Sport mode has tuning, no contact penalties, it's a crap show. And now also the indication whether you gained or lost SR is gone after the race. Races are already dirty, I just saw a couple 'SR.S' drivers pull the same **** as in GT Sport, crash each other into a wall on the straights. No penalties, nothing. Lobbies are missing the show only rooms with friends option, annoying.

I tried to race on the Nordschleife in a lobby (still locked in single player, got to grind) which I have been racing on all week. It looks rather ugly in GT7. Maybe it was the time of day (low sun) chosen by the host, yet the road looked like plastic and overall the lighting is a big downgrade (but dynamic).

Single player is kinda boring, collect cars and unlock more things to do by doing the cafe missions. I'm not far in yet mind, yet at this point I prefer the 'campaign' of GT Sport... This cafe stuff is already feeling tedious after 9 'menus' (need to complete the first 9 to unlock multiplayer) It's the same thing over and over, place 3rd or better in 3 short Sunday cup races to collect the cars.

I guess it will get better when it opens up more and I unlock more. Atm it feels like a heavy dose of buyers remorse and I'll be playing GT Sport instead tomorrow. I'm going to play Horizon FW now to get rid of this yucky feeling from GT7. It feels like a step backwards, messing more things up that worked in GT Sport at the start.

One big positive is the loading times. Sport mode loads pretty much instantly, I guess the ps4 and ps5 base are split. Races now start within a minute instead of 3 minutes in GT Sport. (30 sec warm up and go) The servers are who knows where though. Everyone had 3 yellow bars at most, I have 5 green bars in GT Sport. Cars were kinda jittery in lobbies, net code is still wonky.

PD has a lot of work to do to make the online portion fun. I hope there are some better races to unlock for single player as so far it's not grabbing me at all. GT7 makes GT League look good so far lol. But it is nice to race on High Speed Ring and Deep Forest again.

The game is not perfect, but it does not matter. You can't just stop playing it.
Is that good or bad? Reading the comments I'm definitely waiting before getting this, maybe one day it will be a good game or at least have good online racing, at the moment it just looks like the sort of game you keep playing because you have to finish it. I've played too many of them and the pay off never comes.

Playing it because you have to finish it?? How many people you really think finish a GT game? This game is definitely worth it imo, and I can understand you waiting for a sale to maybe get it later, that’s smart when your on the fence, but the driving tuning, customization, graphics, music makes it my opinion the best GT game I’ve played… I only think the game can get better here with updates!

The only reason I’m doing any single player stuff is to be able to play online with the cars I’ll need. I find it quite dull honestly. I feel like when you start the game it should have a clear delineation and you choose ‘sport mode’ or ‘collecting mode’. The mish mash og the two doesn’t work. Especially the tuning for online using single player credits.

The issue early game like most titles these days is you are forced into the jank end of the spectrum. GTS was fantastic with the right vehicle and tyre set up... I get the feeling this game will be sublime with P4 330 and racing tyres... Right now, bad tyres, heavy cars, slow acceleration & limited track selection is a pretty dire introduction to what is obviously a masterpiece. The question is should the grind be a grind? I feel like im working through a task, not leisure for now anyway. An Arcade mode with none customisable cars and all the tracks would have alleviated this to a degree...

It’s a full blown GT game, sport was a different game compared and many people didn’t vibe with it saying it’s not a real GT game. We get a Normal GT game and people are upset at the progression part which has been part of the game forever. I don’t know it’s a tough call, and I can understand people just wanting cars to compete online or sport mode.

There’s no reason they couldn’t have done both. Would have been trivially easy.

I’m not disagreeing with you my friend I completely understand stand where you are coming from. I’m in a snail GT3 Cup league here on GTP and the whole crew is grinding hard to get the parts we need to mock this car up! I just don’t know how they would just give you cars to compete on online if you don’t own it and further more have parts to tune it. GTS is a different animal, unless your talking about just making the weight and power sliders just as GTS when only competing in sports or private rooms. I think that might work

Online had a bunch of red metrics I didn't meet and some weird standards and my number was lower than the other numbers so I just got up and did some other stuff in my house.

