FITT BTCC Championship - !! Driver Spot Available !!

Looking for a driver, due to family circumstances my driver has had to pull out. Can switch to driver if someone wants to tune or I can tune if there is a driver available. I've got the focus set up and ready to go

Coming along nicely................👍

Group 2 results have been posted from yesterdays pre-season race. Please note that these points will not count toward the actual championship, I've only included them so we can all see how many points are available.

It was a worthwhile exercise and once Group 1 has run their pre-season races today, we'll have a look at what further balancing is required 👍

Helpfully we'll hear something from the Group 2 guys. I've given @Stewyripper the opportunity to drive for @randyrockstiff this evening. @Lewis_Hamilton_, you'll effectively be running as a one man team, I'm afraid. Hopefully a solution will present itself...

That's about the size of it :sly: I caught myself tutting at @danbojte last night, when he dropped a cold tyre in the dirt and spun on the first lap. In the 2nd race, he caught and passed @Lionheart2113, after a 4-5 lap pursuit. The Bavarian Beast's favourable tyre wear ultimately undid the Essex Scrapper and I'm all like, woo hoo, go Dan!! Such are the ups and downs of being a mechanic

I'm really interested in the other Ford drivers' times. I don't know if it's a case of driver/car or what, but these were the times I put down from yesterday's practice round and maylay races afterwards. I will say that we had a couple of non FITT drivers and about 7-9 on the grid and it was a blast racing with you guys. Especially @danbojte , he and I couldn't seem to get away from each other with him in the BMW and me in the Ford. If and when this series takes off, it would be great to have more than 4 on the track!

Laguna Seca

Ford
Fully tuned
Lap Time: 1:34.8xx

Honda
Un-tuned
Lap Time: 1:34.2xx

BMW
Un-tuned
Lap Time: 1:34.1xx

VW (Didn't get a full run with this one as I got booted when the wife called)

Edit: Yeah @CyKosis1973 there was a little miscalculation with Dan thinking he had me cleared on the outside diving down to the apex, but that is racing and it was great! Was it only 4-5 laps that he was hunting me down? It felt like the entire race all I saw was his headlights in my rear view. Even in the practice laps we found ourselves scrapping back and forth. Hot tires in the dirt are a nightmare as well and will throw off all of your normal braking points.

Running solo, I've had the BMW in the mid to low 1:33s. The Civic dips into the 1:33s easily and with little effort. The Ford is a consistent 1:34, but you have to really wring everything out of the car. Haven't really run the VW, but I'm sure @ImToLegitToQuit was running 1:33s and 1:32s the other day, so I've no really worries about the VW's capabilities.

We'll see how tonight goes. I'm still hopefully we'll hear from the Group 2 folks, just to give us some extra data. Bearing in mind they're down to three teams now, we may have to absorb them into the other two groups or consider other alternatives 👍

@CyKosis1973 Just wondering if I am taking a power/ballast penalty for being a one man team. If so, would you be able to say how much so I can make the appropiate adjustment before the race? And if I am taking a ballast punishment, do I still have to adhere to the 54/46 weight distribution rule?

If you want some base lap times to help you judge the amount, I've just done a few laps at Laguna and running high 32's on a sprint lap and low 33's on a tyre conserving lap.

About 100kg should be enough! ;)

Come as you are for now, Sir. We're still feeling the cars out 👍

Lobby open, probably room for one or two more spectators, once Lewis is in...

Group 1 Pre-Season complete!! Thanks to all those involved, it was quite the spectacle of occasion and very enjoyable to watch. Please note that as of now, the Civic is to be limited to 305BHP, Post #1 has been updated to reflect this 👍

Lobby still open, if anyone else is about. There's a bunch of us in there right now

I will have to do some more testing @CyKosis1973 , but adding 7hp to the Ford made me change a part and that messed up the transmission. I think 5hp would be fair. I was pulling away on the straight with the 7 but my tuner will hook me up for a longer run setup if given the extra hp. What was the deal with me and @NEWDRIVER2 not seeing each other?

@Ronald6 and I weren't anywhere near 1:34's in the VW at Laguna Seca. The car corners pretty well, but is a couple of seconds off the Civic.

Just a hitch between your connections or within the server. It meant that anytime you two were close, you became the flying focus.

:lol: Good times... that might explain a thing or two about the handling. I want that pic! @Motor City Hami you would have to confirm with @CyKosis1973 but I think @brian wolf was mid to low 34,s in his VW.

I missed the race this morning but in testing the other day I ran 34.2 with the car at about 85% tuned. Not sure what my driver ran today.
I qualified with a 1:35.1 and fastest racing lap was 1:33.5. I`m a bit rusty at Laguna but was Dicing with Lewis for 1st in the 3rd race, until I outbraked myself at turn 1. :dunce: Ended up with 3 3rd place finishes, I lead a few laps and I might have got the fastest lap in the last race.👍

sorry to hear brother. If you want and it's not against the rules, I can volunteer to drive for you so you don't lose out on points.
I also would be fine with, since the season didn't actually start yet, I could let @Ridox2JZGTE tune for another driver and I can be less concerned about this event. All of this is up to @CyKosis1973 and any decisions made I will be ok with.

Tried adding power to the focus but made only a small difference, then tried reducing weight and this made a greater difference. Put the power back to 315 bhp reduced weight by 100 kg which changed the balance which also made the car a little better to handle and put the times down to 1.34.5 best lap no draught and constant mid 1.35s. perhaps you could try this and see if it's fair.

As I left last night, I asked @randyrockstiff to test the Ford with either 327bhp/1300kg or 320bhp/1275kg. I felt that the 5bhp/25kg was worth more than the 7bhp. The Ford still needs a little help, but I'm not sure throwing more power at the problem will help, plus any reduction in weight means the distribution changes. Once again though, I felt that a lighter 55/45 distribution was acceptable. Can all Ford owners please test 327bhp/1300kg or 320bhp/1275kg and let me know? All my testing has been done without chassis reinforcement, I'm about to remedy that situation and will conduct further testing once I have 👍

I've come to realise that Laguna Seca was perhaps not the greatest track for these cars. The biggest winner was the Honda, light-weight, long wheel base and mental rev range. I'm also conscious of the fact it turned into a two two horse race. Often the Honda and BMW were left to duke it out as were the VW and Ford. When the VW was duking with the front two, it was due to some heroic driving. I think that the VW might see a slight power increase, but I don't want to leave the Ford even further behind.

You did well, Sir, results have been posted on the front page, you scored a few bonus points in the latter stages of the Round. Once we'd balanced the Honda, there was a decent three way scrap going on 👍
I am just letting you guys know and will try to keep you guys informed, my dad is in the hospital but he is doing better. I will not be able to participate in the next race.
Go do what you have to, life always comes first 👍

I think we'll carry on as 2 groups of 5, if I pair @Ridox2JZGTE and @Lewis_Hamilton_. Can you all please review Post #2 for provisional groupings and see if it's sensible and agreeable, thank you.

100kg is a lot and I'm not sure what it'll do the Ford's weight distribution. As above, 25kg and a mild power hike is where I'd like to go. Please test yourselves though. And speaking of testing, can you all now move all testing to Brands Hatch Indy (Short Course). On tracks with time/weather change, please test at all times of the day. During an actual race, qualifying will take place at 10:00am, Race 1 at 11:00am, Race 2 at 14:00pm and Race 3 at 17:00pm.

I'll have a lobby up at some point today, please feel free to join me 👍

PS - I'll try to get some videos from the pre-season up, if anyone else has the ability to capture and post replays, please do :)