Tuning is a barrier. Congrats.

Absolutely loving it. Managed to unlock all the locations on the map and the game has completely come to life. GT Auto brings some niceties, scapes has been improved, as has the livery editor. Game play is an interesting concept and I'm starting to enjoy it. Set to Difficult the AI really can drive when you're not doing a book mission and it's actually quite fun racing them when they've all got widebody kits, racing exhausts, etc.

Agree with this. Played like 10+ hours and I've really got no cars for online yet. I barely got enough credit for one GT4 car. At this much of a grind I dunno how long I can hold on.

Not only that but online is currently pay to win. Even with Race A in the crap box hatches you gotta spend tens of thousands upgrading to secure a pole finish. What's up with that???

Seriously debating just putting it on easy to grind through the campaign and missions for credits.

I'm not a long time GT player but I don't get the allure. You literally race rubbish AI in what amounts to time trials with obstacles just so you can collect cars? Where's the spirit of driving and racing in that?? It's just a glorified virtual car collector. Fine I guess, but a bit weird.

Shame though cus the driving and the weather is actually pretty good imo.

I finished 2,3 and 4 and would have tried to finish GTS if it wasn't for the drifting garbage. Still got to level 47, so didn't get that 2 for scapes, the 2 drifts and wins and poles (easy to get by racing at D if you want). Finished the game though, all golds and won ever race including the arcade.
Why get a single player game if you aren't at least going to try and finish it?

There is way too much unnecessary clicking while browsing menus. After you finish caffe menu race, message pops up and tell you "now go back to caffe". FFS, why is not some shortcut to go directly to caffe. You need to click 20 times to reach caffe from race menu.
Last night I was in party chat with few friends, all playing single player mode and all you can hear is milion click, click, click, click, click... FFS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Other than that

- Music rally is OK-ish, but definitely one of the dumbest idea to put it at the very beginning and make it mandatory before you can even start the game and see intro?! And what is the purpose of it? PD wants to promote cars to younger audience? So let them drive the car without engine sound while listening classic music, music that most of the younger people never heard of it? That is the way to introduce cars?

- There is no option to save/load private/public room settings? Why? How can you forgot to put that simple function in the game?! I guess Music Rally is more important than that

We should have a option on the screen where you can jump right into your garage to do some work on your car instead of going all the way back to the menu etc...

i would also like to dont exit licenses and go straight to the next one like in gt4

I grabbed it yesterday on release for PS4 (I have a Pro) and the game looked gorgeous even on the old hardware. Handling seems a lot more manageable if you lose the tail and run no assists so that is great. GTS seemed a bit too lose. Weather changes are crazy, sun/clouds moving throughout the race, rain looks so awesome now.

I have yet to experience the framerate drop alluded to in the review anywhere. I have only gotten to MB10 in the 5hrs I have had with it though and looking forward to more. It will be a slow-ish grind for me but looks like it will accommodate me for a while.

As mentioned above, the need to exit the lisence test to go to the next one is a bit off, could do it before so why not now?

Welcome back to a real GT release though. So far so great 👍

Played for a few hours today. I love it. I was one of the first in line to ask for a difficulty slider as I found GTS to hard for my skills and right at the beginning of the game it asks me do I want Easy Medium or Hard. Thank you Polyphony for that.
Game Play Graphics and the main thing Addictive Fun is just brilliant.
I will say it again I love it.

That was what stopped me racing online in an older GT game. I can't remember which one it was now, but I went into a race, and people had cars that were miles faster than mine. I looked to see if there were any races that were limited to fixed spec cars so it could be a driving race rather than a contest for who is willing to spend ages getting the credits to make the fastest car, and couldn't see that any such races existed, so never bothered again. GTS had this problem solved with its emphasis on racing cars in stock form, so I'm not sure why they've broken it again for GT7.
